Raymond

Raymond is Kaelith's son, a Universal Government commander, and a secretly ascended Demi-God whose existence violates the pact among the old Gods. His victories over the Cult make him a symbol of Righteous strength, but dependence on his father's protection and confidence in the gap between divine and mortal power leave him unprepared for Leo Skyshard's decisive counterattack at the Pit.

Biography

Righteous commander against the Cult

Kaelith first assigns Raymond to monitor and prepare the elimination of Leo after the new Shadow Dragon begins drawing converging patterns of fate. Raymond obeys as both commander and son, yet questions why one more Cult prodigy deserves personal attention. His surveillance ship stops outside Cult territory when Soron projects a spiritual warning from Ixtal strong enough to immobilize him. Raymond refuses to bow but does not cross the boundary, then spends months probing Juxta with limited attacks rather than risk divine retaliation. The episode establishes the caution beneath his authority: he is ambitious enough to test an enemy's limits, but his command remains bounded by forces and family knowledge greater than his public Monarch identity suggests. (Chapters 433–436 and 654–655)

Raymond's hidden Demi-God rank is itself a political breach. Kaelith, Mauriss, and Helmuth had sworn that any of their offspring reaching that realm would be killed by the parent, yet Kaelith quietly allows Raymond access to the Moonshine Flower needed for ascension. Raymond believes his aura concealment is flawless even to his father, but Mauriss infers the truth from Soron's disproportionate warning and forces a confrontation. When Raymond admits his rank, Kaelith attempts the required execution; Mauriss blocks the Origin dagger because he wants Raymond used to provoke Soron instead. Survival therefore leaves Raymond neither free nor triumphant. His secret becomes the leverage that sends him into a campaign designed by Gods who regard his possible death as useful evidence. Kaelith trains Raymond for the Juxta assault, sharpening his instincts against fourth-dimensional attacks while repeatedly demonstrating the gap between perceiving a God and controlling the same space. Raymond improves but remains unable to match his father, and Kaelith gives him a razor-sized piece of Origin Metal as the only plausible means of permanently harming Soron. Raymond then assembles more than twenty billion soldiers and advances while expecting his uncle to appear and kill him. He accepts the mission partly because refusing would expose Kaelith to the pact's consequences and partly because he cannot imagine becoming the kind of man who kills his own father. What looks publicly like overwhelming command begins privately as coerced filial sacrifice. (Chapters 684–690 and 698)

Soron does not appear at Juxta, allowing Raymond to break the shield and commit his fleet. Charles destroys enormous numbers of ships and survives Raymond's pressure long enough to weaponize a stored burst of Soron's aura, briefly paralyzing the Demi-God and nearly severing his neck. Raymond's training and regeneration save him; he answers with Divine Severance, removes Charles's limbs, and decapitates him when the commander refuses to explain the aura orb. Raymond then destroys Juxta and presents the victory as the opening of the Cult's collapse. Kaelith's response undercuts that narrative: roughly sixty percent of Raymond's force is dead or injured, two Monarchs are lost, and destroying the planet eliminates any material recovery, revealing a costly victory sustained by scale rather than efficient command. The Pit and collapse of strategic certainty

After Juxta, Raymond treats Leo's planetary destruction as proof that another Timeless bloodline threat must be removed. He also exploits captive Aegon Veyr, offering one whole Moonshine Flower and ascension knowledge in exchange for Cult techniques. Veyr teaches Shapeshift, Enhance, and a third technique before recognizing that Raymond's supposed secret cooperation is part of Kaelith's manipulation. Raymond shares the potion ingredients and a rudimentary account of the governing laws because he expects Veyr to die before returning that knowledge to the Cult. The exchange enlarges both sides instead: Raymond acquires techniques his father withheld, while the Cult retains the flower and information required to create future Demi-Gods. (Chapters 752–782 and 798–804)

As the execution approaches, Raymond notices that the Cult's visible army is too small for the twelve retaliatory campaigns the Righteous planners expect. He suspects a deeper strategy, but Kaelith dismisses the concern and insists Soron is the only pillar that matters; Raymond defers to his father despite his own analysis. At the Pit he publicly drags Veyr to the platform and then becomes one of three Demi-Gods anchoring Chakravyuh beside five Gods. The formation can hold Soron out of the Fourth Dimension only while its layered armies distribute the strain. As Leo destroys those rings, the load collapses inward until Raymond's circuits and soul cannot sustain it, forcing him to abandon his anchor and helping create Soron's escape gap. Still exhausted from Chakravyuh, Raymond turns on Leo and the retreating Cult rather than reassessing the broken plan. He fires multiple divine arcs at once, forcing Leo to choose between Veyr and the army; one unblocked slash kills roughly twelve million soldiers. Raymond then invokes Charles's death to provoke a reckless charge and offers public mercy only if Leo kneels and accepts execution. These actions restore his sense of dominance after the formation's collapse, but they also make the battle personal and predictable. His confidence rests on a real power gap—Leo's ordinary attacks barely trouble his divine essence—yet Raymond mistakes superiority in sustained exchange for immunity to a single prepared technique. Leo deliberately accumulates wounds and settles Raymond into an easy rhythm until the Demi-God spreads his arms to proclaim the difference between them. From close range Leo expends his stored Life Essence on Temporal Shift, folding distance at nearly half light speed, and chains the movement into Crownfall before Raymond can restore his guard. The strike decapitates him and severs the divine circuitry that regeneration would need to obey. Raymond remains conscious only long enough to understand that a “mortal” has killed him and to hope Kaelith will retaliate. Leo suffers severe muscular, nervous, skeletal, and internal backlash, confirming that the victory is a costly timing exploit rather than proof of superior base power. Raymond's death becomes evidence that Righteous deterrence can no longer rely on rank alone. (Chapters 970–972)

Appearance and personality

Raymond has black hair and black eyes, with familiar features that identify him as Kaelith's son. In command he favors a straight, controlled posture, measured gestures, and an outwardly composed expression; his hair whips loose when he accelerates in combat, while his divine aura manifests prominently in crimson pressure and constructs. His face and body are mutable after Veyr teaches him Shapeshift, which he later uses to copy Veyr during the Pit confrontation. The technique makes any later assumed appearance temporary rather than a change to his natural black-haired, black-eyed presentation. (Chapters 433, 701–702, 752, 777, and 965)

He is cautious around the ancient Gods, deferential toward Kaelith, and more dependent on paternal protection than his public authority suggests. That insecurity coexists with curiosity, fast comprehension, strategic intuition, and a growing cruelty toward opponents he considers beneath him. Raymond can detect that the Cult's visible deployment does not fit the expected strategy and can negotiate knowledge with Veyr, but he also wastes lives at Juxta, tortures Charles for information, and turns mass killing into a taunt. Success hardens his confidence into contempt. His final error is not lack of intelligence but willingness to let inherited rank and the desire for public humiliation override the caution that once kept him outside Soron's territory. Abilities and power progression

Raymond progresses off-page from Monarch to Demi-God through a forbidden ascension enabled by Kaelith's Moonshine Flower supply. The new realm grants divine essence, regeneration, aura dominance, fourth-dimensional perception, and force far above a Monarch, but not a God's command of higher-dimensional laws. He later learns Cult techniques from Veyr and receives focused combat training from Kaelith. His latest state is death by decapitation at the Pit before he can reach Godhood.

Divine heritage, essence, and regeneration

As Kaelith's son and a Demi-God, Raymond has physical force, speed, endurance, and divine essence capable of overpowering peak Monarchs. His condensed essence stops Leo's paired daggers on one finger, and a throat cut that would kill a mortal closes in real time after Charles's failed execution. This recovery is formidable but not unlimited resurrection. Chakravyuh strains his circuits and soul, delayed recovery leaves him initially weakened against Leo, and a clean decapitation through the neck and divine circuitry ends control of the body before regeneration can answer. His bloodline gives exceptional potential and access to ascension resources, but it does not supply Kaelith's temporal correction or make him a four-dimensional God. Aura mastery, concealment, and domains

Raymond can suppress every trace of his Demi-God aura strongly enough that even Kaelith cannot passively sense his true tier. He can also read another person's aura turning black during a lie, project killing intent that suffocates a Monarch, and expand crimson pressure into walls, chains, spears, or a constricting domain. A smaller silent pocket prevents ordinary outside listening while he bargains with Veyr. These applications provide concealment, coercion, and battlefield control rather than omnipotence. Mauriss deduces the concealed rank from circumstances, Soron's stored aura crushes Raymond's domain and briefly paralyzes him, and Charles's Intent Mastery still reveals the lines of Raymond's attacks even when their force is too great to answer cheaply. Sword force and acquired Cult techniques

Raymond channels divine force through a blade as compressed arcs, multi-line attacks, chains, and named Divine Severance. A single broad slash can erase millions of soldiers, while Divine Severance removes Charles's limbs despite the Monarch seeing the intent line. From Veyr he masters Shapeshift in about half an hour, learning to alter muscle, bone, skin, facial features, and hair through mana and stored bodily water. Enhance proves harder: he spends several days learning to redirect mana into a chosen organ and approaches the final muscle-output step, but the corpus does not clearly demonstrate later combat use or complete mastery. His preexisting amplification method has a severe exhaustion window; Veyr's cleaner version interests him because it avoids that recoil. (Chapters 701–704, 752–782, 960, and 965)

Fourth-dimensional perception and tactical limits

Raymond's Demi-God senses can perceive fourth-dimensional distortions and the layered temporal paths in Kaelith's dagger training. He can create a stabilized mana bubble in space and move Veyr briefly outside the Eternal Garden, but he cannot manipulate the Fourth Dimension as Kaelith does; early training leaves him seeing attacks he is still too slow to stop. Kaelith improves his pattern recognition and reflex under divine pressure, which lets him jerk away from Charles's aura-assisted beheading attempt. Temporal Shift is a different limit, not a Raymond ability. Leo fuels it with Life Essence, folds space at nearly half light speed, and attacks during the fraction between Raymond's perception and reaction. Confidence widens that opening, while the technique's severe backlash shows why it is not an effortless universal counter. (Chapters 684–690, 803, 849, 965–971)

Relationships

• Kaelith: Raymond's father, sovereign, trainer, and protector permits his forbidden ascension but nearly executes him when Mauriss exposes it. Raymond remains loyal and dependent despite Kaelith's contempt, while Kaelith's later grief makes Raymond's death the motive for revenge against Leo.
• Leo Skyshard: Raymond initially monitors Leo as an emerging threat, then tries to humiliate and kill him at the Pit. Leo turns Raymond's confidence into the opening for Temporal Shift and kills him to avenge Charles.
• Charles: Charles nearly kills Raymond using Soron's stored aura and a neck strike. Raymond regenerates, tortures him for the orb's secret, and decapitates him; that victory directly creates Leo's motive for their final duel.
• Aegon Veyr: Raymond trades a Moonshine Flower and divine knowledge for Cult techniques while Veyr is Kaelith's prisoner. He later parades Veyr at the execution and weaponizes the partial cooperation as a claim that the Dragon betrayed the Cult.
• Soron: Soron's distant warning contains Raymond for months, and the Juxta campaign is designed to force the wounded God to reveal himself. Even stored fragments of Soron's aura can overpower Raymond's domain.
• Mauriss: Mauriss exposes Raymond's forbidden rank, prevents Kaelith from killing him, and turns him into the test meant to draw Soron out. Raymond fears his manipulation but owes his immediate survival to it.
• Helmuth: Helmuth is the third party to the old pact prohibiting divine offspring from reaching Demi-God. Raymond's concealed ascension risks retaliation from him even though they do not develop a close personal relationship.

Items

• Origin Metal razor: Kaelith gives Raymond a blade weighing about one-tenth of a gram before the Juxta assault so he has some possibility of permanently wounding Soron. The corpus does not show Raymond landing such a strike or establish the razor's custody after his death.
• Moonshine Flower: Raymond gives Veyr one complete five-petaled flower, with each petal sufficient for one Demi-God potion if combined with the other ingredients. He presents the transfer as secret goodwill, while Kaelith's later comments show the father and son were jointly manipulating Veyr; the flower remains with the Cult rather than returning to Raymond.
• Sword: Raymond channels his crimson divine attacks and Divine Severance through a sword. No unique name or later custodian is established for it.
