Remi

Remi is Karl's fourth bonded beast, an elemental Shaman and obsessive Runic Alchemist who hatches as an Ascended-rank Spirit Snake and ultimately evolves into an Immortal Naga Matriarch. She combines army-scale weather, poisonous terrain, healing totems, summoned bodyguards, and experimental potions, making her one of the Darklight Host's most versatile combatants and its leading researcher in advancement alchemy.

Biography

Hatching into a battlefield family

Remi enters the group by accident after Hawk throws a Naga egg into Karl's new beast space intending to eat it. The dungeon recognizes the unhatched creature as a participant, names her in its rewards, and completes the bond before anyone understands what happened. She emerges as a tiny Ascended-rank Shaman Princess already afraid of the “evil bird,” but Thor feeds her, Rae contributes decorations, and even Hawk grudgingly adds shiny stones to her crown. That collective response turns a mistaken meal into a younger sister and establishes her driving need to be safe, impressive, and recognized as more than a small snake. (Chapters 250–251)

Her first campaign becomes both apprenticeship and accelerated childhood. Remi contributes [Chain Lightning], [Blizzard], minor water control, and [Healing Splash] while her body is still growing; she conceals tracks, blinds Frost Giants, interrupts attacks, and learns to moderate large spells so she does not exhaust herself. Fascinated by shamanic statues, she experiments with mud, stones, and battlefield trophies until she invents functional attacking totems, then reaches Commander rank and adds [Thunderstorm]. The progression is driven by curiosity rather than orders alone: she studies every magical object as a possible system whose pieces can be collected, arranged, and improved. (Chapters 252, 270, 286, 292–294, 331, and 352–353)

Choosing to become a Naga Queen

As Remi grows, she begins deciding what kind of being she wants to become rather than accepting the default Spirit Snake path. She spends extended time with Morgana, whose puppets and elemental affinity appeal to her, but remains selective about unfamiliar people and environments; in cold weather she often casts from the tropical safety of her space rather than waste mana warming a cold-blooded body. Her preferences are practical as well as personal, and she repeatedly retreats home when a situation becomes strange or physically unsuitable instead of treating visibility as more important than survival. (Chapters 262, 347, 350, 446, and 583)

At the Royal bottleneck, Remi learns that becoming a Naga Queen would preserve her compact Spirit Snake form while adding four arms, authority, and new powers. The possibility of a crown settles her choice. A beast-built temple and divine favor support the evolution, after which she emerges as a full Naga Queen with [Bodyguards] and a Queenly form created through [Bestial Raiment]. Her summoned Naga Warriors make her capable of holding a battle line independently, while the retained Spirit Snake form lets her perch on family members, travel inconspicuously, and satisfy the identity she chose rather than abandoning it for power. (Chapters 441–453, 456, 461, and 467–468)

Runic study and elemental escalation

Remi treats travel through ruined cities and national trials as research opportunities. She copies Dwarven forge runes even when she cannot yet read their full purpose, tests a spell rune on an icicle and notes the unexplained melting side effect, and hands Karl a mana-jade ring engraved for spell power and storage. Failure does not embarrass her into stopping; it becomes another entry in the next experiment, the habit that later develops into formal Runic Alchemy. (Chapters 585, 622, 684, 728, and 770)

Her combat power grows alongside that study. Extended fighting teaches her to time missing reinforcements, combine spells with allied casters, and use sustained [Chain Lightning] from inside her protected space. At Monarch rank, the elements in her swamp combine into [Apocalypse], a fiery blizzard filled with multiplying [Hellstorm] vortexes and falling stones. The spell gives her army-scale destruction, but also devastates the plants inside her own space during its birth, an early demonstration that maximum output can impose environmental costs even when it wins a battle. (Chapters 640, 647, and 657)

Alchemist of the Darklight Host

The founding of the Darklight Host turns Remi's private experimentation into a profession. She studies and teaches Alchemy, helps establish apprentices, keeps the guild shop stocked, and works in the Tiny World's laboratory even while the rest of the party travels. Remi cares about the institution because it gives her continuous access to materials, assistants, and unanswered problems; when staffing falls short, she proposes advertising for apprentices rather than accepting lower production. Her routines make the Host a sustainable workshop instead of a storefront dependent on whatever Karl happens to craft that day. (Chapters 819, 829, 854–855, 898, and 940)

An elemental treasure radically expands that work. Remi swallows the Heart of the Ocean whole, receiving [Thousand Year Flood], [Naga Swamp], an Epic constitution, and an evolution into an Overlord-rank Naga Shaman Queen. Her Spirit Snake form becomes a fifty-metre sea serpent able to swim through moist air, while the Naga form returns to juvenile proportions with altered cream, brown, and bronze scales. The advancement raises both power and potential, but it does not remove her inexperience: she misjudges where her transformed body will appear and falls when changing back, then continues learning through use. (Chapters 823–825)

Queen among the Naga

When the Darklight Host meets other Naga, Remi's title becomes a political fact rather than a private joke. Seers have predicted the arrival of a Queen like her, tribes recognize a lineage they desperately need, and Karl explains that her development comes partly from shared class skills but mostly from her own study. Remi, however, rejects the established Shaman Elders' assumption that they may distribute her eggs or direct Naga society. Her loyalty is to the Divine Mistress of the Swamps and Seas, whose favor she believes must be earned by tribes rather than manufactured through controlled breeding. (Chapters 1046 and 1067–1069)

Her Totem advancement occurs amid that confrontation and helps legitimize a traditionalist change of authority at the temple. While Remi sleeps and stabilizes, her goddess visibly answers through the statue kept in Remi's space, and the local Royals remove elders who have treated princesses as political stock. Remi's influence is therefore indirect but consequential: the life she built outside their hierarchy gives the Naga proof that divine favor and study can produce a true Queen without submission to the temple establishment. (Chapters 1069–1070)

Immortal research and wider responsibility

Remi's later alchemy shifts from personal growth to designing paths for others. She builds advancement potions for Dana and other bottlenecked allies, collects toxic spores for poison-enhancement research, supplies the Tiny World's alchemists, and develops catch-up treatments for late bloomers, including Karl's father. The work can be dangerously potent—Dana's body begins splitting during an overdose, forcing Remi and Tian to heal her—but Remi records the failure condition and continues refining dosage rather than pretending the risk did not exist. (Chapters 1017–1019, 1119, 1201, and 1216)

Her support role also expands in emergencies. Remi scatters healing and cleansing totems through collapsed Academy structures, sends displaced recruits back through Karl's linked spaces, and donates ingredients often enough that her own stores run low. She complains that her brothers offload healing labor onto their sisters, yet she keeps doing the work because reliable totems allow the team to split, rescue survivors, and keep fighting without a cleric at every position. (Chapters 1251, 1284, 1310–1324, and 1340)

Tribulation and the Naga Matriarch

Before Immortality, Remi demonstrates how far her Shaman identity has grown beyond the guild's image of her as an alchemist. She casts three Epic storms together to herd Mythic crabs into allied dragons, then describes the devastation as a valid renovation because the crops were already lost. In the aftermath she tests a mana-pathway potion, documents its healing and libido side effects with three hands at once, and discovers that correct dosage matters as much as theoretical effect. Combat and research are not separate careers for her; each creates specimens, data, and new questions for the other. (Chapter 1438)

Remi plans her Immortal tribulation as carefully as a laboratory setup, recreating a Naga swamp, arranging totems and barriers, and approaching the lightning with more curiosity than fear. The successful advancement evolves her from Naga Queen to Naga Matriarch, an innately Immortal species, but resets her physical growth so drastically that both Spirit Snake and Naga forms are tiny again. Rather than resent the loss of size, she immediately considers humanoid transformation and pill-making as ways to reach her cauldron, then seeks Immortal Alchemy instruction from Elder Socrate. (Chapters 1493, 1516–1518, and 1521–1525)

A clan laboratory makes alchemy her vocation

Among the New Home Merchant Clan, Remi finds the scholarly environment she has wanted since hatching. She spends long periods with Elder Socrate, explores libraries and alchemical manuals, creates new pill forms through Runic Alchemy, and is invited alongside Karl to design class options for others. Her experiments still require supervision—Karl explicitly forbids testing unknown pills on children or bunnies—but she accepts the boundary when reminded that her assistants are part of the operation rather than convenient volunteers. (Chapters 1668, 1713, 1737, and 1826)

She remains a combatant during the Clan's crises. Remi's totems attack enemies while healing Elders, [Apocalypse] clears structures when an invading guild shows no concern for the compound, and her three Naga bodyguards join the Host's summoned forces. Yet by the time Lotus and Ophelia arrive as Immortals, Remi spends more waking time with Socrate than Karl because advancing Immortal Alchemy has become her chosen responsibility. The shift does not weaken the bond; it shows that Karl's space and the Darklight Host have given her enough security to pursue an independent vocation. (Chapters 1688, 1698, 1714, 1724–1725, and 1826)

Immortal research sustains an independent sister

In the latest period, Remi works on problems relevant to immortal societies: fertility aids for slow-breeding species, methods to stabilize newly formed Immortal Spirits, and tonics that restore a crafter's focus without tasting like medicine. She still gathers reagents and books wherever she travels, even claiming a Supreme ice gem primarily to annoy Hawk by displaying it on her alchemy altar. Her research has become systematic enough to use dedicated instruments and lab staff, but her concentration remains so intense that she forgets the world outside until a dungeon or new specimen draws her attention. (Chapters 1847, 1864, 1872, 1917, and 1926)

Remi's place in the family is equally stable. When Skadi joins, Remi emerges from the laboratory for a four-armed welcome, immediately recognizes the new Forest Lord's plant-growing value, and offers to help redefine a title that does not fit her. She also volunteers for a reunion dungeon expedition to protect Dana and objects when the others imply that laboratory work has made her lazy. By Chapter 1927, she is an Immortal Naga Matriarch, senior alchemist, healer, storm caster, and affectionate sister whose independence expands rather than replaces her contribution to the pack. (Chapters 1914, 1917, and 1926)

Appearance and personality

Remi's body changes repeatedly with rank and evolution. She hatches as a palm-sized blue Spirit Snake with black swirling patterns, a pale-gold underside, crystalline scales, a cobra-like hood, and a wedge-shaped head. Her Royal evolution adds a four-armed Naga Queen form and retains the snake transformation; Monarch rank makes the Naga body larger and more muscular. Absorbing the Heart of the Ocean produces cream-white underscales, a brown back, bronze diamond markings, and a fifty-metre sea-serpent form, while Immortality evolves her into a Naga Matriarch and resets her to a hatchling under a metre long before later growth. (Chapters 250–251, 453, 640, 823–824, 1521, and 1713)

She is intensely curious, methodical about subjects that fascinate her, acquisitive toward plants and magical samples, and cheerfully cavalier about experiments. Decorations, crowns, shrines, statues, books, texture-rich food, and being visibly impressive all matter to her; taste matters less because her senses do not work like a human's. Remi can lose track of personal space or social alarm when recording data, yet she is not indifferent to people: she adopts apprentices, protects patients with healing totems, welcomes new siblings, and often frames her harshest teasing as part of family rivalry. (Chapters 251, 286, 301, 346, 496, 846, 855, 1438, and 1847)

Abilities and class

Remi is an Immortal Naga Matriarch with a Shaman lineage, elemental magic, Runic Alchemy, and several racial abilities gained through successive evolutions. Her strongest battlefield style layers weather, terrain, totems, and summoned warriors rather than relying on a single attack. The Beast Master bond lets Karl share some of her skills and lets pack abilities improve her toolkit, but her Heart of the Ocean inheritance, Queen abilities, and Matriarch evolution remain distinct from anything Karl teaches her. (Chapters 250–252, 453, 823–824, 1046, and 1521)

Beast Master bond and rank progression

Remi is born Ascended rank and bonded before hatching. Such a starting rank would have been dangerous if Karl were still a Common-rank Beast Master, but by her hatching his own growth makes the relationship manageable. The mental link provides silent communication, shared mana flow, access to Karl's safe internal spaces, and transferable techniques such as [Chain Lightning]. Her sequence is explicitly demonstrated: Shaman Princess and Spirit Snake at Ascended, Commander after rapid growth, Naga Queen at Royal, Monarch with [Apocalypse], Naga Shaman Queen at Overlord after the Heart of the Ocean, Totem after communing at the Naga temple, and Naga Matriarch at Immortality. (Chapters 250–252, 352, 370, 452–453, 640, 823–824, 1070, and 1521)

The bond permits power and skill feedback, but not unrestricted equivalence. Karl can cast Remi-derived spells, and his class can teach her compatible skills, while shared mental formations help balance the tremendous mana draw of her bombardments. Species-locked techniques remain narrower: [Bodyguards] is described as a Naga Queen racial ability, and Karl's copied version initially summons weaker Lamia rather than Remi's full Naga Warriors. Remi can also remain in her space and channel magic outward, protecting her body from cold or battlefield drain, but this depends on proximity through the bond and does not make her omnipresent. (Chapters 252, 262, 370, 467–468, 657, 914, and 985)

Lightning, ice, and weather magic

Remi hatches knowing [Chain Lightning] and [Blizzard]. [Chain Lightning] jumps among targets, causes involuntary movement, slows formations, and can be maintained as a damaging stream through metal armor. [Blizzard] obscures vision, covers tracks, creates snow, and can contest an enemy's identical spell even when Remi is lower rank. Its damage is poor against ice-aligned Frost Giants, so she often uses it for concealment and control rather than assuming elemental damage will work. Both spells consume enough mana at large scale that she reduces output or relies on [Refresh] and the pack's shared energy to avoid burning out. (Chapters 251, 268, 274, 277–278, 308–309, 358, and 657)

[Thunderstorm] arrives with Commander rank and creates a large storm field capable of sustained lightning over a battlefield. Remi can spread a deliberately low-ranked version so widely that it resembles natural weather, or combine her contribution with Karl's to cover a horizon-scale region. The spell is powerful area pressure rather than precise single-target damage, and barriers can delay its effect. Her cold-blooded biology is a separate limitation: in freezing environments she prefers to cast from her warm swamp space because bodily exposure would force her to spend mana merely staying alive. (Chapters 262, 352–353, 361, 422, 575, 653, and 950–951)

Totems, healing, and cleansing

Remi invents her first totems by studying divine statues and adapting Ophelia's Bear Totems to Shaman logic. Early limits allow only two at a time, but even then [Poison Flame Totems] launch repeated attacks while she casts other spells. Her later [Burning Poison] designs resemble intertwined Naga Princesses and apply poisonous fire, while healing variants provide continuous restoration to every valid target in range. The totems are placed objects with limited coverage, so positioning matters; enemies can avoid or destroy them, and they do not automatically match Lotus' stronger healing. (Chapters 286, 292–294, 309, 389, 396–399, 749, 895–897, and 1248)

[Healing Totem] pulses healing and can cleanse or purify with its first pulse, while [Healing Splash] closes cuts and can become more effective when directly delivered to a target. Together with Thor's [Eternal Lightning], the totems are sufficient to serve as a group's proper healer, and Remi later scatters them through rescue zones or carries their effect through Karl. They can still be overwhelmed by an overdosed advancement potion or mass casualties, which is why Remi pairs them with dedicated healers rather than claiming they make clerics unnecessary. (Chapters 251, 396–399, 412, 668, 722, 837, 985, 1018, 1170, and 1321)

Naga Queen forms and bodyguards

Royal evolution gives Remi two main bodies. The four-armed Naga Queen form is strong enough to carry adults, manipulate multiple tools, fight, and perform alchemy; [Bestial Raiment] creates her ornate Queenly armor. The Spirit Snake form is compact and inconspicuous at first, later becoming a flying fifty-metre sea serpent after the Heart of the Ocean and then resetting to hatchling size at the Naga Matriarch evolution. Flight in the ocean-heart form works by swimming through moisture in the air, making rain favorable, though the corpus does not define its maximum speed or behavior in completely dry air. (Chapters 453, 456, 574, 588, 823–825, 998, and 1521)

[Bodyguards] summons three Naga Warriors whose rank rises with Remi. They arrive armed, inherit her coloring, and can use combat abilities such as [Flaming Body], [Rend], and tsunami-like water attacks. Remi positions them as flank guards, trainers, or independent strike teams, giving her a durable melee screen while she maintains storms and totems. They are summons rather than permanent people in her custody; barriers or recall can dismiss them, and their effectiveness depends on current rank and shared-skill upgrades. (Chapters 453, 467–469, 473, 478, 531, 549, 570–571, 630, and 1725)

Naga Swamp, Thousand Year Flood, and Apocalypse

The Heart of the Ocean grants two explicit water inheritances. [Thousand Year Flood] creates one million litres of water per user rank over one minute, expands it in chosen directions, and allows the water either to remain or vanish when the spell ends. At Overlord rank the observed scale reaches millions of litres per minute, making it an environmental transformation rather than a simple projectile. Its indiscriminate volume can flood enormous areas, and the corpus does not establish that allies or structures are automatically protected from the resulting water. (Chapters 823 and 1034)

[Naga Swamp] creates a circular swamp whose radius grows by ten metres per rank around Remi. The air and water poison enemies while increasing allied skill damage and reducing allied mana costs; an immediate upgrade strengthens both sides of the effect. It is valuable for holding ground and trapping undead, but the shape cannot be altered, so using it around a village would damage the very area she is defending. Water-friendly enemies can also reduce its tactical value, as Remi recognizes when fighting crabs. (Chapters 823, 834, 896, 904, 910, and 1438)

[Apocalypse] appears at Monarch rank as a combined catastrophic weather effect: fiery blizzard, multiplying [Hellstorm] vortexes, and falling stones or meteors. Remi later explains that her most impressive battlefield display actually layers three Epic spells and is incomplete without all of them. It can panic and herd Mythic enemies or clear army-scale formations, but neither she nor Hawk can reliably prevent its fire vortexes from damaging buildings, and its birth burns much of her own swamp. It is therefore a siege and open-battle weapon, not a safe default around civilians. (Chapters 640, 889–890, 923, 1438, and 1698)

Runic Alchemy and experimental method

Remi learns Alchemy through constant analysis, Karl's shared identification abilities, and later formal study. Runic Alchemy combines recipes with runic logic, allowing her to develop healing, mana, advancement, cleansing, transformation, cosmetic, poison-enhancing, fertility, and bodily-restoration products. She can mass-produce ordinary stock through assistants and cauldrons, improve existing potions with higher-rank materials, and teach apprentices both process and discipline. Her latest practice extends to Immortal pills and crafter tonics under Elder Socrate's guidance. (Chapters 576–588, 633–634, 768, 819, 829, 854–855, 1010, 1525–1527, 1713, 1847, and 1926)

Her method is empirical and sometimes hazardous. [Identify] can reveal promising combinations, but it does not guarantee safe dosage, as shown when Dana's advancement tears her skin and when a mana-pathway treatment risks unconsciousness and sexual side effects. Remi takes notes, observes outcomes, and adjusts potency, while Karl increasingly imposes ethical limits on test subjects. The latest corpus supports exceptional innovation and an expanding team, not perfect predictive control: novel recipes still require trials, suitable ingredients, and healers ready for failure. (Chapters 578, 1017–1019, 1090, 1216, 1337, 1438, 1713, and 1847)

Relationships

  • Karl: Remi's bonded Beast Master, source of a safe inner world, and collaborator in skill sharing and runic work. He trusts her research while increasingly setting boundaries around unsafe tests. (Chapters 250–252, 467, 1019, and 1713)
  • Hawk: Her oldest elemental rival and reluctant first brother. They bicker over water, ice, and fire, but combine [Apocalypse] and [Hellstorm] into devastating battlefield control and take pride in one another's power. (Chapters 250–251, 281, 640, 824, and 889)
  • Rae: Sister, fellow collector, and frequent perch or research partner. Rae helps decorate Remi's first home, discusses alchemical blood products with her, and joins her in looting battlefields and dungeons. (Chapters 251, 430, 1585, and 1597)
  • Thor: Protective brother who feeds Remi when she hatches and helps her manage endurance and healing. His gentleness gives the once-frightened snake a dependable place to rest and a model for supporting the whole group. (Chapters 251, 446, 545, and 610)
  • Dana: Close human sister, test subject, and beneficiary of Remi's advancement research. Their trust survives a dangerously potent potion because Remi stays to heal, document, and correct the mistake. (Chapters 1017–1019 and 1475)
  • Lotus: Friend, craft partner, and enthusiastic recipient of Remi's experiments. Remi creates the potion that gives Lotus [Tree of Life], helps her see over crowds, and shares cooking projects with her. (Chapters 580, 588, 990, and 1059)
  • Cara: Fellow experimentalist and chaos-inclined sister. Cara supports Remi's advancement research and tribulation preparations, while Remi supplies the methodical records that turn their dangerous ideas into repeatable knowledge. (Chapters 640, 1402, 1516–1518)
  • Tessa: Cleric ally and frequent kitchen or battlefield partner. Tessa benefits from Remi's potions and mana support, while Remi respects her ability to organize healing and domestic work. (Chapters 610, 835, and 921)
  • Elder Socrate: Remi's Immortal Alchemy mentor and closest later research partner. Their shared focus on books, pills, and rare reagents gives her an independent scholarly home in the New Home Merchant Clan. (Chapters 1525–1527, 1665, 1713, and 1826)

Items

  • Bracers of Fated Encounters: Remi helps evaluate the Darklight Host's matching bracers and directs apprentices to use their bottleneck benefit. Their mana storage, skill-power, luck, and growth effects come from Karl's equipment rather than Remi's Shaman or Alchemy abilities. (Chapters 827, 835, and 842)
