Yuirel Antrum Valenheim is a Cave Fairy commander and, during the war, the race’s second-ranking member. She advises human expeditions, leads Cave Fairies in battle, and later succeeds to the position of their head. (Chapters 107–108, 111, 138, 153, 196, 249–251)

Biography

Pagoda and Federation liaison

Yuirel meets Seol Jihu and Teresa Hussey near the Pagoda of Dreams, explains its contagious nightmare curse, and advises the expedition to withdraw. When they proceed, she arranges limited help, guides them to the boundary, and waits with purification support for their return. Their survival strengthens a cooperative relationship with a human she finds unusually respectful of the Federation, even though she remains candid that many Federation members distrust humanity. (Chapters 107–108, 111, 128)

War and succession

As Fairy General, Yuirel attends Federation consultations and helps defend Tigol Fortress. The return of the Spirit Kings restores the Cave Fairies’ amber eyes and resolves a source of collective shame, after which she represents them in diplomacy and leads a formation against Exploding Patience during the final war. Following Diffidem Odor’s reverse summoning, later chapters identify Yuirel as head of the Cave Fairies and show her summoning a spirit army in the postwar crisis. Appearance and personality

Yuirel has long hair that she can tie into a ponytail and originally covers her eyes with cloth. Her eyes are pitch black until the Spirit Kings’ forgiveness restores their amber color. She is direct, sociable, teasing, and openly competitive with Sky Fairies, but she becomes serious when discussing curses, military collapse, or responsibilities to her people. Abilities and class
