Gracia — The Hero of Hypnosis

Gracia is the goddess who oversees Sarkylla's continent, empowers its Heroes, and maintains the institutions that resist its Demon Kings. Her relationship with Kai LuForia begins as an attempt to fit him into that cycle through the Hero's Sword and a divine blessing. Discovering that he is Leo's son destroys the authority she expected to hold over a mortal champion. Gracia instead becomes a reluctant sponsor, regional intermediary, and eventual petitioner whose need for Kai survives his rejection of her power and title.

Biography

The Hero system and an absent chosen champion

Gracia's influence precedes her direct appearance. She forged the divine sword carried by Rolimont, the first Hero, and reserved authority over its power, although she allowed the blade to accept someone truly worthy. Kai draws it without prior ordination, creating a champion her church did not select or train and forcing her institution to locate a Hero who has no desire to serve it. (Chapters 59–60)

Her church treats the sword's light as a summons. Celeste dispatches a convoy while continuing to observe other candidates because a Demon King is coming. The institution fights cults and supports undead defenses, but its response time and mortal healers remain limited. Kai repeatedly postpones Qasyran, leaving Gracia with considerable religious reach but no practical control over the champion her weapon recognized. (Chapters 71, 80, 92, 101, 125–129)

When Gracia draws Kai into her divine realm, she explains that gods and Demon Kings channel reduced power through mortal champions because direct battle would devastate the world. She expects status, wealth, strength, and sexual privilege to secure his service. His criticism—that the cycle offloads divine failures onto mortal casualties—leaves her unable to refute him, and she finally makes a false promise to become his partner if he accepts her blessing. The blessing fails because Kai's body rejects authority that would normally enter a chosen Hero even against resistance. Looking into him exposes Gracia to progenitor energy and leaves her begging not to have the world purged. Leo's arrival confirms the hierarchy by nearly collapsing her realm. Gracia changes course: she grants Kai voluntary access to her own level of power, enables the sword's full output, and accepts both his delayed public debut and his refusal to work for her. The Demon King crisis and its disputed aftermath

The compromise does not ensure that Gracia's champions will be present when needed. After Horith dies and Kai remains absent from ShadowEdge's battlefield, Gracia nearly descends personally, but Leo stops her. She must watch the Demon King devastate the continent, realizing the fear behind her recruitment efforts: her church can mobilize armies, yet the divine system leaves her unable to intervene safely when its mortal instruments fail. (Chapter 177)

Kai returns and defeats Malgus with power acquired outside Gracia's training. She requests a Qasyran celebration honoring him and Horith, and secures his attendance only by promising access to her nuns. Gracia then restores the continent while leaving hidden demon bases unrestored. When Kai later represents the mass sexual encounter as her ritual, she angrily rejects that use of her worship, yet still contacts Aquaphina and arranges passage through both goddesses' barriers. Rejected authority and a wider divine alliance

Kai ends their formal sponsorship during his dispute with Barry. Rather than accept the claim that a Hero must serve strangers according to a universal moral code, he tears Gracia's power from his soul and sends it back with the sword. Gracia does not retaliate. When she next summons him, she questions the removal but acknowledges that his demigod status has made her power unnecessary. (Chapters 301, 345)

Her later request places them on pragmatic terms. Progenitor Decay has disrupted several continents, and her sister Rauna needs help in Astalith. Gracia relays the danger and coordinates with Rauna after Kai's parents direct her toward him. Kai mocks the idea of unpaid service but agrees because the mission fits his journey. Gracia's latest role is therefore not commanding a Hero, but connecting allied gods to an independent actor they cannot replace. (Chapter 345)

Appearance and personality

Gracia appears as a beautiful woman with fair skin, brown hair, white eyes, and sharply pointed eyes. Her near-perfect church statue depicts a curvy figure with a large bust and hips, although the corpus does not specify her height or clothing. Her divine realm is a paradise above the clouds, containing a valley, lakes, a rainbow, and a golden castle; her projected light is bright enough to hurt Kai's eyes. (Chapters 130, 180, 187)

She is proud of divine hierarchy, protective of her continent, and accustomed to reverence, but emotionally transparent under pressure. Kai makes her stammer, bargain, and rage; Leo reduces that pride to terrified formality. Gracia is nevertheless flexible enough to change Kai's empowerment when blessing fails, restore civilian lands, negotiate with Aquaphina, and seek help after Kai rejects her title. Her reluctant compromises preserve cooperation when authority cannot. (Chapters 130–132, 177–180, 210, 345)

Powers and abilities

Gracia is already an established goddess whenever she appears. The chapters show no advancement through the Mana Tiers, Adventurer Ranks, or Divine Ladder and no persistent structural transformation.

Divine existence, realm, and domain

As a third-generation divine being, Gracia governs a continent and says gods do not truly die; defeat instead forces them into stasis until they recover. Her realm receives mortal consciousness for direct conversation and returns it to the body, while she can project herself elsewhere. Leo's fractional presence nearly collapses that realm, establishing a clear ceiling on both the environment and Gracia's cosmic standing. (Chapters 130–132, 180, 210, 345)

Hero blessings and holy power

Gracia gives chosen mortals power to oppose reduced Demon King manifestations without destructive divine combat. Her blessing carries authority that can compel demon-hunting duty, though she distinguishes it from total mind control and says she would not normally force it. Her holy energy burns demons, empowers the sword, and is perceptible to followers. Kai blocks the transfer, so she gives him controller-like access to her own level instead—borrowed authority that he later extracts and returns. (Chapters 130–132, 171–172, 301)

Continental restoration and barrier control

After Malgus's defeat, Gracia restores devastated terrain and settlements with a wave while selectively excluding concealed demon facilities. She also maintains a continental barrier and can authorize passage through it. Her control stops at another goddess's domain, requiring negotiation with Aquaphina. Gracia can observe battles and communicate rapidly across the divine network, but direct combat threatens the world, domain rules limit foreign action, and Leo can prevent her descent. Relationships

Kai LuForia: Gracia tries to make Kai a conventional Hero, but his lineage blocks her blessing. She grants voluntary access instead, quarrels with him over his use of her church, and still seeks his help after his dispute with Barry leads him to return her power and title. Leo: Leo is Gracia's progenitor and the power before whom her authority becomes negligible. She fears him, accepts his protection of Kai, and later follows his direction when recruiting Kai to help Rauna. (Chapters 131, 177–180, 345)
Celeste and Horith: Celeste is Gracia's saintess and mortal representative; Horith is her conventionally trained Hero.
