Baron William Robert
Baron William Robert, usually called Billy Bob, is a former member of the Regiment appointed to one of Wistover's new baronies. He brings war-displaced settlers with him and develops a grape-and-wine economy while growing into the administrative expectations of noble office.
Biography
Soldier turned founding Baron
William arrives early with supplies and a group of refugees whose Cleowey village burned during the war, giving his new land both workers and people needing a permanent home. His military salute and familiarity with Alexis preserve his Regiment identity, but within a month she praises his shift from “Billy Bob of the Regiment” to a business-minded Baron. He establishes grapes and fermenting wine, joins other local rulers in planning, and fights from his home with a mana revolver when monsters threaten his goats. The appointment therefore develops from emergency settlement into a defended agricultural domain. (Chapters 252–304 and 438)
Established local ruler
Years later, William participates in Wistover's noble meetings alongside Baron Keith and is perceptive enough to share Dominic's suspicion during overly polite negotiations. He has also raised a wine-creation spell gem to level three, complementing the vineyards he began after arrival. His latest position is that of an established Baron whose military past, agricultural business, and limited magical production all support the region rather than a temporary appointee still learning the title. (Chapters 771–773)
Appearance and personality
The corpus gives no stable physical description of William. His military salute, early initiative, and willingness to fight show habits formed in the Regiment. He is friendly with former comrades, commercially adaptable, and more politically alert than Dominic expects during later negotiations. (Chapters 252, 438, 483, and 772)
Magic, skills, and craft
William demonstrates firearm use by defending his home with a mana revolver. He also operates a wine-creation spell gem that has reached level three, but the effect is item-mediated and does not establish an innate wine spell or a broader personal magical rank. His principal nonmagical skills are settlement leadership, vineyard and wine-business development, and the practical confidence of a former soldier. (Chapters 252–304, 438, and 772)
Relationships
- Alexis: Alexis knows William from the Regiment and recognizes how quickly he adapts to the responsibilities and business of a Baron. (Chapters 252 and 297)
- Dominic Wavemates: Dominic welcomes William's settlers, coordinates with his barony, and later works beside him in meetings of Wistover's local rulers. (Chapters 252–304, 438, and 771–773)
- Baron Keith: William and Keith are Wistover's first two Barons and alternate regional duties before later attending negotiations together. (Chapters 552 and 771–773)
Items
- Mana Revolver: William fires the magitech sidearm from a window while defending his home during a monster attack. (Chapter 438)
- Wine-creation spell gem: By Chapter 772, he has advanced this production gem to level three. Its effect supports his wine business but belongs to the gem rather than proving innate spell mastery. (Chapter 772)
