Li Jiangchun

Biography

A gifted child of the Lesser Yin lineage

Li Jiangchun is the son of Li Zhouluo and Pang Yunqing, born after their marriage brought them to Splitreed Island. His mother devoted most of her time to cultivation, but also taught him to recognize the Daoist Masters and respect their lineage. Jiangchun awakened his spiritual orifice late, beginning cultivation at seven; by eight he had reached the third stage of Embryonic Breathing. He was given the rare Lesser Yin path and the detailed Majestic Gui Yin-Seizing Divine Scroll, while diligent sword practice earned praise for his clean technique. His early promise grows from disciplined work after a late start, supported by family instruction. (Chapters 1380, 1525, 1537)

Sword renown and a younger uncle's guidance

Li Suining recognizes Jiangchun through memories of an earlier life, in which Jiangchun became a celebrated swordsman, killed the Shu general Li Nitan and bested the Second Prince of Great Song in three contests. In the present course of events, Jiangchun seeks Suining out to help him find cultivation and sword manuals, reassure him that he can catch up, and arrange contact with elders who can support his formation studies. His intuitive reading of Suining's principles helps the family treat the boy as a serious talent; he later introduces Suining to Li Jiangqian as a rare formation prodigy. (Chapters 1616–1618, 1644–1645)

Sunken Fragrance and Foundation Establishment

Jiangchun eventually enters seclusion and emerges having forged his Immortal Foundation. Its mystic, Sunken Fragrance, balances cold and dryness, commands water and fire, distinguishes beneficial from harmful influences, and surveys Azure Spirit. It has a natural affinity for Cold Essence and Mansion Water, lets him wield Purple Essence freely, and can regulate others' injuries; he can also absorb medicines blended from Lesser Yin and Pure Essence as if they were pure Yin mana, then transform Mansion Water mystics through his foundation to heal. In Chapter 1618 he said the mystic was not yet perfected; by Chapter 1726 he has forged his foundation and explains its established effects. (Chapters 1618, 1726)

Appearance and personality

Jiangchun is shown as a bright-eyed, courteous child who handles a sword with unusual care. As a young man he wears white robes and carries a sword on his back; he is warm and direct with younger relatives, especially when reassuring Suining. (Chapters 1537, 1616, 1726)

Abilities and cultivation

Lesser Yin cultivation and swordsmanship

Jiangchun cultivates the Lesser Yin Dao through the Majestic Gui Yin-Seizing Divine Scroll. The manual sets out stages and spell arts in detail, and his late start did not prevent rapid early progress: he reached the third Embryonic Breathing stage within a little over a year. He also trained diligently with the sword. Suining's account of Jiangchun's Celestial Moon Sword Art and battle against Li Nitan belongs to an earlier life; in the current timeline, Suining has witnessed his precise swordplay and calls it remarkable. (Chapters 1525, 1537, 1616, 1644)

Sunken Fragrance

After reaching Foundation Establishment, Jiangchun explains that Sunken Fragrance balances cold and dryness and harmonizes water and fire. It connects him to Purple Essence, Cold Essence and Mansion Water, lets him use Purple Essence as naturally as his own limbs, and supports injury regulation and healing through Mansion Water. It also lets him absorb medicines blended from Lesser Yin and Pure Essence without adverse effects. The Lesser Yin Dao fears Virile Fire and Gathering Wood, is hindered by the Three Thunders, has no affinity with Ancient Merging, and is broadly compatible with the Twelve Essences. Jiangchun has established the foundation of the Lesser Yin Profound Monarch Water-Fire Record and formed a Profound Position to contain water and fire; the next stage requires spirit items. (Chapter 1726)
