Outworldly Sword

The Outworldly Sword is the last of the five sacred items Gustav needs for his restoration. The blade recognizes him as its only rightful wielder, but its theft through a dimensional crack turns retrieval into a late-story search whose decisive handoff is not narrated in the retained corpus.

History

Found, recognized, and stolen

Endric, Ria, and the Time Candidate Wilendor locate the colossal sword on a distant world after a long search. Spiritual guardians prevent others from reaching it, and Wilendor learns that the blade resists anyone who is not its owner. When Gustav arrives, he feels it call to him as a lost part of himself, confirming rightful recognition rather than mere desire to possess it. (Chapter 1587)

Before Gustav can close his hand around the sword, a dark dimensional crack opens and pulls it away. He never achieves shown physical custody in this scene. Memories taken from a Death Angel reveal that a human-looking figure caused the theft, later identified as the corrupted former officer Calden Reist acting with Nocturnis-derived dimensional power. The recovery gap

Dimension Six identifies the Sword as one of exactly five sacred items created by the Outworldly before he became mortal. Its blade is described as forged from the fabric of the universe, with an edge able to ripple through reality. Because the item is required to merge the five artifacts and restore Gustav's full Outworldly power, Endric, Ria, and Sersi continue tracing possible locations and a karmic-temporal path. (Chapters 1595, 1606–1613)

Their search reaches cosmic beings who concealed the true location behind copied worlds. By chapter 1622 the group has forced out the sword's location, but the text still describes the next step as getting there. Chapter 1643 then shows all five sacred items connected in Gustav's ritual. No retained intervening section narrates the Sword being physically recovered, transferred to Gustav, or brought to the platform. That acquisition is therefore an explicit continuity gap, not an event that can be reconstructed from implication. (Chapters 1622–1623, 1643)

Abilities and properties

• Recognizes Gustav as its rightful former master and resists removal or wielding by others. (Chapter 1587)
• Is forged from the fabric of the universe; Dimension Six describes its edge as capable of sending effects through reality itself. (Chapter 1595)
• Serves as one of five mandatory components in the ordered ritual that restores the Outworldly's power. (Chapters 1595, 1643)
• Can be displaced through a dimensional crack without being conventionally wielded, as Calden's interference demonstrates. (Chapters 1587–1593)
• Has no fully demonstrated combat swing in the retained corpus, so its practical costs, limits, and exact striking scale remain unconfirmed.

Chapter 1363 contains an isolated conflicting line that implies seven sacred items, but chapters 1527 and 1595 explicitly establish five. The later direct list—including this Sword—is used here.
