Seaweed

Seaweed is the commander responsible for escorting Abigail Callaway after the Blue Magic Tower's overthrow. He hires Kai LuForia's group as mercenaries and helps carry Abigail back through pirate attacks and the tower's defenses.

Biography

Protecting the tower's heir

Seaweed meets Kai's party at an inn, where he disciplines a subordinate who insults mercenaries and explains that he lacks the magical talent enjoyed by licensed sorcerers. Once assassins attack, he makes Abigail's protection his overriding priority and leads the group toward the harbor, continuing even after one escort dies, two swordsmen are wounded, and the sorcerers exhaust their mana. His caution sometimes conflicts with Kai's irreverence, particularly when he steps between Kai and Abigail, but he recognizes that Kai is their best chance of defeating Carlito. (Chapters 219–223)

At the tower's island base, Seaweed helps catch an infiltrator, fights Carlito's forces beside Selena and Kai's companions, and insists on searching the dungeons once the external battle ends. His worry is vindicated when he finds Abigail crying over Elyn's injuries. The mission succeeds, and Seaweed later directs Kai to Elyn's office, leaving him alive and still attached to the restored tower rather than seeking credit for its liberation. (Chapters 224–229)

Appearance and personality

Seaweed is a middle-aged man with a strong build. When formally meeting the mercenaries, he removes a hood and carries a sword at his hip; the corpus does not specify his hair, eyes, height, or armor. He is disciplined, protective, and socially pragmatic. He corrects disrespect within his own force, remains conscious of class differences between martial escorts and sorcerers, and puts Abigail's safety above pride even when accepting Kai's difficult personality.
