Blightfather

The Blightfather is a Primordial who created both the conceptual power of Blight and the enlightened undead race known as the Risen.

Biography

The Floor Climb and Challenge Dungeons

The Blightfather first shaped Earth’s story by blessing Casper, transforming Lyra into a Blightwraith, and creating the vessel that preserved her. He later ordered Casper into a Risen Nevermore party, using the new universe to strengthen ties between Earth and his faction. At Nevermore, Inmortau joined the other ancient powers observing Jake, defended the Risen’s deliberately endless conflict with the Holy Church, and balanced blunt criticism with political interest in Jake’s Bloodline. He eventually recognized Casper as a Ghost King, extending both patronage and expectations while leaving Lyra’s long-term evolution unresolved. (Chapters 164, 662, 790–795, 1167, 1246–1247, 1262)

Appearance and personality

The corpus shows the Blightfather speaking among gods but does not establish a dependable description of his true body, face, or clothing. He is curt, sardonic, uncompromising, and politically calculating. His hard exterior is partly strategic: as creator and defender of a persecuted people, he cultivates the certainty that attacks on the Risen will be answered, while preferring alliances and useful diplomacy when others respect his boundaries. (Chapters 790, 795, 845)

Path, class, and abilities

Inmortau created Blight, a conceptual affinity available only to a restricted set of users, and used it to create the Risen. He can transform souls into exceptional undead forms such as Blightwraiths, grant divine blessings, create legendary vessels with casual gestures, and transmit Records that shape later evolutions. The Empire of Blight turns those personal powers into a multiversal political and military structure. (Chapters 164, 229, 353, 1246)

His authority is immense but not absolute. The Holy Mother is strong enough that neither can eliminate the other, producing recurring war, negotiation, and temporary truces rather than victory. His creations also carry uncertain future dependencies: Jake hesitates to alter Lyra because the Blightfather may already have a Path planned for her. At the latest point, Inmortau remains Casper’s active Patron and the Risen’s ultimate guarantor. (Chapters 353, 790, 1167, 1247, 1262)

Relationships

  • Casper receives the Blightfather’s blessing, orders, and eventual recognition as a Ghost King. The patronage raises Casper’s status while placing expectations on his future.
  • Lyra is transformed into a Blightwraith and preserved through the Blightfather’s craft, making her survival and possible evolution deeply dependent on his Records.
  • Holy Mother is Inmortau’s permanent rival. Their factions use conflict to grow, but the two Primordials avoid direct resolution and sometimes cooperate against threats to the established order.
  • Malefic Viper is an old peer with whom Inmortau exchanges criticism, information, and guarded respect during the Nevermore observation.
