Old Man Lu

Old Man Lu is the irascible elder who claims ownership of Lu Qian's Western Capital repair workshop. A retired master Mechanic and D-class Super, he recognizes Han Xiao's dangerous experience, tests his technical ability, and eventually lets him use both the workshop and a valuable library of mechanical knowledge.

Biography

Escape from Germinal and the Aquamarine War

Old Man Lu meets Han Xiao while abandoning a losing Five in a Row game and immediately objects when Lu Qian proposes hiring the stranger. He sets an intentionally harsh repair test, only for Han Xiao to finish it with ease, and remains suspicious because the young mechanic carries himself like someone who has killed before. Despite the grumbling, he allows Han Xiao to stay, later lends him Mechanic books after Han draws an assassin away from the shop, and provides a garage for his enormous truck. He also repeatedly tries to match Han with Lu Qian. His last direct scene is with Frenzied Sword, when he complains that Han left without saying goodbye and still insists that his granddaughter should have been attractive enough to keep him. Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Old Man Lu does not directly appear during the Mutation Disaster. Years later, Han Xiao finds the repair shop closed and decaying, with neither Lu Qian nor her grandfather present. Han reasons that a D-class veteran such as Old Man Lu would have protected Lu Qian and believes that they may have settled in another city. That conclusion is Han's inference, not a confirmed sighting: the later scene supports probable survival but leaves Old Man Lu's location, circumstances, and ultimate fate unknown. (Chapter 670)

Appearance and personality

Old Man Lu is a short, bearded elderly man with long, unkempt hair and a balding patch that he rubs while thinking. He is proud, sharp-tongued, suspicious, and comically competitive, especially when losing at board games or arguing with Han Xiao. Beneath that abrasive manner, he is observant and protective. He quickly notices Han's veteran instincts, worries about danger reaching Lu Qian, rewards help even while complaining, and expresses affection through practical favors and persistent matchmaking. Abilities and class

Old Man Lu is identified as one of the few D-class Supers in the Western Capital and as an accomplished Mechanic from an older generation. His expertise spans a broad mechanical knowledge library, rare blueprints, technical assessment, and workshop practice. The entrance test he gives Han is difficult enough to expose unusual skill, and Han regards the old man's stored knowledge as exceptionally comprehensive. The corpus establishes his grade and experience but does not show him fighting directly or provide a detailed class build. (Chapters 21–23, 64, 89, 122, and 163–165)

Relationships

• Han Xiao: Old Man Lu distrusts and tests Han at first, then lets him live and work at the shop, lends him books, and gives him workspace. His complaints conceal respect and disappointment at Han's abrupt departure.
• Lu Qian: Lu Qian is his granddaughter and housemate. He is protective of her safety and future, even if his efforts to pair her with Han embarrass or irritate the younger people involved.
• Lu Cheng: Lu Cheng is his estranged son. Old Man Lu resents the path Lu Cheng chose, yet quietly supports him through rare blueprints and intermediaries rather than severing the family bond completely.
