Celeste — The Hero of Hypnosis

Celeste is Gracia's saintess, the Church of Gracia's highest mortal authority beneath its Hero, and a partner of Kai LuForia. She supports Horith against Demon King Malgus, then transforms Kai's reluctant Hero title into public ceremony and religious practice. Their later family relationship is ethically compromised by his mass hypnosis of the church's women and the sexual doctrine he installs.

Biography

Saintess on the Demon King battlefield

Celeste arrives with Horith and the Church of Gracia after Malgus breaks into the mortal world. Rather than serve only as a ceremonial representative, she explains the Demon King's broad powers, assigns Kai and Horith to coordinate against him, and distributes church forces across the continent alongside soldiers, hunters, mercenaries, and adventurers. When Kai abruptly leaves to defend his household, Celeste is confused but suppresses that concern to continue supporting the people still under attack. Her first priority is therefore institutional duty under catastrophic pressure, not her later personal fascination with Kai. (Chapters 174–175)

That duty nearly kills her. Celeste places a holy-light shield between Horith and thousands of shadow tendrils, then tries to halt the corrupted arrows reflected from his Divine Rain. Her barrier cracks, contact with the demonic energy sends a near-fatal backlash through her body, and Malgus removes her from the fight with a casual blast. Kai returns to find her barely alive and heals her completely. Celeste does not accuse him of abandonment; she assumes he had a responsibility he considered more urgent. Constructing the public Hero

After Malgus falls, Celeste takes responsibility for making Kai legible to Gracia's followers. She plans his Qasyran celebration, gives his companions access to the church, guides them through a historical gallery, and explains that the institution has investigated Kai's past so his place among earlier Heroes can be recorded. Her personal admiration is already intense, but she understands that Kai dislikes public duty and cautiously seeks his cooperation. Onstage, she directs him to display the Hero's Sword and formally presents him to nobles and worshippers, turning a man who rejects vocation into the public face of Gracia's victory. Kai corrupts that ceremony by using hypnosis to announce that Gracia commands him to have sex with the adult women present and impregnate Celeste. Celeste values historical continuity, prayer, and public symbols, but her devotion also makes her vulnerable to Kai's false divine claims. The same organizational energy that coordinates continental defenders later scales a coerced doctrine into a large religious movement, making her both an effective leader and a principal vehicle for Kai's manipulation. Powers and abilities

Celeste is already an established saintess whenever she appears. The supplied chapters show no formal advancement through the Mana Tiers, Adventurer Ranks, or Divine Ladder and no persistent structural evolution of her holy power.
