Red Shadow

Red Shadow is a masked covert operative who assists the MBO with investigations, transport, and high-risk arrests. His work connects the T67 investigation to the later conspiracy surrounding the infected of Luchan City.

Biography

Covert work around the T67 case

Red Shadow first intervenes by rescuing Gustav Oslov from a serpentine mixedbreed that vastly outclasses him. He later works from Miss Aimee's base, interrogating Sahil and helping investigate the network behind the T67 device. Although he is an experienced and formidable field agent, his inability to penetrate Sahil's altered mind keeps the investigation dependent on other evidence. He also secretly observes Gustav taking a bloodline, creating a wary relationship once Gustav realizes that he has been watched. (Chapters 314, 573, 576, and 584)

The infected conspiracy in Luchan City

When Red Shadow's reports about unusually coordinated infected people are dismissed, he asks Gustav for help and follows the clue toward Gradier Xanatus. Their investigation uncovers resurrected corpses and agents able to suppress their presence. Red Shadow defeats one hidden operative with portal and shadow restraints, but a second enemy commands the infected as a mass and overwhelms him. His Thousand Rending Red Shadow Seal damages the giant infected's eye without stopping it, and he is later recovered half-dead after an officer sacrifices herself to reach him. His latest confirmed state is therefore alive, but severely injured by the failed containment. (Chapters 969–970, 990–1009, and 1019)

Appearance and personality

Red Shadow conceals his identity behind a mask and is associated with a red jacket, dark trousers, and boots. He is secretive and professionally suspicious, yet less ruthless than Aimee and Gustav. His willingness to press an ignored investigation shows persistence, while his decision to hold the infected despite being outmatched shows a strong protective commitment. Bloodlines and abilities

Red Shadow creates red, flower- or star-shaped portals for movement and mass evacuation. Large portals can transport many people, but consume enormous energy. He can emerge through red smoke, phase through shadows, form shadow restraints, and spread sealing constructs such as the Thousand Rending Red Shadow Seal. These abilities make him effective against concealed targets and crowds, but the Luchan City battle shows that his restraints can be broken by sufficiently powerful opponents. Relationships

• Gustav Oslov: Red Shadow rescues Gustav early, later watches him covertly, and eventually recruits his help when official channels dismiss the infected case.
• Miss Aimee: He serves as Aimee's covert associate in the Sahil and T67 investigation.
• Gradier Xanatus: Red Shadow follows Gustav's link to Xanatus and works with him against the infected conspiracy.
