Wang Xun
Wang Xun is a northern sword cultivator whose search for sword intent brings him to the Li Family and reveals the human ingredients in their cultivation pills.
Biography
Seeking sword intent without worldly debt
Xun travels south to complete Nurturing Azure Heaven, seeking the sword intents his own clan cannot supply. His own divination leads him to the Qingche Sword at Moongaze Lake. He asks Yuanping and Yuanjiao for permission to draw a sliver of its stored intent, insisting on agreed compensation because his tradition forbids owing favors. Moved by the Li Family’s orderly governance, he gives them the Wanglin Blossom spirit root as well as explaining an authentic Essence Gathering Pill. His identification of human blood qi and immortal-foundation ingredients in southern pills shocks the family into reconsidering its pill supply. (Chapters 368–373)
Although sympathetic to their predicament, Xun believes even his powerful clan can only shelter its own members from the world’s corruption. He extracts less intent than expected, returns Qingche after three days with only one-tenth of its intent removed and hastily leaves to avoid deeper entanglement. By his later visit to Penglai, he has gathered all sixteen sword intents and completed the divine ability, earning recognition as a Daoist Master while retaining his youthful candor. (Chapters 373–374 and 933)
His family’s commitment to keeping promises brings him back into worldly affairs. His father received Six Xin Unified Metal in return for protecting the Jiang Family, and Xun asks Penglai to provide Jiang Heqian a secluded refuge. He explains that the guilty Jiang branch has been destroyed and seeks a way to honor the pledge without continuing indefinite intervention in mortal disputes. (Chapter 934)
Appearance and personality
He is a young man of ordinary appearance, wearing a Daoist crown and white robes with golden embroidery. His earnest courtesy sometimes becomes awkward: at Penglai he rehearses polite compliments, then falters before empty bookshelves. Compassion and an aversion to worldly entanglement shape his dealings. (Chapters 370, 373 and 933)
Abilities and cultivation
His clan follows the ancient Spiritual Cultivation Dao rather than the southern Purple Mansion Golden Core Dao. Nurturing Azure Heaven requires gathering 128 sword qi and sixteen sword intents; by his later visit to Penglai, Xun has gathered all sixteen, and his golden sword case has manifested outside his body, marking completion of the divine ability. He can assess and extract stored sword intent through hand seals: his brief borrowing of Qingche removes one-tenth of its reserve. His herb and pill knowledge distinguishes genuine Essence Gathering Pills from blood-qi preparations, while his tradition makes him insist on compensation rather than owing favors. (Chapters 369, 371–374 and 933)
