Emperor's Suppression Manual
The Emperor's Suppression Manual is the Timeless Assassin's aura method for turning a presence trained to disappear into one capable of suppressing armies. Its extreme trials forge control and killing intent while imposing profound physical, moral, and family costs.
History
A legacy recommended by the Timeless Assassin
The Timeless Assassin's projection tells Leo to request the manual from Soron because his mastery of basic aura makes it the appropriate core method for Transcendent advancement. After Soron provides it, Leo blood-binds the sigil-marked book and receives its first temporary instructions. The method directly opposes his assassin conditioning: instead of hiding aura, he must project it beyond the body and make it interact with the surrounding world. Charles cannot explain the manual's later stages, but his practical comparison to Soron's overwhelming presence helps Leo choose a candle flame as the first measurable target. (Chapters 607–608 and 631–642)
Projection and a million disadvantaged victories
Grief and rage help Leo's subconscious achieve the first projection milestone before his conscious technique catches up. In the Time-Stilled World, he learns how emotions alter aura expansion, eventually extinguishing a candle fifty meters away at severe energetic cost. The next instruction demands one million unique victories with his odds deliberately held at fifty percent or less: against a Master, for example, he descends to the same tier, binds his limbs, covers his eyes, and forfeits auxiliary perception. Any loss or draw resets the entire count. Twenty-five years and repeated rebuilds later, completing the streak transforms dominance from superior force into an aura conditioned to treat victory as inevitable. (Chapters 716, 731–755, and 773–801)
Two billion deaths and completion
The final stage requires two billion human deaths to sharpen killing intent enough for Monarch advancement, without distinguishing soldiers from civilians. Leo initially recoils from the indiscriminate demand, but his need to rescue Veyr and acquire the strength required for the operation makes him accept the moral injury. He devastates populated enemy worlds and uses the manual's displayed counter to track progress past the threshold. Completion qualifies him to attempt Monarch, automatically unbinds the book, and reveals coordinates for the Timeless Assassin's unfinished Supreme Suppression research. Leo retains the physical manual but refuses to pass its ordeal to anyone he cares about, even while acknowledging that it forged the weapon he needed to become. (Chapters 801–831)
Abilities and properties
- The first stage teaches Aura Projection: extending presence beyond the body and exerting physical influence at range. Emotional state affects how readily Leo's aura contracts or surges outward. (Chapters 631, 642, 716, and 731–732)
- The second stage requires one million consecutive wins against unique opponents under deliberate disadvantages that keep victory odds at or below one half. One loss or draw erases all counted progress. (Chapter 732)
- The second-stage result conditions the practitioner's aura around inevitability and is said to prevent defeat by an opponent beneath the user's tier, but it does not establish invulnerability against peers, stronger beings, or hazards outside such fights. (Chapter 801)
- The final two-billion-kill requirement tempers killing intent until Leo's aura can suppress or kill weaker targets on a mass scale and meets a Monarch breakthrough condition. The slaughter is a requirement, not a side effect, and the source treats its ethical cost as central. (Chapters 801–831)
- As Leo's aura grows, containment becomes increasingly difficult: pressure leaks into rooms, affects structures, endangers civilians and family, and forces isolation. Projection over expanding distances also drains him during development. (Chapters 732–755)
- Instructions appear briefly in luminous ink after milestones. At completion the manual unbinds and discloses the next research location, but it does not itself grant the unfinished Supreme Suppression Manual. (Chapters 631, 732, and 831)
