Anna Ranger
Anna Ranger is a short-haired student in Evane's Second Decade Prodigy Class at the Royal Academy. She becomes one of Nux's first friendly classmates there and is notable for supporting his self-defense account when another student escalates their quarrel to lethal magic.
Biography
Friendship amid academy rivalries
Anna welcomes Nux on his first day despite the hostility of several male students, introduces herself, and quickly joins the classmates with whom he socializes. His flirting makes her blush, but she is willing to laugh and play along rather than withdraw. Her more consequential choice comes after Myrill uses Fire Burst first in a classroom confrontation. When Evane investigates, Anna truthfully confirms that Nux acted in self-defense. She privately doubts that he was as frightened as he claims, yet does not let that suspicion erase the fact that Myrill initiated the lethal escalation. (Chapters 233–239)
Anna continues spending time with Nux around the academy and shows concern when other girls pressure him with intimate questions, intervening because she believes he is uncomfortable. When Candice later challenges him, Anna worries about his safety and loses respect for Candice's arrogance, though Nux asks her to trust him. After Nux's extended absence, Anna is openly excited when he returns and joins the other girls around his seat to catch up. That reunion is her last appearance; the corpus does not follow her academy career, cultivation, or later relationship with him. (Chapters 241, 243–257, 351)
Appearance and personality
Anna is identified only as a short-haired girl. Her hair color, eye color, clothes, age, and other individualized physical features are not given. (Chapter 233)
She is friendly, sociable, playful, and easily flustered by Nux's direct attention. Anna is also fair-minded and protective: she gives Evane an accurate account of the Myrill confrontation and steps in when she thinks classmates are making Nux uncomfortable. Her blushes and excitement imply attraction, but the source never establishes a romance or a declared confession. (Chapters 233–243, 351)
Abilities and cultivation
Prodigy-class education
Anna belongs to the Royal Academy's Second Decade Prodigy Class, establishing that the academy regards her as a promising student of her age group. She recognizes the seriousness of Myrill's Fire Burst and witnesses several confrontations, but she never casts a spell, releases an aura, fights, trains on page, or states her cultivation stage. Her affinity, techniques, weapon, activation conditions, range, costs, counters, and later progression are therefore unknown. Membership in the class should not be treated as proof of a specific realm or combat capacity. (Chapters 233–257)
Relationships
- Nux: Anna becomes Nux's classmate and friend soon after his arrival. She supports his truthful claim of self-defense, worries during his conflict with Candice, and welcomes him back enthusiastically, but no confirmed romance develops in her appearances. (Chapters 233–257, 351)
- Evane: Evane is Anna's class teacher. Anna answers her investigation of the classroom fight honestly and later reports Nux's return with visible excitement. (Chapters 239, 351)
- Myrill: Anna witnesses Myrill initiate lethal magic against Nux and gives evidence that prevents him from recasting the incident as an unprovoked attack by Nux. No broader relationship is described. (Chapter 239)
- Candice: Anna initially recognizes Candice as a respected senior but becomes sharply critical when Candice arrogantly insists on fighting Nux. Their relationship after the challenge is not shown. (Chapters 244–257)
- Arvina: Anna agrees to summon Arvina at Nux's request, though Candice stops the errand before Anna leaves. The corpus establishes no personal bond beyond Anna's ability to seek the vice-headmaster. (Chapter 246)
