Rody

Rody Anchor is an ordinary Aquamarine civilian who begins transforming into a sub-body of the Primal Esper Ability Entity known as Destiny's Child. The incomplete change makes him a semi–High Dimensional Information Form who is nearly impossible to observe, while also giving him uncontrolled and physically exhausting glimpses of possible futures.

Biography

Intelligent Plague and the Association

Rody survives the Mutation Disaster as a child, grows into a forty-eight-year-old operations vice-manager, and lives quietly in Ice Forest City until his information-state mutation erases him from ordinary observation and records. He spends months unable to make anyone notice him before traveling to Floating Dragon, where Harrison and Aesop can see him. After Rody asks for help, Han Xiao establishes an information connection and discovers that the transformation will eventually replace Rody's personality. Han cannot cure it, so he slows it with Information Form restrainers. Rody later cooperates in the search for Aesop, producing a prophecy of Aesop's apparent death and supplying clues that help trace him. That vision concerns the current plot; Han's recollection that Aesop died in his prior life is separate background, not an event Rody experienced in that earlier timeline. The World Tree War

Rody does not directly appear during the World Tree War. Han later compares a concealment mark from Destiny's Child to the “closed information loop” that once made Rody unobservable, using that known property while infiltrating World Tree territory. The comparison confirms the continuing relevance of Rody's condition but does not say that his transformation finished, that his original personality was replaced, or that he was present in the operation. His fate after the earlier search therefore remains unconfirmed. (Chapter 1319)

Appearance and personality

Rody is a pale-skinned, middle-aged Aquamarine man. By the time Harrison finds him, months of isolation have left him extremely thin, weak, dusty, and dressed in ragged clothes. He is anxious, lonely, soft-spoken, and desperate to regain a normal life, but also cooperative and effusively grateful when Han offers help. His fear increases when painful prophecy tests repeatedly make him faint, yet he follows instructions because Han is his only realistic hope of stopping the transformation. Abilities and class

Rody begins as a completely ordinary person with no Super class. At 37.1 percent transformation, he has partial traits of a High Dimensional Information Form: most people, machines, databases, and surveillance systems cannot observe or retain information about him, while people with a sufficiently strong information connection can see and touch him. Passing through a life form makes him read portions of its information and can trigger random foresight, but the energy cost overwhelms his ordinary body and causes unconsciousness. He cannot control the target of the prophecy reliably, and full transformation threatens to create a new personality rather than simply advancing his powers. (Chapters 1129–1131 and 1159–1161)

Relationships

• Han Xiao: Rody admires Han as Aquamarine's savior and asks him for treatment. Han studies the transformation, restrains its progress, and later uses Rody's uncontrolled prophecy to help locate Aesop.
• Harrison: Harrison is the first member of Han's search party able to see Rody directly. He finds him unconscious on Floating Dragon, relays his words, and helps establish contact.
• Aesop: Aesop can perceive Rody and helps interpret his information-form condition. Rody later focuses his foresight on Aesop, producing the warning that prompts a serious search.
• Feidin: Feidin accompanies the search operation in which Rody's prophecy is combined with favorable luck and Han's technological investigation.

Items

Rody has no persistent named personal item. Han houses him in a hibernation cabin surrounded by Information Form restrainers and uses restorative injections after prophecy episodes, but this equipment belongs to the Black Star Army's research and medical facilities rather than to Rody.
