Wuornos

Wuornos, titled God's Chosen, is the Arcane Church's chief guard and a pinnacle Beyond Grade A Esper long recognized by his peers as the strongest individual of his grade. His God-granting ability, Giant bloodline, and compatibility with the Church National Treasure let him create powerful God Embodiments, though he generally prefers prayer and cultivation to public action.

Biography

Intelligent Plague and the Association

Wuornos is initially discussed as the reclusive guardian who rarely leaves the Temple of Ten Thousand Gods. He appears publicly beside the Pope at the post-plague award ceremony, where even Kasuyi warns Han not to provoke him. He later attends the Beyond Grade A Association's activities without showing interest in public debate or fighting. His inactivity keeps him obscure to ordinary galactic society, but other pinnacle experts regard him as an exceptional threat; by Chapter 1191, Han considers Wuornos the only contemporary Beyond Grade A who might still threaten him individually. (Chapters 1044, 1069, 1146–1148, and 1191)

Sanctum Revival and the Super Crisis

When the Church needs protection for its Sanctum research, Wuornos sends a God Embodiment rather than leaving his prayers. He is later ordered into the confrontation with Han and, despite respecting his opponent, accepts that his status as a direct member requires him to fight. Wuornos grants Han's deified Mechanical Deity into a mirrored combatant, deploys other embodiments, and enlarges his Giant body, but after more than a day he concludes that he cannot win and admits defeat. The decision helps end the civilizations' attempt to subdue the association through individual force. Han subsequently draws Divinity Enhancement from him, but that copied talent does not transfer Wuornos's identity or allegiance. (Chapters 1263, 1285, and 1302–1312)

The World Tree War

The Arcane Church repeatedly withholds Wuornos from the war, while he focuses on reaching the grade beyond Beyond Grade A. He helps Han's advancement experiment as the Esper representative, witnesses the birth of the Transcendent Grade, and retrieves the unsealed Ten Thousand Deity Scepter. Wuornos then imitates the visible conditions of Han's promotion, realizes the transformation lacks a crucial element, and deliberately aborts it; he survives severe backlash and spends the next decade recovering and searching for what is missing. He refuses frontline requests unless the Church's mother planet is attacked, watches the final battle remotely, and eventually awakens a sense for a Beyonder's Vestige. After the war he leads a Church fleet into unexplored space to find it. A claim in Chapter 1453 that he was forced into battle belongs to a deliberately fabricated intelligence report, not his actual later history. (Chapters 1324–1448 and 1452–1453)

Appearance and personality

Wuornos is naturally enormous because of his Giant ancestry, yet his face and manner are understated: he resembles an ordinary middle-aged man with wrinkled eyes and wears silver-gray sacrificial robes. Divine script-like auras surround him during prayer. He is calm, aloof, sparing with words, and largely indifferent to politics or reputation. Although confident enough to demand a solo duel, he is not blindly proud: he admits defeat when victory is impossible, refuses to blame Han for his own rushed promotion, and reverses the process at grave personal risk rather than accept a false breakthrough. His defining ambition is transcendence, not battlefield glory. (Chapters 1146–1148, 1263, 1302–1308, 1398–1400, and 1427–1448)

Abilities and class

Wuornos is a pinnacle Beyond Grade A Esper whose core ability “grants Gods,” materializing deified concepts as independent God Embodiments. An embodiment's abilities and strength depend on the concept, its believers, and their faith; deified living targets can produce combat copies inheriting much of the original's power. The Church National Treasure integrated with him guarantees the granting process and lets him embody the breadth of religions unified by the Church. He can deploy several embodiments, teleport, heal through a suitable deity, and use fully transformed Giant blood to reach immense size and Pugilist-like physical strength. His Divinity Enhancement talent amplifies religious and God's Trait Transformation abilities. (Chapters 1263 and 1304–1312)

Relationships

  • Han Xiao: Wuornos respects Han, fights him only under direct orders, and becomes one of the few opponents able to sustain a prolonged solo contest with him. He later helps and studies Han's transcendence, correctly recognizing that the visible method is incomplete.
  • Pope: The Pope treats Wuornos as the Arcane Church's greatest direct hope and grants him substantial independence. Their interests align around a Church Transcendent, though the Pope is frustrated by Wuornos's defeat, aborted promotion, and refusal to join the war.
  • Kasuyi: Kasuyi understands Wuornos's reputation and later joins him among the peak experts assisting Han's promotion experiment.
  • Clotti and Oulou: The three are corresponding pinnacle guard captains of the Universal Civilizations. Wuornos is more reclusive than the other two and insists on replacing, rather than joining, their group attack against Han.
  • The Arcane Church: Wuornos obeys absolute orders but places cultivation above ordinary deployments. He remains a direct member when he leaves with a Church fleet, rather than becoming an unaffiliated explorer.

Items

The Arcane Church National Treasure is a core Universal Treasure integrated into Wuornos and central to the title God's Chosen. It stabilizes and guarantees his God-granting ability and later helps him survive reversing his promotion. The Ten Thousand Deity Scepter is another Church-owned Universal Treasure assigned to him as a weapon and uniquely compatible with his power; after Han unseals it, Wuornos verifies its condition and returns it to Church custody. Neither artifact has a linked item article in the current catalog. (Chapters 1263, 1306–1307, 1387–1399)
