Titania Herseim
Titania Herseim is a high elf of Elvenheim, the third dancer and shaman of the Dry Pine Tribe, and the only apprentice of Myrdal Herseim. Initially stiff and distrustful toward Theodore Miller, she claims responsibility for the Great Forest's wartime command, becomes a decisive long-range ally through her contract with Geros, and later follows Myrdal's final instructions into the Prometheus crisis.
Biography
Jerem's Return and the Great Forest
Titania meets Theodore when Elvenheim learns that Jerem and Nídhöggur are approaching the world tree. She identifies herself as Myrdal's disciple and Geros's successor, says she has been waiting for Theodore, and immediately prioritizes his urgent warning over the message she was meant to deliver. Her blunt informality provokes Veronica, whose accusation that Titania hid during the earlier Laevateinn crisis strikes a genuine wound: Titania had failed to participate in that defense and reacts sharply to being called a coward. The scene establishes both her social awkwardness and the pressure behind her determination to take an active role now. (Chapters 316–317)
When the high elves decide to summon Hraesvelgr, the month-long ritual requires four mature dancers and leaves the less experienced Titania and Ellenoa responsible for building the defense with Theodore. Alucard doubts Titania's experience in war and command, but she interrupts him, swears on Yggdrasil's root, and insists that the defense be left to her. She then makes that authority practical: she identifies the southern front as the best place to begin, explains the habits of ents, dryads, beasts, and creatures, carries Myrdal's Deeper Theories about Elementals to Theodore, and accepts his corrections about how to address him. Her growing respect is deliberate rather than automatic obedience. (Chapters 317–320)
During the preparations, Titania turns Theodore's unfamiliar human strategy into formations the elf tribes can actually use. She redraws the archer deployment, improves it using her long hunting experience, and coordinates tribes that already train together. In battle, she commands more than a hundred wind elementalists to raise the tornadoes that Theodore transmutes and Veronica ignites, then controls the elven archers through Ratatoskr. Mitra, not Titania, commands the ents and reshapes the southern terrain; Ellenoa, not Titania, summons Nohengrin and directs the ent bombardment. Titania's own contribution is tactical command, wind coordination, long-range observation, and choosing when to commit Geros's limited power. (Chapters 320 and 322–325)
Titania uses Hurricane Bow to break Jerem's defense and wound him from kilometers away, then resists wasting its few remaining shots when Nídhöggur restores ordinary undead. She covers Veronica after Theodore is displaced, attacks openings created in Jerem's casting, and continues fighting even after the strengthened warlock can stop her storms. Hraesvelgr's arrival is likewise not Titania's personal summoning: the other four high elves sustain the sacred creature through the world tree and Great Forest while Titania remains on the southern battlefield. After victory, her hostility with Veronica has become trust earned by fighting back-to-back, and their relaxed drinking together shows the alliance surviving beyond immediate necessity. (Chapters 324–330 and 335)
Prometheus and the Eastern Apocalypse
Five years later, Titania has continued training despite the brevity of that interval to a thousand-year high elf. She commits to the southern expedition because Myrdal instructed her to “put the south's distress to rest,” making her purpose independent of Theodore's investigation and Randolph Clovis's appetite for danger. Before departure, she delivers Ellenoa's flowers to Theodore, reports that the world tree's reconstruction and the settlement of transplanted spirits are proceeding, and asks for a serious account of swamp creatures. Her role joins a personal search for Myrdal with responsibility for the damaged natural world. (Chapters 337 and 339–340)
Inside the swamp, Titania endures Dragon Fear that frightens her lesser elementals and nevertheless continues once warned of the strain. Her archery repeatedly complements the party rather than duplicating its strengths: three arrows fired on exactly the same path penetrate a cyclops's eye; a perfectly timed shot deflects a mutant ogre's fist from Randolph; and another arrow opens the creature's mouth for a killing sequence. Against the six-headed hydra, she calls Geros and drives Hurricane Bow into one head after Theodore creates an opening. The party's victory depends on Theodore's protections and fire, Randolph's melee pressure, and Titania's precision, not on any one member acting alone. (Chapters 340–342)
At Sloth's Cage of Chronos, Geros unexpectedly reveals that he is a fragment of Zephyrus left according to Prometheus's will and opens the prepared passage. Titania tries to maintain the summoning, but Geros disappears after delivering the “key” and no longer answers, as though asleep; she did not order or knowingly activate that arrangement. When the Dragon Lord prefers that she remain outside, Titania respectfully refuses because Myrdal may be within and meeting him is why she came. The reunion lasts only minutes: Myrdal acknowledges her as his only apprentice, refuses the heart he says he understands, tells her to be happy, and sends the group out to finish Prometheus's plan. (Chapters 345–347)
Titania then faces one of Sloth's soulless transcendent shells with Theodore, Randolph, and Aquilo. She saves the airborne Randolph by knocking the enemy's staff off line with arrows, draws the reflected projectiles away through evasive movement, and remains outside the later Time Stop, unable to intervene through its boundary. Theodore eventually defeats the shell and crosses into transcendence; Titania survives, but the emotional cost of meeting Myrdal after more than a century and losing the chance for a proper conversation keeps Theodore from immediately sending her onward to the East. Her later arrival there is her own return to danger after Theodore has left her behind. (Chapters 348–354)
Titania and Randolph eventually follow Theodore to the Eastern front, arriving at the final muster after being left behind and accepting his apology. Against the newly born heavenly demon, she obeys the prepared formation and combines her wind with Daitengu's, piercing both of the enemy's shins and creating the instability exploited by the allied swordsmen. This is a supporting battlefield role rather than command of the Eastern coalition: Seimei designed the campaign, Theodore directed the final defense, and Titania contributed the ranged wind attack that made the next strike possible. (Chapters 370, 372, and 374)
Marriage, Armageddon, and the New World
After the Eastern campaign, Titania returns to Meltor through Theodore's intercontinental gate with the surviving coalition. She and Randolph are explicitly tired from the battle and withdraw to rest when the group disperses, while Theodore, Veronica, Orta, and Aquilo move on to different immediate duties. The scene closes her period of continuous expeditions without assigning her the political settlement, treatment of the wounded, or later preparations made by Theodore; her established condition is survival accompanied by accumulated fatigue. (Chapter 380)
Titania does not immediately return to Elvenheim. By the time Theodore's private wedding is held, she has remained in Meltor and is present among the very small circle of family, companions, tower colleagues, and trusted friends admitted to the palace. Waiting for the ceremony is her only stated decision in this interval. The source does not give her a role in arranging the marriage, choosing its terms, or advising the brides, so her presence should be read as personal loyalty and continued friendship rather than another exercise of high-elf authority. (Chapters 380 and 383)
At the ceremony, Titania stands with Vince, Randolph, and former members of Quattro as Theodore, Veronica, and Sylvia enter and make their vows. She is a witness rather than an officiant or participant, and no later chapter in the supplied corpus gives her a separate action during Armageddon or the creation of the new world. Her latest source-grounded status is therefore modest but clear: alive, still connected to Elvenheim, and sufficiently close to Theodore's household to remain abroad for a deliberately private wedding after two world-scale campaigns. (Chapter 383)
Appearance and personality
Titania is a high elf who appears around 160 centimeters tall, with rare black hair, golden eyes, and white clothing made from bear fur. She regularly carries a large bow at her waist, and Theodore reads her balanced stance and center of gravity as evidence of a trained combatant before he knows her identity. Five years produce no visible aging because a span that long is only a small fraction of a high elf's life, though her stronger presence shows that she continued training. (Chapters 316, 322, and 339)
Her initial manner is dry, direct, and easily mistaken for arrogance. Titania uses informal speech, shows little facial emotion, and questions Theodore without preamble, but later privately asks whether her tone offended him. She explains that she respects him as Elvenheim's benefactor and attributes the problem to her lack of social interaction; Theodore becomes the first person outside the high elves and Myrdal whom she permits to address her by name. Her awkwardness is therefore established as limited social experience, not concealed contempt. (Chapters 316–318)
Titania is proud enough to react fiercely to an accusation of cowardice, yet she treats responsibility as something to prove through work. She backs her demand for command with an oath on the world tree, studies strategy, incorporates the strengths of different tribes, and accepts a dangerous expedition because it answers Myrdal's charge. In combat, her hunter's patience checks impulse: she refuses to spend Hurricane Bow on restored rank-and-file undead and reserves scarce shots for leaders and openings where they can change the battle. (Chapters 317, 322, and 324–327)
Her reserve gradually accommodates dry humor and loyalty. She teases Theodore after being made a messenger for Ellenoa, dismisses Randolph as a savage while willingly entering the same danger, and befriends Veronica after their initial hostility. At the Great Forest festival, Titania sees through Veronica's attempt to sound unconcerned about Ellenoa and calls the lie “cute.” Her later refusal to remain outside Sloth's passage shows an equally personal side: the chance to see Myrdal matters enough that she politely rejects the Dragon Lord's safer preference. (Chapters 335, 339, and 346–347)
Magic, abilities, and martial skills
Titania cannot learn magic in the human sense. Like other elves, she says she cannot artificially interfere with nature's flow; Myrdal instead taught her the wisdom of nature and the reality of elementals. Her power combines the innate qualities and authority of a high elf with a hunter's practiced archery and a transferred contract with the ancient wind elemental Geros. The distinction matters: her elemental cooperation is not spellcasting, and Geros's hidden Prometheus function operates without her knowledge or command. (Chapters 316–317, 323–324, and 345–346)
High-elf nature and elemental senses
As one of Elvenheim's dancers, Titania can use Ratatoskr inside the Great Forest for immediate long-range communication and can sense natural or unnatural conditions through elementals. She reads the death energy approaching from the southwest, detects whether Veronica's fire leaks through a ward, and perceives distant events through Geros's eyes. Her high mana resistance is not universally beneficial: it makes recovery from long-range spatial movement harder, while Dragon Fear in the southern swamp causes her lesser elementals to want to flee even though Geros remains comparatively stable. (Chapters 317–318, 324–325, and 340)
Titania can fly with Geros's support and move quickly enough to fight mobile master-level creatures while maintaining long range. Her high-elf lifespan leaves her outwardly unchanged over five years, and her affinity with nature gives her standing among elves, elementals, and ancient green dragons. The corpus does not show her commanding the world tree, ents, or an elemental ruler: Mitra holds authority over vegetation, Ellenoa summons Nohengrin, and four other high elves sustain Hraesvelgr. Titania's own authority is exercised through the formations and wind elementalists placed under her. (Chapters 318–320, 323–325, 328, 339–344)
Geros and Hurricane Bow
Geros is the remaining fragment of Zephyrus once contracted to Myrdal, who transfers that contract to Titania. When fully projected, Geros appears as a horn-crowned giant of wind with an armored-looking body and a greatbow. His state is described as close to complete, unlike the still-growing Mitra, but Titania cannot draw out the same power Myrdal could. Hurricane Bow produces a storm arrow with roughly 8th-circle offensive force, sufficient to breach weakened 9th-circle defense and damage Jerem from many kilometers away. (Chapters 317, 324, and 326)
The technique's decisive limitation is endurance. After the first demonstrated shot against Jerem, only three uses remain; after further combat, Theodore counts two. Titania must therefore judge whether a target merits a shot, and the attack can still be stopped by an opponent with superior defense or absorbed by the strengthened Jerem. Geros also carries an independent function left by Prometheus: when the Cage of Chronos appears, he opens its keyhole and then becomes unresponsive despite Titania's attempt to sustain or resummon him. Her later Eastern wind attack is demonstrated, but the source does not state that Geros has awakened again. (Chapters 324–327 and 345–346)
Archery and battlefield support
Titania's ordinary archery is powerful enough to pierce steel walls and precise enough to send multiple arrows through an identical trajectory. She uses that accuracy to overcome a cyclops's burning ray, to deflect a mutant ogre's fist at the instant it threatens Randolph, and to strike the ogre's mouth so the swordsman can exploit its movement. Against a transcendent space magician, she changes targets immediately to save Randolph and evades when her own projectiles are reversed. The reflected arrows also demonstrate a firm limitation: extraordinary physical shots remain vulnerable to spatial redirection. (Chapters 341–342 and 348–350)
Her most effective attacks are cooperative. Titania times Hurricane Bow behind breaches made by Theodore and pressures Jerem while Veronica holds the nearer engagement. In the East, she combines her wind with Daitengu's to wound the heavenly demon's legs, enabling the swordsmen's follow-up. These examples establish her as a long-range interrupter and opening-maker rather than a solitary destroyer; when Time Stop isolates Theodore, her distance and projectile strength cannot cross the temporal boundary. (Chapters 324–327, 349–350, and 374)
Hunting, strategy, and leadership
Centuries of hunting give Titania expert knowledge of terrain, tribal strengths, target movement, and the patience needed to preserve limited force. After only days of instruction, she revises Theodore's archer deployment into a configuration he cannot improve, because she understands the cooperating tribes better than he does. On the southern front she commands wind elementalists and archers through Ratatoskr, observes through Geros, and feeds distant battlefield information back to Theodore. Her limitation is formal military experience: before the undead invasion she has never led a war, which is why Alucard initially doubts her and Theodore provides the strategic framework she adapts. (Chapters 317, 322–325)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Geros contract inherited | 317–318 | Holds Myrdal's transferred contract with the ancient wind elemental, gaining flight, remote sight, and high-output wind archery. |
| Geros becomes unresponsive | 345–346 | Geros opens Prometheus's keyhole into the Cage of Chronos and then stops answering, temporarily removing her defining elemental partner. |
Relationships
- Myrdal Herseim: Myrdal rescues Titania in childhood, teaches her the principles of nature and elementals, passes Geros's contract to her, and leaves her to wait for Theodore. She regards him as her teacher for more than a century of absence and enters Sloth's passage specifically to see him. At their final meeting, he calls her his only apprentice, acknowledges the heart he cannot accept, asks her to be happy, and ends his long Prometheus mission. (Chapters 316–319, 325, and 345–347)
- Geros: Geros is Titania's contracted ancient wind elemental and the source of her flight and Hurricane Bow. She has trained with his nearly complete projection for years, but lacks Myrdal's capacity and can fire only a few maximum-force arrows. Geros independently fulfills Prometheus's hidden command at the Cage of Chronos and then stops answering Titania, revealing that their contract contained a purpose she had never been told. (Chapters 316–317, 324–327, and 345–346)
- Theodore Miller: Titania first approaches Theodore as the ancient-elemental contractor Myrdal selected, but her bluntness creates mutual tension. She later clarifies her respect, calls him by name, delivers Myrdal's book, adapts his military teaching, and entrusts herself to his leadership in the Great Forest, southern swamp, and East. Theodore in turn relies on her forest knowledge and ranged judgment while respecting her need to remain after the brief reunion with Myrdal. (Chapters 316–327, 337–354, and 370–383)
- Veronica: Their relationship begins with mutual provocation over Veronica's threat to the forest and Titania's absence from the Laevateinn battle. During Jerem's invasion, Titania's distant storms repeatedly cover Veronica's close engagement. Trusting each other's backs turns hostility into friendship, visible in their shared drinks and Titania's willingness to challenge Veronica's emotional pretense without malice. (Chapters 316–318, 324–327, and 335)
- Ellenoa and Mitra: Titania works beside them in the Great Forest defense but does not receive credit for their powers. Mitra commands the ents and reshapes the terrain; Ellenoa summons Nohengrin and later mediates Mitra's faith as Saintess. Titania leads archers and wind elementalists, reports on the world tree's recovery, and occasionally carries personal messages from Ellenoa to Theodore. (Chapters 319–325, 334, and 339)
- Randolph Clovis: Titania mocks Randolph's enthusiasm for danger but develops an effective partnership with him. Her arrows protect his openings, redirect attacks that would hit him, and expose targets for his twin swords. They survive both the swamp and Sloth's transcendent defender, recover together, disobey Theodore's exclusion by reaching the Eastern battle, and later attend his wedding as fellow trusted companions. (Chapters 337–354, 370–380, and 383)
- Daitengu: Titania meets the great youkai as part of the coalition against the heavenly demon. She objects to his “pointy-eared” label but immediately coordinates wind with him, and their joined attack pierces both of the enemy's shins. The source establishes effective battlefield cooperation, not a relationship beyond that single campaign. (Chapter 374)
Items
The supplied chapters do not assign Titania a separately cataloged named item. She consistently carries a large bow, but the corpus gives it no individual name or independent mechanics. Hurricane Bow is presented as an attack performed through her contract with Geros and his manifested greatbow, not as a linked artifact, while the protective artifacts and potions used on the southern expedition are prepared and distributed by Theodore rather than retained as Titania's signature equipment. (Chapters 322, 324, 339–342)
