Zylarith Chaosveil is the last Progenitor of the destroyed Supreme World of Chaos, a former Infinity who survives as a soul and treats successors, worlds, and cosmic wars as components of his return to power.

Biography

Breaking the cycle of the Chaos Progenitors

The Supreme World of Chaos possesses authority over an energy that grows under peace, war, or balance, but its Progenitors historically pay for that advantage with bodies unable to contain it. Each Chaos Infinity dies within roughly a billion years, leaving an inexperienced successor and preventing the world from permanently overwhelming its peers. Before inheriting that position, Zylarith solves the physical limit by creating the Body of Chaos, a physique capable of channeling otherwise ruinous quantities of Universal and Chaos Energy. As an Eternal he defeats multiple Supreme Born Eternals together, convincing the preceding Chaos Infinity to surrender his life so Zylarith can be selected as Progenitor without interruption. (Chapter 2105)

Zylarith survives beyond the old limit and turns Chaosveil into the strongest Supreme World. His body connects him to Chaos throughout the Universe, supplying reserves that appear effectively inexhaustible, and he becomes capable of defeating older Infinities one-on-one and sometimes two at once. He pursues the Law of Absolute Growth, derived from Chaos's property of increasing without a fixed ceiling. The prior Infinity of Eternity sacrifices herself to inspect the future and concludes that this path ends in absolute destruction, prompting the other Supreme Worlds to unite against him before his preparations are complete. In the resulting war, Zylarith faces Light, Darkness, and Balance together and is attacked by the new Eternity after that cultivator breaks through. His trump card, Chaos Origin: The First Contradiction, kills the weakened former Eternity and injures the others, but the combined assault destroys Chaosveil and his physical body. Zylarith's later claim that he was merely a weak victim of fearful peers omits how close he came to overturning the entire universal order. He survives in an unstable soul form, powerful in knowledge and potential but detectable by a Universe that will devour him whenever he exposes too much power. A System, a son, and a rejected inheritance

Zylarith uses part of Chaosveil's remaining energy to create the System and binds it to a soul he calls his son. Its activation is delayed across repeated reincarnations until that soul returns to its original world. The System rewards rapid cultivation and eventually reveals the Law of Absolute Growth, arranging a path Zylarith believes can produce the numbers and strength needed to defeat the four Supreme Worlds. He frames this as a gift that guarantees Nux success, but the intended success is inseparable from Zylarith's revenge and from obedience to a route chosen before Nux understands it. (Chapters 1543–1552)

Their first direct conflict exposes the difference in their goals. Zylarith wants Nux to exploit the System by mating with more powerful women and building an army; Nux refuses to treat his wives or strangers as resources for another man's war. Zylarith claims ownership over everything the System enabled, threatens to take it away, and briefly severs its function. Nux responds by devouring the System into himself, cutting Zylarith's connection rather than surrendering the power. Zylarith attempts to attack in anger, contradicting his claim that Nux is indispensable to a carefully controlled plan. (Chapters 1552–1557)

When confronted by Azriel, Aeliana, and Amaya, Zylarith presents himself as the sole guide capable of leading Nux and Yrniel to universal dominance. Amaya points to his attack and unstable emotions as reasons not to trust him, while Azriel recognizes that he is using Yrniel's danger to pressure Nux. Zylarith is expelled and his System connection remains broken. The title “soul father” thus describes a soul-level arrangement and Zylarith's self-conception, not a relationship Nux accepts as loving or legitimate. (Chapters 1558–1563)

Worlds and heirs shaped as instruments

Long before meeting Nux directly, Zylarith cultivates experiments throughout the Universe. He approaches Umbrasol in soul form, wins its Progenitors' trust through knowledge far beyond theirs, and helps them design the Necrocore to accumulate Death Energy. He encourages their hope of raising a High-Level World to Supreme rank, but when the Supreme Worlds intervene, he erases the inhabitants' memory and leaves the failed structure behind. The experiment advances his understanding while Umbrasol bears the destruction and lingering consequences. (Chapters 1751–1753)

His relationship with Sharnoth follows the same pattern on a personal scale. Zylarith finds her after her family and world fall, offers escape and revenge, and gives her a Chaos Crystal that rebuilds her foundation. He teaches her Chaos, helps her form the Law of Absolute Chaos, and guides her into ruling a faction of displaced survivors. To Sharnoth he is savior, teacher, and the source of a second life at the moment she has no one else. (Chapters 2048–2055)

The later revelation reinterprets that care. The crystal contains the foundation of Zylarith's Body of Chaos, making Sharnoth a potential heir while deliberately leaving her understanding incomplete. Zylarith can seize her body through his superior comprehension, and he intends to let her complete the physique before taking permanent control, leaving her conscious but unable to act. His training in emotional restraint is partly designed to keep the vessel and its growing political power useful. Nux discovers the plan from her memories, removes her into his universe when the Body completes, and thereby denies Zylarith the replacement body he has cultivated. (Chapters 2059–2061 and 2114–2117)

These projects show Zylarith's consistent loyalty: he values growth, resilience, and talent, but chiefly insofar as they advance his design. He can provide genuine knowledge and rescue, and his students may become far stronger because of him, yet the hidden endpoint preserves his control. Later revelations make his paternal language toward Nux and Sharnoth less evidence of affection than a method of claiming ownership over carefully developed successors. Engineering an alliance against the Anomaly

As Nux attacks the Supreme factions, Zylarith contacts the four Infinities and reveals that the Anomaly is his “son.” He warns that Nux is more dangerous than another Zylarith and explains the devouring pattern behind his growth. This information ends the Infinities' fragmented response and helps them build a coordinated trap. Zylarith also withholds or distorts key facts—notably Azriel's relationship to Nux—until challenged, preserving leverage while directing enemies toward a target he cannot control himself. (Chapters 2323–2336)

The alliance is tactical rather than loyal. Zylarith needs the Infinities to remove Nux and they need his knowledge of the Anomaly; each side expects betrayal after success. When Nux instead locates Zylarith in a reality removed from the Main Universe's memory, Zylarith initially treats the encounter as an opportunity. Outside the Main Universe's scrutiny he can use his Law again, while Nux hopes that a disembodied Infinity is the safest opponent from whom to learn the road to Infinity and advance the Law of Anomaly. Zylarith dominates the early battle. He makes distance infinite, corrupts the order within space, time, light, darkness, meaning, and attacks, and divides his soul into contradictory fragments Nux cannot consistently reach. Nux, however, selected Chaos precisely because it is the closest structured analogue to contradiction. By observing Zylarith, he learns the pattern beneath Chaos and uses it to deepen Anomaly, making impossible actions occur outside the structure Zylarith can ruin. Nux erases more than half of Zylarith's soul before Zylarith activates the First Contradiction. (Chapters 2348–2354)

The trump card turns all truths simultaneously contradictory and nearly kills Nux while damaging his universe. Nux adapts again, takes control of the impossible state, and traps Zylarith inside his own technique. Before Nux can finish devouring him, Bloodedge's contact with Chaos creates an opening through which the other four Infinities enter. Zylarith joins them, and the five eventually erase Nux after a prolonged battle, but Nux returns transformed. Zylarith immediately offers another deal; Nux instead overpowers his Chaos, removes his ability to die, and pierces his soul in a self-feeding cycle of pain. By Chapter 2401, Zylarith remains imprisoned with the other Infinities, alive, powerless, and unable to obtain release through death. (Chapters 2354–2365 and 2400–2401)

Appearance and personality

For most of the corpus, Zylarith has no stable physical body. He appears as a translucent white humanoid whose race, age, and facial features cannot be discerned. Once freed from the Main Universe's scrutiny, his soul assumes a taller form of dark shifting smoke and broken purple light, with violet eyes and edges that alternate between humanlike and stretched shadow. During the First Contradiction, his damaged form is also described with white hair breaking into strands of light and smoky robes. (Chapters 1751, 2346, and 2354)

Zylarith is immensely knowledgeable, patient on a cosmic scale, and skilled at making his intervention feel indispensable. He identifies emotional pressure points quickly, offers real improvements, and withholds the ultimate cost until a beneficiary has become dependent on him. His arrogance is supported by historical achievement, but it also makes him underestimate forms of power that do not fit his universal framework. (Chapters 1558–1562, 1751, 2051–2055, and 2353–2355)

His self-control is imperfect. He attributes his attempt to kill Nux to instability in soul form, yet similar outbursts appear whenever a supposed asset refuses ownership. Under final defeat, his posture of paternal superiority gives way to fear and begging. The contrast does not make his earlier intelligence false; it shows that his schemes are anchored in a profound need to control growth, successors, and the conditions of his own survival. Abilities and cultivation

Body of Chaos

Zylarith creates the Body of Chaos before becoming an Infinity to solve the fatal weakness of his predecessors. The physique can tolerate quantities of Universal and Chaos Energy that destroyed earlier Progenitors and connects its user to Chaos throughout the Universe. This supplies near-continuous energy and allows his presence and authority to permeate a battlefield rather than remain confined to a finite reserve or Domain. (Chapters 2105 and 2114)

The body makes Eternal-stage Zylarith capable of fighting multiple Supreme Born Eternals and allows his later Infinity self to survive past the billion-year limit. It is a designed physique, not merely the default body of a Chaos Progenitor. The version grown in Sharnoth is transferable through a Chaos Crystal and can eventually become pure Chaos, but Zylarith intends to control it through his superior comprehension. Nux separating Sharnoth from external Chaos and taking her into his universe counters that plan. (Chapters 2105, 2114–2117)

Zylarith loses his original Body when Chaosveil falls. His soul retains the Law and understanding that made the physique effective, but no longer has its physical durability. In Nux's dimension he compensates by making his position untouchable and scattering into soul fragments. Direct soul erasure remains a serious weakness, and Nux deliberately targets him first because the missing body makes him less durable than a fully embodied Infinity. (Chapters 2346–2353)

Infinity authority over Chaos

As an Infinity, Zylarith does not require an Eternal's bounded Domain. His understanding lets Chaos claim anything with order, structure, sequence, direction, purpose, form, meaning, memory, rule, or a name, then ruin that structure. He applies this to distance by making the space between himself and Nux infinite; to light and darkness by reversing concealment and revelation; to attacks by making them forget their targets; and to time, injuries, and causality by creating incompatible outcomes. Chaos is ubiquitous and grows regardless of whether the wider Universe is peaceful, at war, or balanced. This makes Zylarith's authority unusually broad and his reserves enormous. Activation is demonstrated through intent, gestures, and released Chaos Energy rather than a fixed incantation, and its effects can cover an entire dimension. The exact natural duration and energy cost are not quantified because his original body and universal connection make exhaustion an atypical constraint. (Chapters 2105 and 2347–2353)

Despite its breadth, Chaos has a structure of its own. Nux learns that Zylarith corrupts existing patterns rather than acting outside all rules; Anomaly counters him by producing methods that never possessed a pattern for Chaos to reverse. Dense external Chaos can also be severed from a user, as Nux does to Sharnoth, while Nux's superior post-resurrection understanding lets him take control of Zylarith's Chaos directly. Zylarith's authority is therefore strongest against ordered Laws and realities, not categorically irresistible. (Chapters 2114, 2353–2355, and 2400)

Chaos Origin: The First Contradiction

The First Contradiction is Zylarith's ultimate battlefield-control technique. He invokes “Chaos Origin” and “The First Contradiction,” driving Chaos into laws, concepts, meanings, ideas, and truth itself. Life and death, creation and destruction, position and absence, injury and health all become simultaneously valid contradictions. Every Primordial Energy except Chaos becomes unreliable, and targets experience the pain and consequences of multiple incompatible states at once. Its earlier use injures the other Infinities and kills the weakened prior Eternity; against Nux it begins corrupting both Nux's body and universe. (Chapters 2353–2354)

The technique is hazardous even to Zylarith. The resulting environment is unlivable for Infinities, so he must keep a dense cage of Chaos around his damaged soul and cannot safely divert much of it to other attacks. It is used as a last resort after half his soul is erased, rather than as an ordinary opening move. Nux's Law of Anomaly eventually adapts to the contradictions, takes control of the state, and makes ending the technique impossible for Zylarith, converting his strongest move into his prison. Soul-form survival and concealment

After the destruction of Chaosveil, Zylarith persists without a body for billions of years. In soul form ordinary physical attacks pass through him, he can project himself through artifacts, manipulate memories, and hide in a forgotten reality removed from the Main Universe's awareness. This state gives extraordinary concealment and longevity but is unstable: openly releasing power alerts the Universe, which recognizes him as a soul that should no longer exist and attempts to devour him. (Chapters 1555–1558, 1751–1753, 2045, and 2346)

Outside the Main Universe's scrutiny, Zylarith can again use his full Law, but his soul is vulnerable to techniques that can touch or erase nonphysical existence. Nux first burns individual fragments, later grabs Zylarith directly, and finally prevents his death while torturing the soul. His survival is thus persistent rather than true invulnerability. (Chapters 2346–2355 and 2400–2401)

System and successor engineering

Zylarith creates Nux's System from part of Chaosveil's energy and uses it to grant bloodline growth, abilities, and a prearranged route toward the Law of Absolute Growth. The System remains connected to him until Nux devours it. Its rewards are real, but Zylarith's ability to interrupt the connection and his claim that he can withdraw the gift reveal an intended control mechanism. Once absorbed, Nux retains or recreates some abilities while Zylarith can no longer issue new rewards. (Chapters 1543–1557 and 1634)

He also engineers bodies, Laws, and political development in others. With Sharnoth he changes affinity and foundation through the Chaos Crystal, teaches the conceptual truth needed for an Absolute Chaos Law, and can temporarily seize her movements. These techniques require preparation, compatible Chaos foundations, and a large comprehension advantage; they are demonstrated on a selected heir, not as instantaneous universal control over any body. (Chapters 2048–2061 and 2114–2117)

Knowledge, artifacts, and long-term manipulation

Zylarith's accumulated knowledge lets him outclass world-scale researchers, identify rare craftsmen, design energy-storage projects, and infer hidden facts from minimal reactions. He commonly acts through projections and artifacts while hiding his soul. These are learned and engineered capabilities, and the corpus does not catalogue every artifact he possesses. His predictions can fail when faced with Anomaly, the Seer, or people who reject the motives he assumes they share. (Chapters 1558, 1751–1753, 2045, and 2346–2347)

Relationships

• Nux: Zylarith calls Nux his son and constructs the System around his soul, but expects obedience and ownership in return. Nux rejects his army plan, absorbs the System, learns from Chaos, and ultimately imprisons him. Their bond is inheritance without accepted parenthood. (Chapters 1543–1562, 2346–2355, and 2400–2401)
• Sharnoth: Zylarith saves, trains, and strengthens Sharnoth after her world's fall, giving her genuine hope and a route to revenge. He also designs her Body of Chaos as a vessel he can eventually control. That concealed purpose turns mentorship into grooming for dispossession. (Chapters 2048–2061 and 2114–2117)
• Azriel: Zylarith initially tries to use Azriel's concern for Yrniel to pressure Nux and exaggerates or distorts comparisons between their strength. Azriel sees through the maneuver and expels him. Zylarith later withholds Azriel's family connection while negotiating with the Infinities. (Chapters 1558–1563, 2226, and 2325–2327)
• Amaya: Amaya is among the first to expose contradictions in Zylarith's presentation, especially his claim that a careful planner lost control and attacked an indispensable son. Her questioning helps prevent Yrniel's leaders from accepting his arrangement at face value. (Chapters 1547–1551 and 1560–1562)
• The four Infinities: They destroy Chaosveil by uniting against him, then ally with him again when Nux becomes a greater common threat. The alliance defeats Nux temporarily, after which both sides prepare to turn on each other. All five are ultimately captured together. (Chapters 2211–2212, 2323–2336, and 2355–2401)

• Necrocore: An energy-storage construct Zylarith helps Umbrasol's Progenitors design so Death Energy can accumulate over millions of years. It belongs to the Umbrasol project rather than serving as Zylarith's personal weapon. The Supreme Worlds interrupt the experiment, but the Necrocore continues leaking Death Energy after the world's fall. (Chapters 1751–1755)
• System: Zylarith's unnamed system is created from a portion of Chaosveil's energy and bound to Nux's soul. It is not linked because no allowed item slug exists for it. Nux eventually absorbs it and severs Zylarith's control. (Chapters 1543–1557)
