Wang Yuan
Wang Yuan is an elderly founding leader of the neutral Dark Net Organization and an old friend of Bennett. Internal traitors target him in an attempt to seize the organization, prompting the guarded River Valley Manor operation through which he meets Han Xiao's assassin identity, Mr. Black.
Biography
Escape from Germinal and the Aquamarine War
Wang Yuan gathers mercenaries and Blood Pact assassins at River Valley Manor while Bennett secretly protects him, using the apparent vulnerability to draw out Dark Net leaders who want to abandon neutrality and take power. He hires Han as Mr. Black, worries when the Invisible Demon hunts his guards, and rewards Han's decisive intervention by promoting him directly to Ghost rank and doubling his payment. With the traitors removed, Wang Yuan and Bennett advance their larger shelter plan, seeking material support from the Six Nations before war and disaster overtake the continent. Wang remains involved when the pilot shelter is being prepared in Chapter 166, but the corpus gives no later direct scene or death for him. (Chapters 110–123, 145, and 166)
Appearance and personality
Wang Yuan is a bald elderly man with a beard, black-framed spectacles, and a deliberate way of speaking. He projects courtesy and restraint, offering the manor to his guards and promising extra compensation without revealing sensitive information unnecessarily. Beneath that mild presentation, he is a practiced clandestine leader: he supports baiting the traitors, recognizes dangerous underworld Supers, and responds coldly when their corruption becomes clear. He is also generous toward effective subordinates, using rank and money to secure Han's goodwill rather than pretending the assassin's contribution was routine. (Chapters 110–121 and 145)
Abilities and class
No Super class, energy ability, or personal combat feat is established for Wang Yuan. His power is organizational. As one of the Dark Net's original leaders, he commands resources, hires and ranks members of the Blood Pact Society, maintains intelligence on criminal Supers, and negotiates with national representatives. His judgment helps preserve the organization's neutrality and then redirect its influence and resources toward Bennett's shelter initiative. Bennett's constant protection during the assassination plot further indicates that Wang is a strategic principal rather than the operation's frontline fighter. (Chapters 111–121, 123, and 145–166)
Relationships
- Bennett: Wang and Bennett are old friends and fellow Dark Net leaders. Bennett protects him personally, while Wang helps create the political and logistical conditions for their shelter plan.
- Han Xiao: Wang first knows Han as the assassin Mr. Black. Impressed by his skill and final shots during the manor operation, he raises Han to Ghost rank and pays him substantially above the original agreement.
- Mo Ran: Wang and the Division 13 veteran have known each other for more than a decade. Their reunion helps connect the Dark Net's shelter proposal with possible support from the Six Nations.
- Dark Net traitors: The internal opposition wants the organization to abandon neutrality and covets its leadership and resources. Wang allows himself to appear vulnerable so the conspiracy can be exposed and removed.
Items
Wang Yuan's black-framed spectacles are his only recurring personal object. River Valley Manor, the hired security force, and the Dark Net's resources support his operation, but they are organizational assets rather than unique equipment or supernatural artifacts. (Chapters 110 and 145)
