Prince Lukas

Prince Lukas is Gathuzan's Mythic Crown Prince and later King. Initially wary of Karl's secret training for Princess Rue, whom contemporary scenes call his younger sister, he becomes her protector, husband, and co-ruler. Rue's much later account instead calls them cousins, leaving the exact royal kinship terminology internally inconsistent while confirming their marriage and shared reign.

Biography

A wary Crown Prince turns Rue's tutoring into a royal alliance

Lukas meets Karl soon after reaching Mythic rank and accepts a growth potion intended mainly to stabilize the aura of a fresh advancement. His attention immediately shifts to Rue, whose neglected potential Karl has begun exposing. As elder brother and heir, Lukas understands that rapid advancement will make her a marriage prospect and political target. He appreciates help for young dragons, including the potion that advances his first child's unhatched egg, but remains suspicious of an outsider teaching secret abilities inside the royal household. That suspicion does not become obstruction. Lukas joins Rue's exercises, uses a simple unlocking spell when training traps the group, and challenges Karl about his hidden purpose without demanding Rue's private goal be exposed. He later clears an unusual amount of paperwork so he can spend the afternoon showing his little sister troop inspection and royal welfare work, revealing that his protection is personal as well as institutional. When an explosion tears through the palace, his first concern is whether his consort Mildred and Rue survived, and he helps direct the rescue once Karl confirms their barriers and healing support. Kingship and marriage survive rebellion but not succession poison

Lukas becomes King when his father ascends to the Immortal Realm. He places Rue at his right wing, silently designating her as Queen, and appoints Karl as champion for both royal positions. When a younger Prince challenges his eligibility, Lukas invokes divine law: kings are judged through their choice of champion because leadership, not raw dueling strength, is being tested. The challenger temporarily doubles his power with an item and still fails against Karl, allowing Lukas to begin his reign without turning the succession into a direct royal bloodbath. Rue's later history reports that she and Lukas marry soon afterward and endure repeated assassination attempts from hostile branches of the family. He proves a good husband and King, and they rule together for about a century while their descendants become Gathuzan's principal royal line. Conspirators eventually poison Lukas while Rue is away, hoping to control one of their children as a puppet. His death drives Rue to seize the throne and purge the family factions he had left alive, making his preference for lawful reconciliation both a strength of his reign and, in her later judgment, a fatal vulnerability. Appearance and personality

Lukas is a Shadow Dragon whose humanoid presentation includes black, orb-like eyes that narrow visibly when he is suspicious. The corpus does not provide a reliable account of his height, hair, clothing, scale pattern, or full dragon form. His formal positioning and titles communicate royal status more clearly than a detailed physical portrait. (Chapters 1351, 1366, and 1408)

He is intelligent, skeptical, protective, and administratively capable despite finding routine paperwork boring. Lukas enjoys puzzles and dry jokes, trusts his assistant Nyx, and can distinguish secrecy from betrayal: he probes Karl's plans but respects that Rue's deepest goal is hers to disclose. As King he favors law, continuity, and measured reconciliation; later events suggest that this restraint could not eliminate a court culture built around assassination and succession plots. Abilities and class

Lukas is a Shadow Dragon who has only recently reached Mythic rank when introduced. Karl's growth potion helps stabilize his aura but is explicitly too weak to provide major Mythic growth, so the advancement is Lukas's own rather than caused by the gift. The corpus does not name his precise System class or show a higher-rank transition before his death. (Chapter 1351)

He can cast at least a simple unlocking spell and participates in Karl's physical and magical training environment. His understanding of dragon development, mana, class skills, and Fundamental Rules is educated but not presented as specialist mastery. The palace barriers that protect Mildred and Rue during the bombing were cast by Karl, not Lukas, and the younger Prince's temporary power doubling during the succession came from an item rather than from Lukas's abilities. Lukas's strongest demonstrated application is royal rather than destructive: he understands Gathuzan's divine challenge law and selects Karl as a champion capable of defending both crown and Queen.
