Nero

Nero is Bennett's son, Han Xiao's godson, and a gifted Mechanic raised between Planet Aquamarine and the Black Star Army. His Perfect Mechanical Sense and unusual luck make him an exceptional prospect, but his development is driven by education, battlefield failures, and increasing responsibility rather than talent alone. He eventually reaches Beyond Grade A and succeeds Han Xiao as the army's acting commander.

Biography

The Evolution Cube and Crimson Dynasty

Nero first appears as a schoolchild on Planet Aquamarine who knows Black Star as a living historical figure but has not yet understood his father's connection to him. Bennett introduces him during a call, and Han Xiao recognizes the child's Advanced Luck Glow and exceptional mechanical potential. When Bennett entrusts Nero to his old friend, Nero is frightened that his parents are sending him away but also fascinated by the galaxy. He clings to Han Xiao during departure, then chooses the Mechanic class after seeing the machinery surrounding his godfather. (Chapters 737–816)

Life in the army replaces wonder with demanding education. Reynold supervises a curriculum so strict that Nero develops heavy eye bags and repeatedly pleads for relief, while Han Xiao alternates indulgent outings with high expectations. Travel through the Crimson Dynasty broadens Nero's understanding of civilizations and gives him direct contact with the scale of galactic society. He remains an affectionate, curious child who wants fewer assignments, but he also learns to value rare knowledge and accepts that being Black Star's student means preparing for responsibilities far beyond those of Bennett's protected heir. The Flickering World

As Nero grows, he returns to Aquamarine and sees Bennett aging under the burden of leadership. The sight replaces his desire to waste a holiday with a developing sense of responsibility, and he resumes studying machinery voluntarily. He later joins the army's exploration forces without asking Han Xiao for special protection. When the Kunde War begins, Nero is frightened by the prospect of killing and dying, yet he refuses to withdraw because he wants to justify his godfather's training and stand beside ordinary squad members rather than remain a privileged observer. His first campaign nearly becomes a disaster. A reconnaissance mission enters an enemy trap, and Nero fights effectively enough to lead survivors toward escape, contacting Han Xiao only when Mia is captured and beyond his ability to save. Han Xiao's hidden machines rescue both teams, while Nero interprets the intervention as a lesson in preparation and promises not to rely on luck. He returns more disciplined, graduates as a qualified army warrior, and develops Perfect Mechanical Sense, turning a frightening failure into the foundation of his professional maturity and one of Han Xiao's most valuable inherited talents. Intelligent Plague and the Association

Nero becomes one of the active leaders of the army's academy faction, representing Super Academy graduates within an organization whose internal groups increasingly need mediation. His strength reaches the upper range below Beyond Grade A, though direct combat comparisons show that talent and Advanced Luck Glow do not automatically let him defeat every veteran Calamity Grade. Han Xiao can project Nero's Perfect Mechanical Sense through a Character Summon Card, but Nero himself must continue accumulating knowledge, machinery, and experience to convert that aptitude into durable command and combat power. While directing operations against Modo in the Shattered Star Ring, Nero works with Aesop's prophecies to locate and destroy hidden bases. He tries to protect the old foreseer but yields when Aesop angrily rejects guards, partly because Nero does not want to seem childish by appealing to Han Xiao over a personal dispute. Aesop then disappears, leaving Nero to report the failure and mobilize the search. The incident exposes the cost of hesitant authority: respecting a senior's autonomy is reasonable, but command still requires acting on risks that cannot be smoothed over by politeness. Sanctum Revival and the Super Crisis

During the struggle over Beyond Grade A seeds, Nero leads an escort fleet to receive Morgan and bring him safely into the Black Star Army. He identifies that the coordinated assassinations require a powerful intelligence network and advanced backing, showing that he can assess the political implications of an operation rather than merely follow a route. His calm, professional contact contrasts with the frightened child who once left Aquamarine; he now represents the army to prospective high-level recruits and carries responsibility for lives whose loss could affect the balance among universal powers. Nero nonetheless remains embedded in a web of familial expectations. Outsiders joke that Bennett's long tenure leaves him a “hundred-year-old prince,” while colleagues regard Nero as the dependable alternative when assignments become exhausting. He does not seize political status on Aquamarine or rely on his parentage for authority. Instead, his position comes through sustained army service, the academy network, and delegated missions. This distinction prepares him for later succession: he learns to carry Han Xiao's institutional trust without treating either Bennett's office or Black Star's organization as a personal inheritance. The World Tree War

Nero's private life advances alongside the approaching war. He and Mia form a lasting partnership, visit Bennett together, and remain close to their Aquamarine family even as both serve in the army. When Han Xiao gathers Beyond Grade A seeds for intensive training, Nero joins rather than assuming his famous godfather can guarantee his advancement. More than a decade of high-pressure instruction finally brings him to Beyond Grade A, giving the army a new Mechanic capable of standing among the generation meant to sustain the Supers Holy Land after the older experts step back. After the war, Han Xiao appoints Nero acting Army Commander because leadership of the Supers Holy Land makes daily control of the Black Star Army inappropriate. Nero initially fears that he cannot carry an organization Han Xiao built from nothing, especially one containing many Beyond Grade As. He accepts after learning that Han Xiao will remain commander in name and receive reports. The hesitation reflects respect for the burden rather than refusal: Nero takes operational responsibility while preserving continuity, completing the path from dependent godson to the person trusted with Han Xiao's institutional legacy. Under Nero, the Black Star Army retains strict standards. He does not turn leadership into patronage, and even people connected to senior officers must qualify and advance through their own ability. This preserves the culture that made his own upbringing demanding: access can open a door, but study, service, and competence determine what follows. Appearance and personality

Nero begins as a small, cute child with a school bag and an expressive face that reddens easily. Intensive study gives him pronounced dark circles and a permanently sleepy look. Even as an adult, he remains short and has a youthful, almost childish face, though his bearing becomes steadier after battlefield experience. He commonly operates in a mechanical suit; the armor makes him look more imposing until he removes the helmet and reveals the same young features. (Chapters 737, 794, 862, 965, 993, and 1012)

He is kind, curious, conscientious, and initially shy around powerful adults. Nero enjoys comfort and complains about excessive homework, but guilt and responsibility repeatedly overcome laziness. He does not want preferential treatment in war, risks himself for teammates, and asks for help when Mia's life matters more than his pride. Experience makes him calmer and more authoritative without removing his warmth, modesty, or anxiety about failing people who trust him. Mechanical Force and engineering

Han Xiao activates Nero's Mechanical Force after he chooses the Mechanic class. Nero learns mechanical theory, fabrication, maintenance, control, and battlefield engineering under Reynold and the army's educational system. As a student soldier, he is trusted with unit devices because he is the strongest Mechanic in his reconnaissance group. He prefers researching and building his own equipment, even when stronger ready-made gear is available, a habit that develops independent technical judgment rather than mere reliance on Black Star's workshop. Perfect Mechanical Sense

Perfect Mechanical Sense is Nero's defining Mechanic talent. It gives him extraordinary instinct for machinery, improves the performance of Mechanic abilities, and marks him as a prospect capable of reaching the highest grade. The talent is valuable enough that Han Xiao deliberately earns a projection of it and uses its bonus in his own advancement. Natural sense does not supply missing blueprints, materials, energy, or experience, so Nero's long education and combat practice remain necessary to realize what the aptitude makes possible. Advanced Luck Glow

Nero possesses Advanced Luck Glow, a rare trait associated with improbable opportunities, helpful encounters, and survival. It contributes to the gifts and protection he receives and makes Han Xiao regard him as a source of good fortune. Luck does not guarantee correct decisions or direct victory: Nero still enters traps, loses teammates, requires rescue, and cannot overcome stronger Calamity Grades merely through favorable probability. Physical and psychic enhancements

As a child, Nero receives concentrated life energy from Aurora, a Dead Spirit Mark from Hila, a psychic barrier from Feidin, and rare biological strengthening resources. These gifts raise cell activity, protect his mind, and give his developing body physical capability beyond an ordinary child. They are supplementary defenses and growth aids rather than the source of his Mechanic class. By adolescence his physique can match an adult's, though his height and youthful appearance remain largely unchanged. (Chapters 794 and 916)

Combat machinery and Beyond Grade A

Nero fights through mechanical suits and constructed devices. His self-made Iron Ape armor is a simplified close-combat design inspired by Han Xiao's earlier equipment, reflecting a tendency to combine Mechanic control with durable frontline operation. The corpus establishes the promotion and his succession but provides less detail about a unique post-promotion arsenal, so his confirmed strengths remain mechanical aptitude, broad army resources, and extensive operational experience rather than an unsupported signature weapon. Nero has no persistent named item in his assigned inventory. His most characteristic equipment is the Iron Ape, a simplified close-combat mechanical suit he designs from an earlier Black Star pattern. As a child he also receives protective gifts from senior Black Star officers, but these function as early safeguards and enhancements rather than a personal artifact that defines his later career.
