Holstred
Holstred is a human knight commander whose surrender to dwarven conquerors preserves his people but leads to their enslavement. Freed on Earth, he becomes a trusted security and governance officer under Miranda Wells.
Biography
From captive commander to council defender
Holstred arrives on Earth in early C-grade among nearly a million displaced captives from a war-torn planet. As former commander of the Silver Knights, he had surrendered after the human empire’s defeat because continued resistance would have caused a massacre; that decision saved lives but left him, his pregnant wife, and his people enslaved. Miranda immediately frees the group and invites them to establish an autonomous settlement. Holstred’s stoic formality breaks into tears, and he accepts responsibility for helping his people decide their future rather than claiming authority over them by default. (Chapters 695, 728)
He later serves the emerging Earth administration in security, dissident monitoring, and crisis response, earning Miranda’s confidence while major leaders are absent. During the Prima conflict she assigns him to a peak-tier battlefield, and by Chapter 1160 he leads officers investigating a concealed hostile faction. When the faction attacks, Holstred teleports to intercept it, raises shields and a defensive formation, and attempts a ruse to expose its hidden Patron. The plan cannot overcome the attackers alone, but it protects his officers long enough for Draskil and Scarlett to intervene. (Chapters 899–900, 915–917, 924, 934, 1158–1160)
Appearance and personality
Holstred is a human man whose military bearing, sword, and formal address define his presentation; the narration does not provide stable hair, eye, or facial details. He is stoic, exceptionally polite, and sometimes overly deferential after enslavement. His surrender and later defensive choices show that protecting subordinates matters more to him than pride, while his willingness to use a ruse shows he is not bound to ceremonial notions of combat.
Path, class, and abilities
- Knight command: Holstred’s pre-captivity authority comes from commanding the Silver Knights. On Earth, the same discipline supports patrol coordination, intelligence work, and leadership of council officers.
- Defensive combat: He fights with a sword and can summon multiple shields, establish protective barriers or formations, and teleport rapidly enough to intercept an attack. These techniques are strongest when buying time and protecting a group rather than pursuing a lone target.
- Progression: He arrives in early C-grade and is level 310 by Chapter 1160. His later position shows continued advancement through council service, though the text does not name his class or individual skills.
- Limits: Holstred’s formation can be pressured by stronger or patron-backed enemies, and his Chapter 1160 defense requires rescue. His latest state is a capable C-grade commander, not an independently dominant planetary powerhouse.
Relationships
- Miranda Wells: Miranda frees Holstred and his people, respects their right to self-government, and later entrusts him with governance and high-risk security assignments. His service repays that trust without recreating ownership.
- Draskil and Scarlett: The pair rescue Holstred’s investigative team when its target reveals greater backing than expected. Their intervention preserves the officers his defense was designed to protect.
