Helian Wumeng

Helian Wumeng is the Helian Family’s favored “Auspicious Child,” known across Mobei for his strength and appetite for battle. He is blunt and aggressive, yet his southern campaign shows that he can also plan patiently when a direct assault would waste the family’s advantage. (Chapters 1431, 1436, 1438–1441)

Biography

The southern campaign

Wumeng directs his forces around Mount Tangdao rather than spending them on a difficult siege, choosing the weaker Purple Mansion powers along the river as the better prize. He also uses deception to turn the Li family into bait: disguised followers infiltrate their defenses and capture key figures to draw Li Ximing out. His impatience and contempt for cautious allies are tempered by an eye for where the Helian Family can gain the most. (Chapters 1431, 1436)

A battle that ends in retreat

Wumeng meets Li Zhouwei in battle and presses him with his long-handled blade and Baleful Essence arts. When Zhouwei closes through his shifting Baleful Qi, Wumeng releases the eighteen Western Subjugation Glazed Stars he had held back as a decisive weapon. Neither fighter secures a clean victory, but the northern forces withdraw; Wumeng leaves with a scar that soon begins to fade. Later, he stands with Wujiang in weighing the family’s alliances and grudges, and restrains himself from crossing Ning Wan’s formation when her sword makes the risk too great. (Chapters 1438–1441, 1506, 1526, 1561)

Appearance and personality

Wumeng is handsome and imposing, first seen in a white feathered robe with a long pole-blade and eighteen glazed beads at his waist. He later wears silver armor. He is impatient, proud, and exhilarated by combat, though he can hold back when a formation or stronger opponent makes the cost clear. (Chapters 1431, 1435, 1438, 1526)

Abilities and cultivation

Wumeng uses the Baleful Essence Body Divine Ability to dissolve into Baleful Qi and move within it, making his true body difficult to locate. He wields a long-handled blade through that shifting form, attacking from the haze while resisting ordinary force. The Western Subjugation Glazed Stars are his concealed trump card; he releases all eighteen when he sees an opening against Zhouwei. (Chapters 1439–1441)
