Artemis

Biography

The Floor Climb and Challenge Dungeons

Jake first encountered Artemis indirectly on a Nevermore Colosseum floor, where a records-based image of the divine hunter served as its final opponent. The hooded wood elf controlled the arena with nature-charged arrows, buried seeds, sudden vines, and thorn-filled traps, turning her missed shots into hazards while pressuring Jake at range. Both treated the duel as an exhilarating hunt. Jake ultimately severed her bowstring, and the image conceded rather than claim unshown skill with the swords she carried. (Chapters 771–772)

Defeat restored the image's sealed divine memories and revealed her as Artemis, Lord of the Hunt and a goddess of the Pantheon of Life. She explained that a hunter should regulate an ecosystem rather than destroy every source of prey, a principle that shaped both her divine role and her interest in Jake. She briefly offered to make him her Chosen before learning he already belonged to the Malefic Viper, then left a seal and message for her true self because the dungeon image would be erased when the party advanced. (Chapter 773)

Nevermore's Divine Reunion

The Wyrmgod later delivered the Colosseum recording and package to the true Artemis. Intrigued by the mortal who had beaten her image, she hurried to Nevermore and asked Nature's Attendant to accompany her because Dina and multiple Primordials were present. Artemis had reached the Ninth Circle but not yet Godqueen, and she openly felt outclassed in that gathering. Even so, she stayed, spoke directly with Jake, and accepted the risks of entering a room shaped by powers far older than herself. (Chapters 785, 789, and 793–797)

That meeting transformed a dungeon curiosity into an ongoing connection. Artemis and Jake discussed the image's offer and agreed that their encounter deserved a continuation outside the Colosseum, while she observed the party's celebration and the unusual alliances surrounding him. Before leaving Nevermore, Jake asked Dina to pass on that he intended to visit Artemis in the Pantheon of Life. The promise gave Artemis a concrete reason to prepare for his arrival and separated their future relationship from the image that had already ceased to exist. (Chapters 796–797, 877, and 883)

Return from Nevermore and the Prima Guardian

After Dina returned to the Pantheon, Artemis accompanied Nature's Attendant to bring her before Yggdrasil. She openly asked whether Dina viewed Jake as a potential partner, then expressed relief when Dina described their relationship as friendship because Artemis intended to pursue him herself. The conversation clarified that her Nevermore visit had been personal as well as professional and that, unlike the Pantheon's earlier matchmaking plans for Dina, Artemis was making her own deliberate choice. (Chapters 894–895)

The meeting also revealed a subtler consequence of Artemis's brief exposure to Jake. She reported that his aura had shifted her perspective even without changing her divine realm, making other presences feel less absolute. Yggdrasil granted permission for Artemis to continue pursuing the connection but advised patience until Jake matured enough to withstand sustained divine attention. Artemis accepted that constraint, leaving the relationship as a future possibility while Jake and Earth turned toward the Prima Guardian. (Chapters 895 and 897)

The Pantheon of Life and the Shared Hunt

Artemis later awaited Jake's delegation in Yggdrasil's realm as a former Chosen whom the Primordial still trusted. Speaking privately, she admitted that Jake's apparent advantage in status and backing would not remain fixed forever and made her attraction clear without disguising it as diplomacy. She then became his host and instructor. Using an Emblem to normalize their levels, Artemis demonstrated that her complete conceptual understanding of archery still let her dominate him despite equalized attributes, and she tailored her lessons to his preference for learning through direct experience. (Chapters 1091, 1094, and 1100–1103)

Their training developed into repeated hunts and an increasingly serious personal bond. Artemis taught Jake how conceptual energy can be redistributed between an arrow's speed, force, and other properties, helped him confront creatures such as the Warpsnatcher, and sought counsel from Nature's Attendant before deciding the relationship's benefits outweighed its political complications. Jake also delivered a sealed elixir from the Malefic Viper that sharply improved Artemis's chance and speed of breaking through, making the gift both a progression opportunity and a clear sign that his Patron accepted their association. (Chapters 1096, 1103, 1108, 1144–1146)

Hunting Grounds and B-grade Evolution

After a long plateau at the Ninth Circle, Artemis consumed the Viper's elixir and successfully ascended to Godqueen, entering a tier held by only a small minority of the Pantheon's divine members. She and Jake then made their relationship official on the understanding that it was serious rather than casual and that neither would be reduced to the other's political accessory. While she began stabilizing and exploring her new power, Artemis helped Nature's Attendant shape a bow suited to Jake and later recruited a varied group of talented archers so he could learn from many different conceptual approaches. (Chapters 1162–1173 and 1185–1188)

Yggdrasil subsequently appointed Artemis as the Pantheon of Life's ambassador to the Order of the Malefic Viper, making her relationship with Jake part of a broader demonstration of trust. En route, a sealed-void ambush forced her true body to face five hostile gods while she protected the vessel carrying Jake's party. Newly ascended and outnumbered, she injured one attacker but accumulated wounds until Oras intervened. A high-grade potion reduced her recovery to days, and she still reported for her diplomatic duties, shared the attackers' information, and remained attentive when Jake later vanished into an extended meditation. (Chapters 1194, 1196–1205, and 1225)

Appearance and personality

Artemis is a wood elf goddess whose Colosseum image wore a hooded dark-green cloak and carried a bow, a quiver, and two swords. Her sharp green eyes and the scent of nature were the image's clearest physical traits, and later chapters continue to identify the true Artemis as a wood elf. The corpus does not establish her hair color, height, or other stable facial details, while her appearance can also be complicated by divine images and avatars. (Chapters 771–773, 1088, and 1164)

She is confident, competitive, and most comfortable when a problem can be understood as a hunt. Artemis respects capable prey and opponents, enjoys hard-fought contests, and states her desires with unusual bluntness once she decides to act. That confidence coexists with pragmatic self-awareness: she admits when Primordials vastly outclass her, seeks advice on politically dangerous choices, and treats advancement as work rather than entitlement. Her commitment to Jake is deliberately serious, but she insists on entering it as an equal with her own Path, faction, and obligations. (Chapters 773, 793–797, 1094, 1144, and 1164)

Path, class, and abilities

Divine hunter and Godqueen progression

Artemis rose through the Pantheon of Life as a hunter associated with Yggdrasil, first as the Primordial's Chosen and later as a Ninth Circle god. Her divine doctrine treats predators as necessary regulators: a true hunter removes dangerous or excessive prey without exhausting the living system that sustains future hunts. Her long pursuit of the divine Voidpiercer Vitesse, whom she defeated but did not kill, illustrates both her persistence across vast distances and her willingness to spare worthy prey when destruction serves no purpose. (Chapters 773, 1091, and 1145)

The sealed elixir supplied by the Malefic Viper helped Artemis cross her long-standing barrier and become a Godqueen. The advancement substantially raises her divine authority, resilience, and access to higher-grade power, but it is not an instant route to the Empyrean tier. She must stabilize the new realm, explore its abilities, and eventually perfect it before another breakthrough is possible. Her latest combat also shows that a new Godqueen can still be pressured and wounded by coordinated divine peers, especially when protecting others in a sealed battlefield. (Chapters 1096, 1162–1169, and 1196–1200)

Nature archery and battlefield control

Artemis's signature style combines archery with nature magic. Her Colosseum image fired arrows charged with green energy, accelerated ordinary shots to extreme speeds, scattered seed-like projectiles, and grew thorny plants or binding vines from impacts. Missed arrows therefore remained useful as delayed traps, while light nature healing let the image repair limited damage. Her strongest displayed sequence reclaimed or drew upon nature energy established throughout the arena, merging it into a final empowered attack rather than treating each shot as an isolated projectile. (Chapters 771–773)

These techniques make Artemis strongest when she can shape the field, build pressure, and choose the terms of pursuit. Seeds and plants require places to take root, prepared hazards can be avoided or destroyed, and a bow remains an important physical focus: the Colosseum image surrendered after Jake cut its string. She carried two swords, but that image never demonstrated a comparable melee style, so the corpus does not establish them as a signature specialty. At divine grade Artemis can project volleys of green energy through true-body combat, although the text leaves her highest named techniques undisclosed. (Chapters 771–773 and 1196–1198)

Conceptual mastery and instruction

Artemis's greatest advantage over less experienced archers is conceptual control rather than raw attributes alone. With her level and statistics normalized to Jake's, she could still make an arrow move faster than a handgun shot at effectively level-zero physical values. She explained that system-enhanced reality allows conceptual energy to be shifted among properties: an arrow may become nearly instantaneous but lose striking power, while another object may maintain velocity in defiance of ordinary drag. The trade is allocation, not unrestricted creation, and a useful shot still requires the right balance for its target. (Chapters 1100–1103)

As a teacher, Artemis communicates those principles through duels, hunts, demonstrations, and carefully chosen opponents. She uses divine presence and Patron-style instruction to sharpen attention, then lets the student experience why a conceptual choice succeeds or fails. Recruiting archers with distinct Paths gave Jake repeated exposure to different firing methods rather than merely copying hers. This breadth is a strength of her mentorship, but it also marks a limit: Artemis can provide models and pressure, while a student must form a compatible personal understanding instead of inheriting hers intact. (Chapters 1100–1108 and 1185–1188)

Divine manifestations, mobility, and limits

Like other established gods, Artemis can operate through records-based manifestations while her true body remains elsewhere. The Colosseum version recovered divine memories after defeat and closely reflected her personality and skills, yet it was a temporary dungeon image destined for erasure, not the continuing goddess. The true Artemis can also use divine spatial movement, subtle illusion, and localized time manipulation, including restoring damaged surroundings. Such effects demonstrate divine utility beyond archery but do not make her omniscient or allow communication through every sealed space. (Chapters 772–773, 785, 1094, and 1100)

Her latest battle defines the practical ceiling of that versatility. Artemis detected danger and left the transport vessel in her true body to prevent five gods from reaching its passengers, holding several divine opponents at once and wounding one of the weaker attackers. Numbers, a stronger constrained avatar, and the need to defend the vessel gradually overwhelmed her; a sixth enemy still breached the transport, and outside rescue ended the engagement. Artemis survived with manageable injuries, but only potent healing reduced what would otherwise have been a longer recovery. (Chapters 1196–1200)

Relationships

  • Jake Thayne — Jake first defeated a temporary image of Artemis, then sought out the true goddess for training and a shared hunt. Their competitive attraction develops into an official, serious relationship built around mutual advancement; Artemis mentors his archery without giving up her independent status or treating him only as the Viper's Chosen.
  • Yggdrasil — Yggdrasil is Artemis's former Patron and the central authority behind her place in the Pantheon of Life. The Primordial continues to trust her, supports her relationship after assessing its consequences, and appoints her ambassador to the Order when that bond becomes a useful bridge between factions.
  • Nature's Attendant — Nature's Attendant accompanies Artemis to Nevermore, advises her about Jake and the Pantheon's political concerns, and later works beside her on Jake's bow. Artemis treats the older god as both a senior colleague and a trusted source of candid counsel.
  • Malefic Viper — The Viper's status initially forces Artemis's dungeon image to withdraw its offer of Chosenhood. His later elixir makes her Godqueen breakthrough far more attainable, and his approval and intervention turn a potentially dangerous relationship into a foundation for Pantheon–Order diplomacy.
  • Dina — Dina's presence helps bring Artemis and Nature's Attendant to Nevermore, where the true Artemis can meet Jake. As a prominent young member of the same Pantheon and Jake's party member, Dina provides an early personal link between Artemis's faction and the unusual mortal at the center of her interest.
  • Sword Saint and Sylphie — Artemis travels with Jake's companions during the diplomatic mission to the Order and protects their vessel during the void ambush. Their survival turns her new ambassadorial position into an immediate personal obligation rather than a ceremonial title.
