Masuba is a proud B-grade trainee whose instant defeat by Gustav abruptly changes hostility into an attempted friendship.
Biography
The wager and one-second defeat
Masuba loudly challenges Gustav Oslov, unwilling to accept that an apparent F-grade could surpass stronger-ranked trainees. He offers a wager to secure the duel and tries to conjure an attack while keeping Gustav at range, but Gustav closes the distance and knocks him out in one second, fracturing his ribs and sternum before medical treatment stabilizes him. (Chapters 32–33)
Attachment built on power
After losing, Masuba immediately tries to befriend Gustav, who rejects a bond formed only after victory. Masuba later pays Gustav to attend his duel with Yuhiko, defends Gustav's legitimate win against spectators, and then suffers his own humiliating defeat. Even while recovering, he secretly hopes Gustav will punish Yuhiko, showing admiration mixed with dependence and resentment. (Chapters 34–49)
Appearance and personality
