Befuli

Befuli, known as Fiery Eyes, is a Grade B Esper and officer of the Purple Snake Space Pirates. His attempt to steal Han Xiao's BlackLight Stealth leaves him a captive and an unwilling source of Super-Gene material.

Biography

Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Befuli encounters Han at Juberly Hub and refuses to attack him directly, understanding that Black Star is too powerful. Greed nevertheless leads him to target the apparently unattended BlackLight Stealth. Its intelligent controller activates the ship's defenses, defeats his boarding party, and leaves him severely injured. Han takes Befuli captive and repeatedly extracts his Super-Gene until the pirate is emaciated and near death. When Sykes captures Black Star mercenaries to demand his return, Han uses Befuli as a tracking marker, rescues the hostages, and still releases him. Back aboard the Purple Snake flagship, Befuli is alive but badly weakened and terrified of Black Star. (Chapters 548–550 and 593–597)

Appearance and personality

Befuli first appears as a burly human with a messy beard, heavy combat clothing, a malevolent face, dark-red eyes without visible whites, and white pupils. He is volatile enough to choke a subordinate for speaking presumptuously, yet practical enough to avoid a direct fight with a superior enemy. His greed defeats that caution, and captivity replaces his swagger with lasting fear. (Chapters 548–550 and 597)

Abilities and class

Befuli is a Grade B Esper whose Incandescent Eyes project fire at temperatures of several thousand degrees. The beams can melt alloy, sweep through defensive turrets, and intensify from red to dark blue. His transforming heavy armor protects his body and augments the ability, but leaves his eyes exposed. His offense is much stronger than his durability, and the BlackLight Stealth's laser cannons overwhelm him. Han later extracts temporary uses of his Esper power as Character Summon Cards. Relationships

• Han Xiao: Befuli tries to steal Han's ship, becomes his captive, and is repeatedly subjected to Super-Gene extraction before being released.
• Sykes: Sykes is Befuli's captain and arranges a hostage exchange to recover him, though Befuli's crippled condition reduces his value as an officer.
• Risda: Risda controls the BlackLight Stealth and activates its defenses against Befuli's boarding attempt.

Items

Befuli wears heavy combat attire and a transforming armored suit that improves defense and strengthens his eye beams. He also uses ordinary pirate communications and breaching support, but no named personal weapon is established. (Chapters 548–550)
