Biography

Noboru upbringing and the Treasure Hunt partnership

Reika grew up as the youngest member of the Noboru main family and the youngest direct descendant of the Sword Saint. Four older siblings and an indulgent extended family left her unusually free to pursue her interests. Before the system she combined sword training with graduate work in chemistry, and after integration she built on both foundations, completing a Perfect profession evolution and becoming the clan’s strongest alchemist even though her great-grandfather still found her blade restless. His response was to send her toward stronger peers rather than shelter her further. (Chapter 243)

During the Treasure Hunt, that policy brought Reika into contact with Jake Thayne at a sealed alchemical puzzle. She began guarded and skeptical, unable to reconcile his ordinary pre-system history with his control and intuition, but she recognized that his experimental approach complemented her own academic method. Her observation about entangled pathways unlocked their collaboration; together they modeled the formation, isolated the chamber, divided the rewards fairly, and exchanged research on catalysts, flasks, potions, and ritual materials. The encounter gave Reika the rare peer she had been missing and established a relationship based on work rather than family status. (Chapters 295–298)

Leadership, battle, and the road to Haven

Reika’s responsibilities expanded as the Treasure Hunt became more dangerous. She helped lead a mixed coalition through the Vault, summoned multiple frost-wreathed swords against the Monarch’s guards, and used a powerful barrier to protect nearby participants when the Blood Moon’s pressure threatened the field. She was not yet among the handful capable of deciding the final duel, but she endured its aftermath and immediately turned to caring for the Sword Saint when his Transcendent technique left him physically diminished. Protecting him from opportunists made the political limits of individual talent impossible for her to ignore. (Chapters 327–338, 349, 362)

Once her great-grandfather stabilized, Reika delegated clan duties and led a large Noboru alchemy contingent toward Haven. She delayed the journey for his recovery, then used the long flight to maintain training, meet travelers, and coordinate specialists working aboard the barge. Her goal was both institutional and personal: the clan needed access to materials and a broader support network, while she wanted another serious exchange with Jake, the one local alchemist whose strengths had unsettled her confidence. On arrival she acted as the delegation’s representative and began working with Haven rather than treating the visit as a private favor. (Chapters 372, 375, 388–392)

The Order Academy and a corrected method

Jake’s invitation to the Order Academy offered Reika knowledge on a scale Haven could not provide, but she did not accept casually. She researched the danger, consulted the other Noboru alchemists, and chose a group whose varied specializations could eventually support the whole clan. The entrance trial then exposed a central weakness in her practice: exhaustive planning and modern scientific procedure had made her poor at reacting to emergent magical changes. Rather than collapse under the judges’ criticism, she left the test glum but determined, earned a bronze token, and took responsibility for the surviving clan students after one candidate died. Life inside the Academy forced Reika to broaden more than her technique. She initially found beastfolk, dragonkin, and other nonhuman peoples repellent or difficult to read, even while maintaining outward composure. Shared study and her friendship with Bastilla gradually dismantled that prejudice. At the same time, limited Academy Credits stopped the Noboru group from passively consuming lessons; Reika organized courses, investigated saleable specialties, and kept Jake informed without claiming his status as her own. Her growth therefore joined technical correction with social independence: she learned to adapt, collaborate, and earn access rather than relying on inherited prestige. (Chapters 419–420, 499–500)

Dungeon peers and the burden of Jake’s status

Jake later invited Reika into an Order dungeon because he remembered how well they had worked together during the Treasure Hunt. Though her combat class lagged behind her profession, she accepted after confirming she could contribute. She distilled unusual restorative water, analyzed the dungeon’s alchemical problems, and resumed live combat with a frost-infused sword, ice-assisted footwork, and delayed blades that exploded after she sheathed her weapon. The expedition validated her as more than a protected scholar while also showing her the gap between her painstaking conventional craft and Jake’s instinctive, improvisational Path. When the group discovered Jake was the Malefic Viper’s Chosen, Reika became the social mediator who preserved the party. She persuaded companions conditioned to revere Chosen that respecting Jake meant treating him as a person rather than reducing him to a title, then coached him on how to explain the same boundary. Their bond survived because she could interpret both sides without exploiting either. Later she progressed to a gold token and conventional techniques beyond Jake’s, but his public revelation still brought intrusive instructors and factional attention; Reika responded by helping organize a support group and warning Noboru alchemists against using her access to pressure him. Earthly leadership and a mature alchemical Path

After her own Nevermore journey, Reika returned to Earth to reconnect with the Sword Saint and the Noboru Clan. During the Prima Guardian event she demonstrated that her Academy years had not erased her combat side, covering broad areas with ice magic alongside her family’s forces. She continued moving between Earth and the Order, using the access Jake opened for Noboru alchemists while keeping their relationship reciprocal and bounded. The result was lasting institutional change: the clan no longer depended solely on inherited sword prestige, and Reika had become a bridge to multiversal alchemy rather than merely its promising junior. By the latest phase of the corpus, Reika leads the Noboru Clan’s alchemical efforts, which underpin Earth’s foremost production of potions and related ingredients. She still falls behind Jake’s exceptional output, fulfilling the Sword Saint’s expectation that she would have to progress without always being the best, but she has turned that comparison into direction rather than despair. Her cold-affinity Alchemical Flame illustrates the mature identity of her Path: it performs the flame’s essential decomposition without ordinary heat or fire, integrating her frost affinity with the careful craft she has refined since the Treasure Hunt. Appearance and personality

Reika is a Japanese woman who appears to be in her mid-twenties, with long black hair and dark eyes. Her composed, formal presentation fits both Noboru etiquette and her preference for approaching unfamiliar problems with preparation. In combat, that neatness persists: after dismantling a mushroom warrior with ice and sword magic, she returned without dirt on her clothing. (Chapters 243, 295, 502)

Her defining traits are intelligence, caution, perfectionism, and responsibility. Early success and a sheltered upbringing made her proud and slow to accept methods that could not be fully modeled, while the Academy exposed both that rigidity and her discomfort around nonhuman peoples. Reika does not remain fixed in those failures. She builds a genuine friendship with Bastilla, accepts criticism from vastly more experienced alchemists, protects less secure companions, and learns to use her social judgment on Jake’s behalf without turning proximity to a Chosen into personal authority. Path, class, and abilities

Alchemy

Reika’s profession grows from two sources: pre-system chemistry and the alchemy available in her tutorial. Her academic training favors controlled experiments, written models, pharmaceutical processes, and reproducibility. She specializes in compound catalysts used in rituals, auxiliary mixtures, potions, and performance-enhancing flasks rather than only direct toxins. This method produces excellent conventional work and eventually earns her a gold Academy token, but it initially fails when a reaction changes outside her predictions. The Order’s entrance trial and her comparison with Jake force her to cultivate intuition alongside research instead of treating theory as a substitute for sensory control. Her signature development is a cold-affinity Alchemical Flame. Despite its name, the effect contains no ordinary fire and does not depend on heating a cauldron. It “burns” by breaking matter down for refinement, proving that an alchemical flame’s functional concept can be separated from heat. The technique lets her align crafting with her native frost magic, but it does not erase the profession’s costs: she still needs suitable materials, mana control, research time, and the ability to respond when real reactions diverge from her plan. At the latest point she directs Noboru production while remaining below Jake’s singular alchemical ceiling. (Chapters 1263, 1265)

Frost magic, barriers, and swordsmanship

The Sword Saint taught Reika enough swordsmanship for her to feel and trust her blade, but her combat Path is fundamentally magical. She can infuse a sword with intense cold, accelerate and vary her footwork through ice mist, produce frozen afterimages that become explosive blades, and control several hovering swords wreathed in blue energy. She also forms large defensive barriers and later projects destructive ice across a broad battlefield. These tools let her defend groups and clear weaker enemies efficiently; they do not place her on her great-grandfather’s dueling level, and long periods devoted to alchemy leave her fighting instincts in need of live practice. Her two disciplines reinforce each other through affinity and mana control. Frost gives both her combat constructs and her non-fiery Alchemical Flame a common conceptual base, while sword training supplies precision and composure under pressure. The main limitation is allocation: her profession advanced ahead of her class at the Academy, and her perfectionism could make both slower when she tried to eliminate uncertainty before acting. By the latest evidence she remains a formidable C-grade producer and area-control combatant whose greatest progress lies in joining careful analysis to practical adaptation. • Jake Thayne: Reika and Jake begin as competing alchemists whose contrasting methods solve a Treasure Hunt puzzle better together than either could alone. He later opens Haven and the Order Academy to her clan, invites her on an Order dungeon, and gives her a peer whose improvisation continually challenges her perfectionism. Reika returns that trust by mediating the fallout of his Chosen identity, policing attempts to exploit their connection, and converting access into durable Noboru expertise. The text frames them as friends and colleagues, not a romance or a formal named apprenticeship. (Chapters 295–298, 388–392, 498–511, 656, 728, 1080, 1263)

• Sword Saint: Her great-grandfather inspires her swordsmanship, worries that family indulgence has limited her growth, and deliberately places her near people who can surpass her. Reika, in turn, nurses him through Transcendent backlash, protects his political position, and carries Noboru interests into Haven and the Order. • Bastilla: Reika’s beastfolk roommate becomes both an alchemical peer and the person who most directly corrects Reika’s early species prejudice. They study, share housing after Reika earns a better token, and dungeon together. • Meira, Irin, and the Order support group: Once Jake’s public status draws unwanted attention, Reika helps friends coordinate what they can disclose and gives practical advice about opportunists.
