Bella

Bella is a Mystic Gunner from the farms near Aramos and the partner of Wiz. Her mobile ranged fire complements his frontline defence, and her enthusiasm for magical firearms helps connect Dominic Wavemates's early smithing to the weapons later used around Wistover.

Biography

Aramos and the Cygnian War Effort

Bella first meets Dominic while working as a caravan gunner and trying to raise her level enough to earn better pay. She offers him lodging through Wiz's family and recruits him for a Goblin hunt because the attacks threaten their farms. Although Wiz is strong enough to join more advanced parties, Bella trusts his good nature and their complementary roles; she supplies ranged damage while he heals and holds the front. Her decision gives Dominic his first close adventuring partnership and brings a capable smith into Aramos's defence. (Chapters 25–29)

The worsening raids turn that hunt into protection of the whole district. Bella fires from trees and behind the guard line, thins flanking Goblins, and watches her angles when allies enter her line of fire. After Dominic crafts a mana-fed revolver, she trades valuable recipes and enhancement cores for it; its ability to reload through mana lets her sustain a much higher rate of fire. She and Wiz nevertheless remain at Aramos when the threat reaches Cygnia City because their own families and neighbours lack comparable defenders. Their choice limits their wider participation but prevents local farms from being left exposed. (Chapters 29–39, 45, and 64)

Founding Wistover

Bella and Wiz remain important to Aramos after the immediate crisis. Dominic later uses their presence as proof that only a few capable combatants can turn sporadic monster attacks from an existential danger into a manageable nuisance for farming families. Their value is therefore communal as well as martial: they make it possible for ordinary residents to stay on their land instead of abandoning it whenever monsters appear. (Chapter 257)

The Duskblade Sect and Monster Incursions

When Aramos's families relocate to Wistover under favourable settlement terms, Bella returns with them rather than treating her caravan career as her only path. She is surprised to discover that the young smith she knew has become a Duke, but her interest immediately returns to weapons and the possibility of new firearm recipes. She and Wiz are the only adventurers attached to their farming group, so their settlement also brings the same protective arrangement that benefited their old home. (Chapters 357–359)

Bella then joins Wistover's response to the monster ritual and surrounding incursions. She identifies the group's composition for Dominic, explaining that four gunslingers supply ranged fire while an alchemist provides affordable healing, and she continues fighting in coordinated teams through the ritual operation. Dominic's willingness to reserve or discount improved revolvers for her reflects a relationship that has matured from one early trade into a continuing exchange between weaponsmith and field user. (Chapters 379–422)

The Royal Joust and Regional Alliances

Bella and Wiz remain active hunters while political events occupy the manor. They pursue a newly spawned group of Troglodytes, and Dominic still treats the pair's experience as evidence that Goblins are safest when engaged from range. Their role is quieter than the joust itself, but it protects the region from the ritual's continuing output while other forces focus on ceremony and diplomacy. (Chapters 629 and 683)

By Chapter 783, Bella learns that she is pregnant. Her anger is directed less at the pregnancy than at Wiz and his parents suddenly treating her as fragile. She accepts the practical warning that armour fit could strain her stomach and chooses noncombat Guild work, including a wild-boar investigation that still carries some risk without being an extermination mission. The change is temporary and self-directed: she plans to step back while the children are young and later take smaller jobs, adapting her adventuring life rather than surrendering it. (Chapter 783)

Appearance and personality

Bella is a young, muscular woman with a mass of ginger-orange curls. Early in the story she wears an engagement ring and favours cloth trousers, a shirt, and a leather jacket when mobility matters more than armour. She is physically strong enough for companions to remark on it, but her fighting style emphasizes movement and clear firing lanes rather than absorbing attacks. (Chapters 25 and 28)

She is animated, direct, and intensely interested in weapons. Her eyes light up at new recipes, and she handles a revolver with practiced confidence. Bella is also loyal to home and impatient with condescension: she stays to defend vulnerable farms and later resents being treated as helpless merely because pregnancy requires tactical adjustments. (Chapters 34, 38–39, 358, and 783)

Magic, skills, and craft

Bella is a Mystic Gunner whose combat power depends on firearms, positioning, and equipment effects. The corpus confirms a Gunner Skill Gem at level four and approaching level five at her first appearance, but it does not narrate a sufficiently complete sequence of later formal attainments for a public progression table.

Mystic Gunner marksmanship

Bella attacks from elevated or protected positions, using rapid gunfire to reduce enemy numbers before they reach the frontline. She can spin and inspect a revolver expertly, kill a fox with a single head shot, and increase her firing rate when her weapon can replace ammunition with mana. Her practical limitation is friendly positioning: when guards enter a shot's path, she slows down and aims carefully rather than risk striking them. This makes her most effective beside a defender such as Wiz, who fixes enemies in place and keeps them away from her firing position. (Chapters 29, 34, and 38)

Equipment knowledge and field judgment

Bella understands firearm recipes, enhancement cores, and the value of magical weapons well enough to negotiate a complex trade with Dominic. She supplies armour knowledge and cores associated with mana recovery, spell power, endurance, and skill growth in return for his first rare pistol. Her enthusiasm does not replace caution: she checks gear before patrols, identifies party roles clearly, and later shifts toward lower-risk missions when armour and close combat become unsafe during pregnancy. (Chapters 28, 34–35, 45, 64, 380, and 783)

Relationships

  • Wiz: Bella grows up on the neighbouring farm, becomes Wiz's fiancée and later his wife, and fights as the ranged half of their adventuring partnership. Their affection is longstanding, though she objects when his concern during her pregnancy becomes overprotective. (Chapters 25–26, 357, and 783)
  • Dominic Wavemates: Bella finds Dominic lodging, recruits him to hunt, and becomes one of the first serious customers for his magical weapons. Their trades supply him with important recipes and enhancement cores, while his revolvers expand her combat options. (Chapters 25, 34–35, 45, 64, and 358–379)
  • The Aramos settlers: Bella treats the farms where she grew up as a responsibility. She stays during the Goblin crisis and later relocates with the farming families to Wistover, remaining one of their few dedicated adventurers. (Chapters 39, 257, and 358–359)

Items

  • Mana Revolver: Bella trades recipes, enhancement cores, and other value for Dominic's early rare revolver. Its mana reloading supports sustained rapid fire. (Chapters 34, 38, 45, and 64)
  • Armour: Bella uses adventuring armour with buckled sections, but also chooses unenchanted cloth and leather when she needs maximum shooting mobility. Pregnancy later requires her to monitor armour fit and reduce combat risk. (Chapters 28, 36, and 783)
