Hero's Sword

The Hero’s Sword is the divine blade forged by Gracia and entrusted to the first Hero, Rolimont. The corpus also calls it the Hero Sword, First Hero’s Sword, First Hero’s blade, and Rolimont’s blade. Those names all refer to this Sarkyllan weapon, not to Aquaphina’s Hero Sword. (Chapters 51, 58, 210, 263)

History

Rolimont’s tomb and Kai’s claim

The sword becomes a public attraction at Highgrove, where visitors repeatedly try to draw the first Hero’s weapon. Beneath that spectacle lies Rolimont’s tomb and spirit. When Kai reaches him, Rolimont explains that the blade technically belongs to Gracia, who made it and entrusted it to him. Kai pulls it free, and Rolimont treats the sword’s acceptance as proof of worthiness, transferring his treasure and practical possession of the blade to Kai. Its dormant divine power, however, still requires Gracia’s awakening. (Chapters 51, 58)

Divine weapon in the demon war

Kai later draws the sword against Dante. Its radiance heals nearby allies, purges the vampire’s black mana, and becomes a vast beam of light that destroys Dante and the effects sustained by him. The output leaves Kai drained, demonstrating that accepting the wielder does not eliminate the cost of channeling divine force. Against ShadowEdge, the blade survives direct clashes with a demon weapon and participates in an impact powerful enough to devastate the battlefield. (Chapters 94, 177)

Rejection and return

After defeating Malgus, Kai discards the sword; it floats to Saintess Celeste, giving her temporary physical custody rather than ownership. Kai can still summon it back, proving their bond remains active. He ends that relationship during his dispute with Barry: Kai tears Gracia’s power from his soul, places the sword into the departing divine energy, and sends both back to their goddess. The latest confirmed custodian is therefore Gracia, not Kai or Celeste. (Chapters 179, 183, 301)

Abilities and properties

The sword chooses or accepts a wielder, carries Gracia’s divine power, and serves as a recognizable sign of her Hero. Its light can heal allies, dispel demonic or black mana, harm demons resistant to ordinary attacks, and release destructive beams. It can fly independently to a custodian and answer Kai’s summons while their bond persists. Its demonstrated strongest attack consumes substantial energy, and the blade’s authority remains derivative of Gracia: Kai can relinquish both her power and the sword rather than retaining an autonomous divine artifact. (Chapters 58, 94, 179, 183, 210, 301)
