Princess Rue
Princess Rue is the mixed-blood royal child whom Karl and Cara encounter during a mission into Gathuzan's past. A curse has prevented her from awakening a class and left her vulnerable to abuse within the palace, but Karl activates the Void Avatar class and trains her into a viable heir. Rue later becomes the Immortal Queen remembered as the Queen of Destruction, survives millennia of war and two failed attempts to build a lasting faction, and reunites with Karl as a Supreme-ranked Void Dragon. In the latest period she joins the Darklight Host and turns her accumulated power into Divine Runic Smithing rather than founding a third clan.
Biography
A cursed princess chooses versatile magic over simple revenge
Rue first meets Karl while fleeing royal Princes who have whipped her, mocked her mixed lineage, and threatened to test whether she can fly by throwing her from a cliff. She identifies herself as the King's bastard daughter, wears a simple dress, and asks Karl to forget seeing her because any visible help could provoke further punishment. Karl instead uses palace rules to make her his royal escort and learns that the nearly ten-year-old dragonkin has not awakened a class despite already being Ascended rank. Rue has been studying magic in the library, but her servant tutor has no authority to protect her, leaving resentment and death energy to build without a safe path for either. (Chapter 1344)
When Karl asks what she wants to learn, Rue admits that she wants vengeance, then clarifies that she loves versatile, useful, spectacular magic that can also punish bullies. Her answer matters because Karl warns that killing everyone who hurt her would still leave a long life with no purpose. He transfers [Void Blast] and [Limited Invulnerability], skills compatible with the Shadow royal line's Void affinity, and the System activates the Void Avatar class. The intervention bypasses a curse the Queen had placed to keep Rue powerless, transforming an apparent lack of talent into evidence that her weakness was deliberately imposed. (Chapters 1345–1347)
The new class gives Rue [Void Flight] immediately, solving the threat that her tormentors had used to frighten her. Karl frames the skill as “bullying resistance,” but his larger lesson is that power should make rules enforceable rather than license unbounded retaliation. Rue is still terrified of the Queen and initially hides behind him, yet the combination of flight, attack magic, and limited invulnerability means she can begin acting instead of only escaping. Her joy at flying and eagerness to study show that vengeance remains one motivation, not the whole of the identity the curse had suppressed. (Chapters 1346 and 1352)
Rue's first training period replaces helplessness with controlled judgment. She practices [Void Blast] against moving targets, learns mana control, and accepts [Pilfer], which activates the matching [Void Grab] already present in her class tree. In a simulated assassination attempt she detects a mana-suppressing object, removes it from a noble's possession through staged physical contact, and disposes of it without exposing the intended victim or herself. The exercise turns her experience of palace cruelty into protective awareness: she learns to frustrate a plot quietly and preserve evidence rather than answer every threat with open violence. (Chapters 1357, 1361–1362)
Rapid growth makes Rue powerful enough to be chosen
Rue's advancement begins with a combination of instruction and outside resources. Mana-attunement treatment, a growth potion, and a Royal-rank fruit push her through the Commander bottleneck, after which she returns to training rather than treating one breakthrough as vindication. Karl and Cara want her power to catch up with an unusually strong bloodline, while Rue wants the respect denied to a supposedly useless half-dragon. The new rank changes how her peers approach her almost immediately: young dragons who ignored her are directed to make friends, and the royal family begins treating her future as politically valuable. (Chapters 1358 and 1364–1366)
Karl then teaches Rue the first stage of a Power Matrix, a mental focal point through which she can refine mana and later align growth with Fundamental Rules. One night of meditation moves her to the Royal bottleneck, and Karl supplies above-rank mana while [Trollish Regeneration] helps her body replace its old energy safely enough to complete the change. The method is powerful but not effortless or universally transferable: Rue must maintain focus, adapt her cells to denser energy, and eventually choose a design suited to her own understanding rather than imitate Karl's constellation exactly. Her exceptional speed reflects both assistance and unusually high comprehension. (Chapters 1387–1388)
Lineage remains a political obstacle even after rank catches up, so Rue accepts [Greater Beast Form] and becomes a Shadow Dragon in appearance. She trains the new body, builds muscle, expands her Power Matrix from one point to three, and begins touching a Fundamental Rule far earlier than expected. A later advancement potion carries her through another bottleneck during the flight back to Nar. The regimen is intentionally extreme—above-rank mana, transformation practice, potion assistance, and near-continuous training—but it gives the physically small Princess enough presence to stand publicly with stronger dragon relatives. (Chapters 1400, 1402, 1404, and 1407)
Court recognition turns protection into a royal future
The political consequence arrives when Prince Lukas becomes King. He places Rue at his right wing, the Queen's position of honor, and nominates Karl as champion against challenges to either throne. When opponents question Karl's eligibility, Rue answers before Lukas can: a Royal Tutor is part of the royal staff, so any rival must provide a champion who can defeat him. That response combines the legal thinking of her first day with genuine confidence. By the time Karl leaves, ministers judge Rue intelligent, fast-growing, adaptable, and unlikely to undermine Lukas in public; the child once ordered back to her room has become his accepted choice for Queen. (Chapters 1408 and 1416)
Karl's farewell gift addresses the danger that rank and title cannot remove. He creates a dragon-shaped statue containing a [Bodyguards] effect, and Rue summons two Mythic Dwarven shield warriors from it. Because they can be resummoned and cannot betray her, they give protection against the palace's history of infiltration and assassination. The summoned guards are item-enabled support, not evidence that the Void Avatar class innately produces Dwarves. Rue accepts Karl's departure only after promising to seek him out when grown and secure, giving their later reunion the weight of a promise delayed by millennia rather than a chance introduction alone. (Chapter 1415)
The throne teaches Rue that power cannot guarantee belonging
Later history remembers Rue as an Immortal Queen who advanced four times in one month and purged much of the nobility after a rebellion. Rue's own account supplies the human cost behind the legend. She marries Lukas, survives repeated assassination attempts from branches unwilling to accept a half-dragon Queen, and rules beside him for roughly a century. When conspirators poison Lukas while she is away and attempt to use one of their children as a puppet, Rue takes the throne herself and kills even members of her own family whom she judges weak, greedy, or dangerous to the nation. Her belief that “power is for the powerful” grows from a state repeatedly endangered by succession plots, but it also hardens the once-kind child into the Iron Hearted ruler later generations fear. (Chapters 1436 and 1809)
Rue eventually passes Gathuzan to a driven descendant and leaves for the Immortal Realms with a fully formed Immortal Spirit. She expects that achievement to make her safe and instead arrives amid a planetwide clan war, where she is collared, forcibly inducted, and sent to the front. Continuous battle takes her to Ascended Immortal and draws the Red Dragon's attention, but she remains insignificant beside the Legends deciding the war. A stray attack nearly kills her and casts her through a spatial crack, freeing her only because the Demigod tied to the collar is destroyed. Immortality therefore repeats her childhood lesson on a larger scale: personal strength matters, yet institutions and higher powers can still reduce an unaffiliated prodigy to property. (Chapter 1809)
Progress after the war is slow because Rue's mortal-born potential does not automatically extend through every Immortal stage. She spends thousands of years seeking opportunities, reaches Peak Immortal, and finally claims a Void Dragon Legend's inheritance that raises her to Supremacy. By that later period she is a Void Dragon, but the corpus does not specify every racial skill or the exact transformation from her earlier Shadow Dragon form. A Divine Battle also leaves damage on her soul, a limitation other Supremes can sense even after her advancement. (Chapters 1809, 1817, and 1837)
Supremacy tempts Rue to rebuild the stability she remembers from Gathuzan. She creates the Gathuzan Clan in the Valalan League and takes in wayward Immortals, but a larger alliance eventually attacks for its territory. Rue kills seven of ten opposing Clan Leaders, earning the title Gathuzan's War Goddess, while her own people are wiped out and her equipment is destroyed. The victory preserves her life without preserving what she built. Afterward she wanders in an infiltration robe, hiding her rank because an unknown Supreme entering another faction's territory can itself be treated as a declaration of war. (Chapters 1806, 1809–1810, and 1817)
A ruined Supreme accepts Karl's guild instead of another crown
Rue encounters Karl again while trying to replace lost equipment at the Darklight Host shop. At first she suspects that the young Void Immortal is a descendant or a disguised version of the Tengu who tutored her, but Cara's unchanged face and Karl's account of temporal travel confirm the truth. The reunion lets Rue ask why they intervened only long enough to awaken her and then vanished. Karl answers that their task was to give her a fair start, not dictate an entire life. Rue recognizes the explanation as Time Dragon logic and accepts it, while her history makes clear that the freedom she received included consequences no tutor could remove in advance. (Chapters 1806–1808)
Karl invites her to stop wandering and join a group whose clan and guild ties coexist rather than demand solitary rule. Rue admits that she has failed twice as a leader because she lacks the luck and alliance-building skills to make a faction endure, but still wants somewhere to belong. She accepts Karl's Guild contract and explicitly rejects trying to take his branch from him. The former Queen's decision is a development rather than surrender: she brings Supreme power and leadership experience, yet chooses membership under a much younger branch leader because the Darklight Host's network solves the isolation that raw rank never did. (Chapters 1809–1810 and 1817)
Rue initially intends to remain hidden so enemies of her former clan do not follow her into the region. She allows Karl to describe her as recovering from soul damage, assures Clan Leader Nerissa and the Blackwood Pack Leader that she will not establish another clan, and plans to let her work carry the Darklight Host's name instead of signing public items herself. The arrangement gives the regional alliance a third Supreme without forcing an immediate political confrontation. It also gives Rue a form of security she has not previously sustained: multiple allied groups know who she is and accept her presence without demanding a throne, collar, or territory. (Chapters 1813, 1816–1817, and 1925)
Divine smithing turns Rue's war experience into shared strength
Rue joins the Darklight Host without a formal trade skill. In youth she trained at inscription and manually gained the mage skills [Skill Book] and [Talisman], but millennia of survival warfare left no opportunity to develop a craft profession. She chooses weapons because a rare Supreme weapon can let a Peak Immortal defend an entire territory, then supplies the ordinary [Blacksmithing] book needed for Karl to build a more suitable hybrid. The choice converts knowledge accumulated through countless weapon styles and battles into a way to protect allies before war begins. (Chapters 1810–1811 and 1816)
Karl creates [Divine Runic Smithing] by combining Blacksmithing, Runecrafting, and Tian's [Sacred Light], then transfers it to both Rue and Tian. The Peerless-grade skill creates holy weapons that align with a user's faith and gain bonuses associated with the relevant god or pantheon. Karl separately gives Rue [Earth Manipulation], which her versatile mage class can accept despite lacking a natural Earth bloodline. Rue immediately forms a Void-aligned weapon, demonstrating that the craft can express her species' minor deity as readily as Tian's Fox God. These are taught skills, not innate properties of being a Void Dragon. (Chapters 1811–1812)
The craft has a clear quality boundary. Rue can create items up to Epic grade through magic alone, but making Peerless work from her own power requires a proper forge, physical processing, and practiced runes. With Tian she designs a rapier whose successful strikes stack agility and attack speed, then adapts the same concept into a massive Red Dragon-aligned axe for Ophelia. She draws on millennia of battlefield familiarity to match weapon form, fighting style, faith, and effect instead of treating the highest numerical damage as universally best. (Chapters 1813–1816)
Public craft makes the Darklight Host Rue's new shield
Rue's later output expands from custom weapons to guild infrastructure. She creates caster gear for shop stock, copies a Villa Stone with a Supreme barrier, prepares tailored weapons for the Immortal core team, advises on flat spell-cost reduction that still obeys the one-mana minimum, and helps upgrade the Trial Tower using thousands of years of superior battle tactics. She does not know every required spell—Epic shopkeeper golems still require Karl's instruction—and some results rely on Karl's [Breath of the World] to raise their grade. The division distinguishes Rue's Supreme-level design and inscription from upgrades or construct mechanics supplied by other crafters. (Chapters 1820, 1840, 1844, 1849, 1852, 1858–1859, and 1869)
By the latest chapters, Rue is ready to stop hiding entirely. She plans to announce herself through a limited auction of Supreme work, using scarcity to build the Darklight Host's reputation without destabilizing the market through uncontrolled production. She also collaborates with Opal on instanced guest rooms whose runes assign each entrant a persistent private copy inside one physical space. The once-isolated Princess now uses Void, runes, and institutional memory to create secure shared space for a guild. Her latest mastery is therefore not a newly demonstrated combat rank, but control over when Supreme power becomes public and how its products strengthen a network she does not have to rule alone. (Chapters 1924–1927)
Appearance and personality
As a child, Rue is a small dragonkin girl with long black hair, smaller than average even for her age, and initially dressed so simply that a formal bow looks out of place. The dress becomes filthy during her encounter with Cara, after which Karl and Cara supply ornate black and formal clothing that better matches royal expectations; palace tailors later expand a wardrobe that had contained only a few appropriate dresses. Rue bears scars on her back from the Princes' whipping and is trained in posture and grace, making appearance both a reminder of abuse and a political tool she consciously learns to use. (Chapters 1344, 1346–1347, 1361, 1383, 1389, 1403, and 1415)
Her early transformed bodies are likewise small. [Warbeast] produces a childish Void Dragon under three metres long with smooth onyx armor plates and an involuntary black-mist breath weapon, while [Greater Beast Form] gives her a true-looking Shadow Dragon body that she must strengthen through exercise. The modern Rue is an adult Void Dragon and can present as a slender robed woman; she uses a black infiltration robe to conceal her aura, status, and equipment. The corpus does not give a complete color-and-measurement description of her Supreme dragon form, so the difference between childhood temporary forms and her later evolved species should not be filled with inference. (Chapters 1385, 1400, 1402, 1806, and 1810)
Rue is curious, studious, adaptable, and deeply marked by betrayal. As a child she wants revenge but also useful magic, friends, pretty clothing, and the respect attached to being a Princess. She trusts Karl and Cara quickly, learns social scenarios with notable improvisation, and remains too kind in Lukas's estimation to recognize every threat unaided. Millennia of coups, enslavement, war, assassination, and clan destruction make her more ruthless and skeptical; she openly regrets that Lukas did not eradicate every rebellious branch and believes weak, greedy rulers must be denied power. (Chapters 1344–1346, 1356, 1362, 1402, and 1809)
That hardness does not erase humor, affection, or self-awareness. Rue laughs easily with her old mentors, appreciates fluffy creatures and romance stories, remains devoted to Lukas's memory, and admits that she is not good at building alliances. She is cautious about revealing Supreme items because she has already seen wealth and territory provoke annihilation, but still crafts generous gifts for Karl's family. Her mature restraint is thus not simple fear: it is the strategic judgment of someone learning to seek belonging without recreating the conditions that destroyed her previous homes. (Chapters 1807–1817, 1859, and 1924–1926)
Abilities and class
Rue is a Supreme-ranked Void Dragon whose original System class is Void Avatar. She activates the class at low Ascended rank, advances rapidly through the mortal ranks, later reaches Immortality and Ascended Immortal, then spends thousands of years reaching Peak Immortal before a Void Dragon Legend's inheritance carries her into Supremacy. Her current species, class, and learned trade skill overlap around Void magic but have separate origins: the Void Avatar comes from Karl's intervention, the Void Dragon inheritance comes millennia later, and Divine Runic Smithing is taught after their reunion. (Chapters 1345–1346, 1364–1366, 1388, 1407, 1809, and 1812)
Void Avatar origin and defensive mobility
[Void Flight] appears as an initial Void Avatar class skill and allows wingless flight. It gives Rue immediate escape and aerial mobility before she can transform into a dragon, directly countering threats to throw her from heights. The later text identifies [Void Lock] as one of Supreme Rue's favorite skills; Karl's Lesser Watchers use the same name for an effect that freezes hostile creatures in place, but Rue's exact range, duration, and resistance checks are not demonstrated. Her favoring the skill supports restraint and battlefield control, not a claim that it can immobilize any target regardless of rank. (Chapters 1344–1346 and 1807)
[Limited Invulnerability] and [Void Blast] are transferred before the class activates. [Void Blast] becomes her basic ranged attack and is trained against randomly moving targets; its Void element is valuable because resistance depends on affinity rather than visual spectacle alone. [Limited Invulnerability] is confirmed as part of the offered foundation, but the corpus does not show Rue activating it or define its duration, cooldown, or eligible damage. Neither skill should be upgraded to modern Supreme effectiveness merely because Rue later reaches Supremacy without a scene demonstrating that progression. (Chapters 1345 and 1357)
Void Grab, transformation, and summoned protection
[Void Grab] activates when Karl offers [Pilfer] and the System finds a matching skill in Rue's own tree. It can pull an unattended object across a room into her hand and can relocate an item from another person's possession directly into her inventory, but the latter use requires physical contact with the carrier. It does not automatically swap a decoy into the missing item's place, and tracing magic can still reveal what was removed. Rue's training therefore emphasizes misdirection, disposal, and social cover alongside the spell itself. (Chapter 1362)
[Greater Beast Form] gives child Rue the appearance and body of a Shadow Dragon, allowing her to fly in royal formations and satisfy a lineage-biased court's definition of legitimacy. It is a taught transformation, not the same event as her eventual evolution into a Void Dragon. [Warbeast], when Karl casts it on her earlier, produces a smooth onyx Void Dragon-like combat body with black mist breath, but the story does not say that Rue learns [Warbeast] herself. These forms demonstrate compatible draconic potential while leaving the mechanics of her later species change unstated. (Chapters 1385, 1400, 1402, and 1809)
Rue's two Dwarven [Bodyguards] originate from Karl's Mythic statue. They carry shields and axes, can be resummoned after destruction, and cannot betray the owner, making them reliable protection against assassins. Their unusual species appears to reflect Rue's affinity or preferences when she activates the effect, but no source explains the selection rule. Because the statue enables the spell, the bodyguards are item-derived rather than an innate Void Avatar racial feature. (Chapter 1415)
Power Matrix training and rank progression
Rue's Power Matrix begins with a single mental focal point. Mana refined through it accelerates growth, and the design can later expand or realign around her understanding of Fundamental Rules. Forced above-rank mana, regeneration, physical training, and potions help her cross bottlenecks, but the method still requires concentration and bodily adaptation. Karl explicitly warns that later designs cannot be copied perfectly from another practitioner, while Rue's own rapid movement from one to three points suggests exceptional comprehension rather than a guaranteed result of the regimen. (Chapters 1387–1388 and 1402)
The early progression takes Rue from low Ascended toward Commander, then to Commander through potion-supported growth, Royal through focused mana replacement, and at least one further advancement during the return to Nar. Later legend remembers four advancements within one month, and Karl subsequently treats Overlord as the rank from which she continued toward Mythic after he left. The exact dates of those later transitions are not shown. Rue's retrospective account is explicit only at the higher stages: Immortal before Lukas, Ascended Immortal during the clan war, Peak Immortal after long wandering, and Supreme after receiving the Void Dragon inheritance. (Chapters 1357, 1364–1366, 1388, 1407, 1433, 1436, and 1809)
Inscription, Divine Runic Smithing, and item design
Before receiving a trade class, Rue manually studies inscription and learns [Skill Book] and [Talisman] as mage skills. The corpus does not show her mass-producing books or talismans in the latest period, but this foundation explains why she understands runic design when Karl transfers a formal craft. Divine Runic Smithing then combines weapon production and runes, creating holy items whose effects align to a user's faith. Religious compatibility is part of the mechanic: Rue's first blade carries Void Dragon divinity, Tian's Fox God blade has restrictions tied to that pantheon, and Ophelia's axe is designed around the Red Dragon's love of battle. (Chapters 1810–1812 and 1814)
[Earth Manipulation] supplies raw forms and lets Rue create a basic holy blade immediately, but it cannot replace every ingredient or every stage of masterwork production. Pure magic reaches Epic grade; Peerless work needs a forge and real processing, while Supreme materials still have to be gathered from dungeons and trade. At the other end, Rue can copy an existing spatial item and reinforce its barrier, or inscribe flat rather than percentage-based mana-cost reductions. Her strength lies in choosing mechanics that fit a user, not in creating unrestricted resources or ignoring minimum costs. (Chapters 1812–1814, 1820, 1858, 1868–1869, and 1924)
Rue's latest design work includes Supreme wards, weapons for an Immortal core team, trial upgrades, and instanced spatial rooms. Some products depend on collaborators: Karl upgrades item grade with [Breath of the World], Opal supplies domain and spatial architecture, and Karl would need to teach Rue missing golem spells before she could create Supreme shopkeepers. By Chapter 1927, Rue is a mature Supreme Runic Smith with extensive tactical design judgment, but the corpus still presents collaborative craft as the source of the Darklight Host's most unusual products. (Chapters 1840, 1844, 1849, 1852, 1869, and 1927)

Relationships
- Karl: Rue's Royal Tutor, first magical mentor, and later Guild leader. He breaks the path around her curse, teaches her to couple power with judgment, and gives her enough protection to choose her own future. Millennia later, she trusts his network enough to stop wandering and serve under a far younger leader. (Chapters 1344–1416 and 1806–1817)
- Cara: Rue's first true friend, sparring partner, stylist, and relentless source of growth potions and social chaos. Cara distracts Rue from destructive rage, helps her build confidence, and remains so unchanged that her appearance confirms Karl's identity at their reunion. (Chapters 1344–1407 and 1806–1812)
- Prince Lukas: Rue's elder half-brother, eventual husband, and co-ruler. He protects her political rise, makes her his Queen, and values her loyalty to both him and Mildred. His assassination drives Rue to seize the throne and shapes the ruthless succession philosophy she retains millennia later. (Chapters 1371–1416 and 1809)
- Bishop Misty: The Time Dragon who sends Karl and Cara to intervene before Rue's resentment produces a disastrous path. Rue later recognizes the explanation for their brief involvement as typical Time Dragon logic, even though Misty's manipulation denies her a conventional lifelong mentor. (Chapters 1344–1416 and 1808)
- Barry: A Blue Dragon librarian who recognizes Rue's activated potential, studies Karl's methods, and helps teach Power Matrix fundamentals. His scholarly support gives Rue an informed local teacher capable of continuing some of the work after Karl leaves. (Chapters 1345–1347, 1361, and 1387–1388)
- Tian: Rue's co-smith and fluffy younger colleague. She persuades him to accept Blacksmithing, learns Divine Runic Smithing beside him, and combines her war experience with his Earth and Holy affinities to produce weapons for the Guild. (Chapters 1811–1817)
- Dana: Karl's wife and the recipient of one of Rue's first signature modern weapons. Rue draws on thousands of years of sword experience to interpret Tian's vague request and creates a tailored blade whose quality earns Dana's reverence. (Chapters 1816 and 1820)
- Ophelia: Rue creates a Red Dragon-aligned battleaxe that lets Ophelia stack agility as she deals damage. The gift applies Rue's belief in strength constructively, giving a trusted defender greater power instead of using her craft to build another private army. (Chapters 1814–1816 and 1820)
- Opal: A fellow creator whose spatial domains complement Rue's Void and runic knowledge. Their latest joint design instances many persistent guest rooms inside one physical space, merging Opal's architecture with Rue's inscription logic. (Chapters 1808 and 1927)
- Rae: Karl's fashion-focused spider partner and a fellow survivor who treats beauty, equipment, and intimidation as connected crafts. Rue accepts Rae's offer of replacement clothing and later contributes weapons to the same Guild production network. (Chapters 1808 and 1817)
Items
Rue has no standalone notable item in the generated item catalog. Her childhood Bodyguard statue, infiltration robe, replacement rings, and the weapons she creates are important to her history and craft, but none is assigned to her as a scoped persistent item article.
