Geros
Geros is an ancient wind elemental and surviving piece of Zephyrus, god of the western wind. Formerly contracted to Myrdal Herseim, he passes to Titania Herseim and manifests through her elemental contract; his projected form is neither Myrdal's remnant nor an independent incarnation of Prometheus.
Biography
Jerem's Return and the Great Forest
Titania projects Geros in a nearly complete form during Elvenheim's war against Jerem. Looking through his eyes from kilometers away, she fires the Hurricane Bow through a weakened ninth-circle defense and wounds Jerem. Geros's power is limited by his contractor: Titania cannot sustain as many shots as Myrdal could, so the elemental serves as a decisive but finite long-range weapon rather than an autonomous combatant commanding the battle. (Chapters 324–325)
Prometheus and the Eastern Apocalypse
Geros later appears behind Titania in the southern swamp and drives a Hurricane Bow shot into the hydra. At the Cage of Chronos, he then manifests without Titania's command and identifies himself as a piece of Zephyrus left in the world according to Prometheus's will. Once hidden conditions are satisfied, he transmits Prometheus's message and opens the only passage into the time-stopped Cage. His form fades immediately afterward, and Titania cannot summon a response; she describes him as if asleep. Theodore attributes the concealed instruction to Myrdal, Geros's previous contractor, but the corpus does not establish whether Geros later wakes or whether opening the Cage permanently consumed part of him. (Chapters 342 and 345–346)
Appearance and personality
Geros manifests as a gigantic, translucent or wind-formed humanoid with crown-shaped horns, an unclothed body as rugged as armor, and a greatbow matching his scale. He normally acts through Titania's control. When the Promethean instruction activates, he speaks in a grand, impersonal voice and delivers the prepared message without explaining it. (Chapters 324, 342, and 345–346)
Magic, abilities, and martial skills
Geros is a nearly mature ancient elemental who supports Titania's flight, perception, and long-range attacks. His signature Hurricane Bow condenses wind into a storm arrow capable of breaching weakened ninth-circle defenses and striking enormous mythical creatures. Its number of uses depends on the contractor's capacity. Geros also carries a dormant Promethean function that produces the “key” opening a crack through Sloth's otherwise impenetrable Cage of Chronos. (Chapters 324–325, 342, and 345–346)
Relationships
- Titania Herseim: Titania inherits Geros's contract from Myrdal and learns to project his mature form. She controls his normal battle manifestations but knows nothing about the hidden Cage instruction. (Chapters 324–325 and 342–346)
- Myrdal Herseim: Myrdal is Geros's former contractor and transfers the contract to Titania while leaving a concealed function that activates at Sloth's Cage. (Chapters 324 and 345–346)
- Jerem: Geros's Hurricane Bow breaches Jerem's damaged defense and wounds him during the Great Forest battle. (Chapter 324)
Items
The Hurricane Bow is the named wind attack and greatbow-form Geros manifests, not a separately cataloged portable item. The Cage of Chronos is the mechanism he opens and is not his possession. (Chapters 324, 342, and 345–346)
