Mana Revolver
The Mana Revolver is Dominic's breakthrough firearm design. Its magitech circuitry can create or discharge mana-based shots through a compact six-shot weapon, and the rare pattern accelerates his early smithing progress. Variants become valuable trade goods, officer weapons, adventurer sidearms, and eventually the conceptual basis for larger repeating guns. (Chapters 29–34, 45, 62–91, 198, 322–379, and 769)
History
From recovered plan to rare weapon
Dominic obtains the pattern during the Aramos campaign and immediately treats it as both a craft challenge and a path to Blacksmith Trade Skill Core growth. He makes the parts in a field forge, combining ordinary gunsmithing with magical inscriptions. The successful weapon is rare enough that its recipe and sale value materially improve his status, and a trade with Bella yields the growth-rate orb he wears beside his core. (Chapters 29–45)
At the Royal Forge, Dominic refines the design across different grades and levels. A Level 17 Rare revolver demonstrates the pattern's high-end result, while a Level 10 Uncommon example remains a useful backup if its physical chamber is plugged so no one loads conventional ammunition by mistake. He produces Level 20 Rare examples for sale and a decorative Level 15 “Mana Revolver of Swiftness,” showing that enchantment, quality, and intended owner can vary without changing the base pattern. (Chapters 77–91, 146, and 159–160)
A design that scales beyond one pistol
The revolver spreads through Cygnian units and Wistover's adventurer economy. Six-shot capacity becomes evidence in a murder investigation, regiments stock both rifles and revolvers, and Dominic equips militia or sells paired examples to gunslingers. He also adapts the circuit logic to dual-capability rifles and later long-barrelled aircraft guns that continue firing while the trigger is held. The final machines are not handguns, but their operating concept descends directly from the mana revolver. (Chapters 174, 198, 218, 254–266, 322–379, 413–438, and 769)
Properties and use
- Six-shot operation: The standard revolver holds six attacks before its ordinary firing cycle must be renewed. (Chapter 174)
- Mana ammunition: Its circuitry can function without a conventional projectile in the chamber, which is why an unsafe physical bore can be plugged while leaving the magical weapon usable. (Chapter 91)
- Variable manufacture: Grade, level, decoration, and added effects depend on the maker, materials, and enchantment; the pattern does not guarantee every copy the same power. (Chapters 81, 91, 146, and 160)
- Elemental enhancement: Temporary blessings can add holy damage to every shot, while other variants support fire or mana-related effects. (Chapters 160 and 676)
- Heat and handling: Sustained battle use can heat the wielder's fingers, and accuracy still depends on aim and training. (Chapters 366 and 769)
- Scalable circuitry: The same operating logic can be added to rifles and enlarged for repeated aircraft fire, though those adaptations need new structure and testing. (Chapters 322, 369, and 769)
Ownership and custody
| Holder or custodian | Relationship to the item |
|---|---|
| Dominic Wavemates | Learns the pattern, makes many variants, uses them in combat, and adapts their circuitry. |
| Bella | Early purchaser whose trade helps fund Dominic's core development; later carries one of his weapons. |
| Cygnian and Wistover troops | Institutional users of revolvers and weapons derived from the same design. |
| Adventurers and gunslingers | Buyers for whom rare examples are valuable personal sidearms. |
Connections
- Blacksmith Trade Skill Core: The rare pattern and its production sharply accelerate Dominic's early apprentice progress.
- Cogwork Plate Armour: Companion recovered design that forms Dominic's early field equipment and craft portfolio.
