Mo Ran

Mo Ran is one of Stardragon's rarely deployed national trump cards and a senior Division 13 operative. He coordinates surveillance during the Dark Net's internal crisis and represents a level of national strength above ordinary covert teams.

Biography

Escape from Germinal and the Aquamarine War

Mo Ran leads Division 13 agents to River Valley Manor and reunites with Wang Yuan after more than ten years. Learning that Dark Net traitors are attacking the incumbent leadership, he assigns Di Su Su and other agents to monitor the hired assassins and later coordinates warnings after the Invisible Demon kills several of them. He helps pass Wang Yuan's summons to the masked Mr. Black and authorizes adding that sniper—Han Xiao—to Division 13's extreme-threat file after reviewing his performance. Wang Yuan later treats Mo Ran's attitude as evidence that the Six Nations will support Bennett's sanctuary plan. A later comparison identifies an Ordina ace as holding a position similar to Mo Ran's, but does not record Mo Ran's own later activities or fate. (Chapters 113, 115, 117–119, 121, and 170)

Appearance and personality

Mo Ran is an older man whose face is usually described as expressionless or poker-faced. His clipped orders, rapid departure after meetings, and immediate suppression of an old dispute with Bennett reflect an efficient, controlled temperament. Surprise can still be heard in his voice even when his expression barely changes. (Chapter 113)

Abilities and class

Mo Ran is one of the secret national elites who guard outposts and command situations behind the scenes, ranking above regular Division 13 covert operatives. A past challenge to Bennett implies personal combat ability, but Bennett says he defeated him, and the corpus does not state Mo Ran's class, grade, weapon, or named technique. (Chapter 113)

Relationships

• Wang Yuan: They are old acquaintances who meet again after more than a decade. Mo Ran coordinates Division 13 support during the Dark Net leadership crisis. (Chapters 113 and 117–119)
• Bennett: Mo Ran previously challenged Bennett and lost. He refuses to dwell on that history and later supports circumstances surrounding Bennett's sanctuary plan. (Chapters 113 and 119)
• Di Su Su: Di Su Su reports surveillance and threat assessments to Mo Ran, who authorizes her recommendations and directs the field monitoring. (Chapters 113, 115, 117, and 121)
• Han Xiao: Mo Ran initially knows him only as the masked assassin Mr. Black. After receiving Di Su Su's report, he approves Han's classification as an extreme threat. (Chapters 115–121)
