Isaveth
Isaveth Nocthys is the Queen of Nightfall and mother of Sharnoth. After Aurendor conquers Nocthys, Vexarion uses Sharnoth's pain to prevent Isaveth's suicide. When her daughter later gains a chance to escape, Isaveth asks for death rather than remain a chain that can be used against her.
Biography
Queen, captive, and final request
Isaveth first appears in Sharnoth's memory celebrating her newborn daughter beside the Nocthys ruler. The family life ends when their enemies kill Sharnoth's father and invade the weakened world. Captured with her child, Isaveth remains defiant enough to attempt suicide rather than participate in Vexarion's public “purification.” (Chapters 2046–2048)
Vexarion makes the prison collar punish Sharnoth whenever Isaveth tries to die. The tactic succeeds where personal torture fails: Isaveth suppresses resistance because every act is redirected onto her daughter. Captivity leaves her physically abused and emotionally hollow. (Chapters 2048–2049)
When Sharnoth offers to escape with help from a hidden master, Isaveth asks only whether her daughter will be safe. Once assured, she requests death so she cannot remain a hostage or burden. Sharnoth grants that wish, carrying the loss into the revenge that shapes her next hundred thousand years. (Chapter 2050)
Appearance and personality
Isaveth has long gray hair and crimson eyes and resembles an older Sharnoth before Chaos cracks her daughter's face. In captivity she wears torn rags and bears visible bruises. (Chapters 2046–2050)
She is loving, proud, and resistant to pain, but Vexarion breaks her resistance by transferring consequences to Sharnoth. Her final choice prioritizes her daughter's freedom over her own survival. (Chapters 2046–2050)
Abilities and cultivation
Isaveth is Queen of Nightfall and withstands torture without screaming, but the supplied memory does not state her formal stage, Law, Domain, techniques, or weapon. Her captivity occurs after Nocthys loses its strongest defender and under restraints designed for the royal prisoners, so it does not establish her normal combat limit. (Chapters 2046–2050)
Relationships
- Sharnoth: Isaveth loves and protects her daughter. She accepts death once Sharnoth has a credible path to safety, freeing her from a hostage relationship. (Chapters 2046–2050)
- Vexarion: Vexarion captures Isaveth and uses Sharnoth's collar to make resistance punish the child. (Chapters 2047–2049)
- Vorran: Isaveth's husband and Sharnoth's father. His death leaves Nocthys exposed and begins the family's captivity. (Chapters 2046–2047)
- Zylarith: Zylarith communicates only with Sharnoth during the escape offer; Isaveth cannot hear him and must judge the plan through her daughter's assurance. (Chapter 2050)
Items
Isaveth is restrained by holy chains and a prison collar linked to Sharnoth's pain. These are tools imposed by Aurendor, not personal possessions, and neither is separately cataloged.
