Grand Commander Shion is one of the MBO's five Grand Commanders, a veteran protector of Earth, and a senior strategist whose responsibilities grow from supervising cadets to organizing a universal response against the dark plane.

Biography

The Caskia Ruins and a new generation

Shion supervises the last phase of the MBO entrance trials while the Caskia Ruins begin producing dangers the research team failed to predict. Other officials defend noninterference as part of the test, but Shion must balance that principle against responsibility for the candidates' lives. He authorizes Gradier Xanatus to enter under cover, ordering him to observe unless the threat exceeds what the participants can handle. When Xanatus confirms that an emergent entity could have caused a massacre, Shion holds the negligent research team and resistant commanders accountable instead of treating the survivors' success as proof that the test was safe. He then visits the cadets personally, acknowledges that Gustav, Angy, E.E, Falco, and their companions prevented a disaster, and grants them special-class privileges and access to MBO equipment. Appearance and personality

Shion is more than a century old but initially looks around sixty. He has white or silver hair and beard, slanted eyes with a sharp gaze, and a green rhombus-shaped diamond shard embedded in the center of his forehead. His crystalline silver military uniform bears royal-blue stars on the left chest. He generally projects calm solemnity and needs little overt force to silence officers or delegates. That restraint coexists with a deep voice and intimidating anger when subordinates endanger lives through negligence.
