Jimmy
Jimmy is Hera's son and the eventual leader of the Peacock Warriors. He grows from a shy child who hides behind his mother into an interstellar field commander, negotiator, and attraction designer whose work becomes part of the Midnight Inn itself.
Biography
A shy child at the Inn
Jimmy first accompanies his widowed mother when she gambles on Will Bentham instead of accepting an immediate payout for her golden key. He remains close behind Hera during early meetings and initially struggles to speak to unfamiliar people, but the safety of the Midnight Inn lets him play and socialize. His friendship with Layla turns their games into the Peacock Warriors, with Jimmy acting as her deputy while their raids on peacocks and daycare facilities gradually draw him out of isolation. (Chapters 21–22, 100–110, 211, and 280–374)
Separation and reluctant leadership
Layla's prestigious family separates the children because they consider Jimmy beneath her, leaving him privately devastated and strengthening Hera's determination that no one will look down on him again. When the Inn enters the Midnight realm and its children receive immense physical improvements, Jimmy channels the new power into orderly games rather than uncontrolled destruction. He calms rival groups and effectively takes command of the Peacock Warriors even while refusing the formal declaration, converting personal rejection into responsibility for the companions who remain. (Chapters 624, 946, and 989–994)
The Peacock Warriors beyond childhood
Jimmy eventually leads the Warriors into the Origin realm for real experience. During an assault on a space station, he balances confidence with concern for his companions, accepts chaperone intervention when a charged attack leaves him exposed, then uses a joint rainbow joust with his peacock to break the station's shield and destroy its mechs. When a target dies, he suppresses disappointment and continues the mission, showing discipline beyond the childhood games. Later, although his contacts could help Layla's world directly, he instead recommends a mutually beneficial Rose Society investment and insists their shared childhood no longer governs his future. (Chapters 1405, 1471–1473, and 1543)
Building for the Inn
As an adult leader, Jimmy scouts resources beyond his group's league and offers them to Lex when they might help his training. He also turns the Warriors' coordination drills into the Jungle Gym, a vast, multi-objective Inn attraction. What begins as a peacock-rider training course grows because guests find its demanding challenges entertaining; its layered terrain and cooperative scenarios become creative enough that Lex regrets not conceiving them himself. Jimmy's latest role therefore joins expedition leadership with practical development of the Inn. (Chapters 1798–1799 and 2179–2180)
Appearance and personality
Jimmy is introduced as a young, handsome but extremely shy boy who hides behind Hera and clings to her hand. With age he remains more reserved than the children around him, yet develops formal manners, quiet authority, and the ability to read other people. He is reluctant to claim titles or discuss old feelings, but bold when representing the Peacock Warriors. Even after becoming powerful enough to influence entire worlds, he frames aid to Layla's family as mutual benefit rather than revenge or romantic entitlement. (Chapters 21, 100, 624, 989, and 1543)
Abilities and cultivation
Midnight-realm physical adaptation
The Midnight realm's awakening greatly increases Jimmy's strength, agility, and bodily control. He can leap near the height of buildings, perform aerial flips after brief practice, and handle power that would have overwhelmed the child first seen on Earth. The narrative later presents him as more powerful than Layla's star system but does not supply a canonical cultivation stage, so his exact realm and sublevel remain unstated. (Chapters 459, 989, 1107, and 1543)
Peacock coordination and rainbow joust
Jimmy fights from a peacock mount and can combine its gathered energy with a long jousting weapon. At full charge the pair becomes a rainbow-colored lance of light capable of piercing a space station's barrier, destroying multiple mechs, and producing a devastating shockwave. The technique has a serious tactical limit: both rider and mount must focus on charging, leaving Jimmy unable to dodge or switch techniques, so he needs distraction or protection until release. (Chapters 1471–1472)
Command, planning, and design
Jimmy leads riders, memorizes station routes, checks casualties, questions deviations from a plan, and keeps personal disappointment from halting an operation. Outside combat, he uses contacts for interstellar opportunities and designs training objectives that require precise rider-peacock cooperation. The Jungle Gym shows that he can translate these exercises into safe, repeatable guest challenges, although the Inn's construction powers make the physically impossible portions of the design viable. (Chapters 1472–1473, 1543, 1798, and 2179–2180)
Relationships
- Hera: Hera is Jimmy's mother, protector, and earliest model of resilience. Her ambitions at the Inn are deeply shaped by the humiliation he suffers after being separated from Layla.
- Layla: Layla is Jimmy's childhood friend and original commander. Their forced separation motivates his growth, though he later insists they have taken different paths.
- Z: Jimmy treats Z as an older brother and uses tactical advice learned from him when leading the Peacock Warriors.
- Qawain: Qawain chaperones Jimmy's first major expedition and gives uncompromising criticism meant to make him less dependent on rescue.
- Lex Williams: Lex watches Jimmy grow, assigns him responsibility, and later recognizes the value of his exploration and Inn design work.
Items
Jimmy has no finalized notable-item inventory. His spatial ring, jousting weapon, and peacock mount are associated with his field work but do not have finalized item articles.
