Gudrun

Gudrun is Valhal’s First Valkyrie, the strategist who turns Valdemar’s power into a functioning faction and guides Carmen’s Runemaiden Path.

Biography

The Floor Climb and Challenge Dungeons

Gudrun initially influences Earth through Carmen, granting her a profession and blessing, restraining her from impulsive political violence, and eventually offering the knowledge she wants in exchange for proving herself as a Runemaiden. A system-normalized image later faces Jake in the Colosseum, where her exhaustive preparation and battlefield formation force him to reveal more of his archery. Outside the dungeon, Gudrun manages Valhal’s recruitment and political strategy, supports the operation against Yip of Yore, and joins the investigation into the unknown faction attacking Artemis and Jake’s companions. (Chapters 180, 438, 532, 688, 761–762, 997–1011, 1199)

Appearance and personality

Gudrun’s Colosseum image wears close-fitting golden plate, a face-covering helmet, and carries a short spear with interchangeable shields. Her later projection appears in practical divine company wearing a fur coat, but the corpus does not establish stable facial features. She is analytical, patient, politically calculating, and more restrained than Valdemar, while her private warmth and humor show clearly around her husband. (Chapters 761–762, 1010, 1199, 1271)

Path, class, and abilities

Gudrun is remembered as more shaman and leader than conventional spear-wielding Valkyrie. Her signature strength is preparation: she studies an opponent, spreads misleading intelligence, selects counters, and uses tools as stored power. In the Colosseum, charged spears sustain Winds of the Ancestors, fluidizing the arena’s sand into an expanding mound while explosive shields and lightning javelins restrict movement. The equipment supplies much of the mana, preserving her own reserves. (Chapters 761–762, 765)

The fight also demonstrates the limits of this style. It depends on time, accumulated resources, terrain preparation, and correctly predicting the opponent; Jake’s hidden archery and ability to destroy the formation overturn her advantage. At divine scale, Gudrun’s latest strengths remain command, formations, intelligence analysis, and coordination, while no complete catalog of her true-body combat abilities is given. (Chapters 762–763, 1000–1011, 1199)

Relationships

  • Carmen is Gudrun’s blessed Runemaiden. Gudrun alternates pressure with candid instruction, helping Carmen gain access to Valhal’s secrets while also using her as a bridge to Jake.
  • Valdemar is Gudrun’s husband and strategic counterpart. He supplies overwhelming force and spectacle; she handles the day-to-day politics, planning, and institutional continuity.
  • Jake Thayne is both a recruiting target and a strategic unknown. Gudrun’s interest progresses from testing his image in Nevermore to cooperating against threats that endanger the wider multiverse.
