Fortitude Tree King is the Mechanic among the World Tree Civilization's Great Tree Kings. Once an obsessive researcher, he becomes notably indolent after receiving a crown, preferring to remain inside the Mother Tree while avatars and transformed machinery fight in his place.

Biography

The World Tree War

Fortitude Tree King enters the war as Heart Tree King's armored fellow ruler, offering his Lord's Avatar, Apostle Weapons, and mechanical army so Heart can survive the next offensive and continue handling affairs. His stated concern is partly self-serving: he wants to return to the Mother Tree and avoid administration. Once summoned, his green Mechanical Deity blocks Han Xiao, and he later develops a bitter battlefield rivalry with Herberlon, whose varied capabilities make him a difficult counter to a Mechanic. Fortitude continues fighting after his full body is deployed and survives into the Tree God's final campaign, but the Mother Tree eventually removes his crown position and transfers its power to Ancestral Tree King. The crown is then shattered to strengthen the Tree God. Heart Tree King's later accounting explicitly lists Fortitude among the dead Tree Kings whose crowns were lost, and the corpus shows no subsequent restoration. Appearance and personality

Fortitude Tree King is initially shown covered in heavy armor, with a mask concealing his face; his combat manifestations favor dark-green mechanical bodies and enormous Mechanical Deity forms. He is cold-spoken, observant, and tactically cautious, but extraordinarily lazy after becoming a Tree King.
