Mother Tree

Mother Tree is the independent will that originally governs the World Tree and directs the civilization connected to it. It is not the collective identity of every World Tree member: those members retain individual thoughts and lives despite their compelled loyalty. During the final battle, the Pivotal Snake devours Mother Tree's will, allowing Han Xiao to take control of the surviving World Tree.

Biography

The World Tree War

Mother Tree's appetite drives the World Tree Civilization to consume unfamiliar beings and acquire their information, and its commands reach Tree Kings and other members through their connection to the World Tree. Its authority can project through sufficiently powerful servants and replenish ships, soldiers, and fallen high-level combatants from stored information forms. These revivals restore connected World Tree members; they are not appearances of Mother Tree being revived. Once the Pivotal Snake matures enough to reveal the main body's location, Han reaches the World Tree and forms a Soul Connection. The snake completely devours Mother Tree's independent will, leaving the main body temporarily unable to act until Han assumes its control rights. He then recalls the fleets and stores the completed World Tree in his inner space. The World Tree's body and civilization survive, but Mother Tree as the former autonomous controller does not. (Chapters 1322–1324, 1335–1342, 1352, 1356–1362, 1370–1371, 1408–1412, 1417, 1421–1422, 1427–1439, and 1441–1442)

Information Form and the Final Relay

After Han replaces Mother Tree's will, the World Tree population continues to possess self-awareness while obeying a new supreme authority. Heart Tree King manages the civilization beneath Han, and its soldiers still invoke Mother Tree as part of their inherited devotion, but they also call Han “Father God” and place his will above hers. The shout “For the mother tree” in Chapter 1454 is therefore a cultural expression by surviving World Tree members, not evidence that the destroyed independent will has returned. No later revival of Mother Tree is shown in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 1442 and 1454)

Appearance and personality

Mother Tree is not given a separate humanoid or creature form. It exists as the independent will within the World Tree's colossal main body, whose history appears to Han as a small sprout growing into an immense tree spanning worlds through its branches and roots. Its defining disposition is an intense appetite for new beings, abilities, information, and civilizations, developed from the sacrifices and worship offered during its early growth. (Chapters 1324, 1438–1441)

Abilities and class

Mother Tree has no stated Super class. Through the World Tree it can direct connected members, share information over a mental network, project authority through Tree Kings, devour and convert targets, replenish fleets and soldiers, and restore fallen members from stored information forms after a recovery period. These are system-level powers of the World Tree under its original will, not abilities individually possessed by every citizen. Once the Pivotal Snake erases that will, Han obtains the same control authority over the intact system. (Chapters 1322–1324, 1335, 1340–1342, 1352, 1412, and 1438–1442)

Relationships

  • Han Xiao: Mother Tree initially wants Han devoured as valuable foreign information. Han ultimately forms a Soul Connection to the World Tree after the Pivotal Snake destroys its will and replaces it as supreme controller. (Chapters 1322–1324 and 1438–1442)
  • Pivotal Snake: The Pivotal Snake is Mother Tree's natural enemy. It can locate the main body, devours Mother Tree's will, and then merges with the World Tree to strengthen Han's control connection. (Chapters 1408–1412 and 1438–1441)
  • Ancestral Tree King: The Ancestral Tree King executes the World Tree's highest military authority while remaining subordinate to Mother Tree's governing will. He treats eliminating the Pivotal Snake as essential to protecting it. (Chapters 1412 and 1421–1436)
  • Heart Tree King: Heart Tree King acts as a senior executor under Mother Tree and later accepts management of the World Tree Civilization after Han replaces its will. His continued life and self-awareness show that a World Tree member is not identical to the collective controller. (Chapters 1335, 1342, and 1442)
  • Subduing Tree King: Subduing Tree King obeys Mother Tree's demand to capture and offer Han, treating its appetite as a mission he cannot refuse. (Chapters 1322–1324)

Items

Mother Tree has no separate personal item. The World Tree is its original body and governing system rather than an object merely carried by it; that body survives after the independent will is destroyed and becomes a controlled asset of Han. (Chapters 1438–1442)
