The date wager

Aurora enters the stage amid spectators predicting that she will hospitalize Gustav Oslov unless he accepts a date proposal. She treats the apparent F-grade as an easy opponent and forms a water barrier, but Gustav reads the opening and wins, upsetting the assumptions of trainees who rank worth almost entirely by bloodline grade. A result that attracts challengers

Aurora's loss does not end the social pressure around Gustav; instead, it encourages Masuba to demand another wagered duel and becomes part of the growing story that Gustav's physical power exceeds his visible grade. Later references preserve Aurora as the first comparison point in that chain of challenges rather than a continuing personal enemy. (Chapters 33–101)
