Han Wenxu

Biography
Doctor and teacher on Mount Dali
In his twenties, Wenxu trained as an apothecary in a prefectural medicine store; a fatal incident following a moment of anger forced him to flee and seek refuge on Mount Dali. He spent the next two decades treating villagers and teaching their children. By the time Li Xiangping announces a family matter before the villagers, Wenxu’s support lends it authority; he also tutors Li Xuanxuan and teaches dozens of local students. Though he has no children of his own, he treats the Li children as family. (Chapters 21, 30, 32, 35)
A mentor beyond the classroom
Wenxu remains close to the Li family’s younger generation, greeting Li Chejing as a former pupil even after Chejing’s status makes Wenxu lower his head. He also spends time with Chen Erniu, gently teasing the family’s tradition of naming sons after bodies of water. When Erniu asks him to name a newborn, Wenxu chooses Chen Donghe to honor that tradition. (Chapters 35, 57, 78)
Appearance and personality
Wenxu is nearing fifty and has gray hair at his sideburns by the time he teaches Li Xuanxuan. He is thoughtful and affectionate toward his students, with a dry humor that appears in conversation with Chen Erniu. (Chapters 35, 57)
Abilities and cultivation
Wenxu trained as an apothecary and worked for many years as a village doctor. His established skills lie in medicine, teaching, and practical judgment; no cultivation realm is known. (Chapters 21, 35)
