Ignatia Blaze is a Divine Dragon, formerly Arcturus's strongest wife and second-in-command, who becomes Dragon Lord after his death. Her rise follows an act of resistance: she opposes Arcturus's attempt to turn a personal defeat into war, is imprisoned for her dissent, and later inherits responsibility for stabilizing the continent he left behind.

Biography

Counsel within Arcturus's household

Ignatia initially occupies a powerful but subordinate position as Arcturus's strongest wife and the administrator who handles Dragon Continent affairs beneath him. She is also close to Ambrosia, a relationship that bridges the Dragons and Vampires. Her authority does not make her independent of her husband, but it gives her both the responsibility and confidence to challenge his judgment when his pride threatens the continent. After her son Vedier lost an agreed duel to Nux, Ignatia tried to calm Arcturus and argued that intervention would be dishonorable and strategically dangerous, especially with Vyriana supporting Nux. When Arcturus escalated to threatening Nux's family, Ignatia refused to endorse a war over a fair defeat. Arcturus recast her counsel as disobedience, had fifteen Divines bind her in the Shackles of Eternity, and sentenced her to a century in the Infernal Void Prison under ten Divine guards. From political prisoner to Dragon Lord

Arcturus's death ended Ignatia's confinement. She immediately claimed interim command as his wife until the Dragons could select a ruler, preventing an unstructured power vacuum. Vampire pressure discouraged rival candidacies, but the Dragons also recognized her long administrative experience; the resulting unanimous decision made her the new Dragon Lord. Her accession was therefore politically assisted rather than a simple personal victory, while still resting on the competence she had already exercised as second-in-command. (Chapters 1259 and 1281)

Ignatia inherited a continent unable to dictate terms to Nux. She negotiated compensation after Arcturus's actions and then accepted Nux's demand that Ember receive access to the Dragon Trials. Although she initially promised a week of preparation, she arranged the Trials in two days, showing practical control of the office under pressure. By her latest direct governing scenes, she remains alive and responsible for the Dragon Continent, with no evidence that her earlier imprisonment was publicly redressed beyond Arcturus's death and her succession. Appearance and personality
