Yoo Jinwoong

Yoo Jinwoong is the Master-rank leader of Essence of the Strait, Yoo Yeonha's father, and a powerful electrical combatant. His public standing rises during the war against Orden, but his responsibility for the Kwang-Oh Incident and later political corruption eventually forces a confession.

Biography

Guild leader and father

As Essence of the Strait's leader, Yoo Jinwoong receives the guild's most sensitive intelligence and commands enough authority to shape Yoo Yeonha's safety and career. He is protective of her, accepting that she should stay with her uncle Yoo Jinhyuk during a crisis while threatening Jinhyuk if she is harmed. That protectiveness coexists with the secret he keeps from her: he helped cause the Kwang-Oh Incident. When Yeonha demands the truth, he describes his role himself and gives her access to the diary recording what happened, leaving her devastated. (Chapters 59–151 and 240–252)

War hero and confession

Jinwoong earns promotion to Master rank and fights at the center of humanity's campaign against Orden. Alongside Yoo Sihyuk he defeats multiple Master-rank monsters, then binds Orden with electricity during the attack on the king. After Baal's defeat, however, evidence exposes collusion involving former political and Association leaders. Jinwoong participates in the confession and whistle-blowing that brings the scandal into public view, accepting custody rather than preserving the authority that earned him the nickname Abdicated King of Seoul. Appearance and personality

Yoo Jinwoong has black hair and well-defined facial features. He carries the reputation of a Berserker in battle, yet can become childlike around his wife and nervous around his daughter. His protectiveness is sincere, but secrecy and a willingness to use power compromise the family he tries to protect. (Chapters 95, 240, and 296)

Gifts and abilities

Jinwoong is a Master-rank Hero with extensive combat experience. He can spread electricity over Orden's body and fight through fields of Master-rank monsters beside Yoo Sihyuk. The corpus does not name his Gift or explain the source, range, or limits of the electricity, so those mechanics remain unknown. (Chapters 296–300)

Relationships

• Yoo Yeonha: Jinwoong loves and protects his daughter, but his concealment of the Kwang-Oh Incident becomes a profound betrayal.
• Yoo Jinhyuk: He trusts Yeonha's uncle with her safety while making the consequences of failure explicit.
