Myrill Bourkee

Myrill Bourkee is the elder son of Earl Bishnoi Bourkee and an Advance Stage student in Evane's Royal Academy class. He begins as a status-conscious bully who attempts to kill Nux over a classroom humiliation, but the destruction of Bourkee House leaves him responsible for his younger brother and forces a more sober view of his future.

Biography

A classroom challenge turned lethal

Myrill enters Evane's class relying on his association with Master Stage student Candice and presenting himself as its “King.” When Nux takes his usual seat and mocks that title, Myrill interprets the embarrassment as an offense requiring revenge. Evane explicitly rejects the supposed hierarchy, but Myrill persists because he expects noble connections and superior classroom standing to protect him. (Chapters 235 and 237)

He escalates the quarrel by firing Fire Burst at close range with the intention of killing Nux, believing his status will keep any punishment light. Nux evades the explosion, then beats Myrill, burns him with the same spell, and breaks his ankle. Their classmates confirm that Nux acted in self-defense, and Myrill spends a week in medical care. The consequence demonstrates both the danger of his attack and how little his social leverage means against someone able to answer it directly. (Chapters 238–240)

Abandonment and the fall of Bourkee House

Candice confronts Nux over Myrill's injuries and demands that the Academy punish him, but Evane rejects her argument because Myrill initiated the fight with lethal force. During a later confrontation over Oswald, Nux pins Myrill beneath his foot. Candice walks away after dismissing Myrill as an embarrassment, and Oswald follows her without helping his brother. Myrill's expected allies therefore fail him at the moment his classroom status is most visibly broken. (Chapters 244–256)

The larger Bourkee collapse follows from Earl Bishnoi's protection of Oswald and the family's abuses, not from Myrill's classroom fight alone. Nux and Felberta strip the house of its wealth and expose its crimes, while the Earl is left crippled. When Myrill returns to class, he no longer cares about his classmates' approval. He recognizes that, as the older brother, he must use the Academy's safety and training to support Oswald. This resolve is the last direct development supplied for him; whether he succeeds or reconciles with his brother is unknown. (Chapters 285 and 351)

Appearance and personality

Before the fight, Myrill is described only as having a somewhat decent face. Nux's beating temporarily leaves that face disfigured and burns away his hair, but the corpus gives no stable eye color, original hair color, build, or later appearance after medical treatment. (Chapters 238–240)

Myrill is initially vain, quick-tempered, and willing to turn a minor insult into a lethal attack because he assumes privilege will shield him. His later indifference to class opinion and decision to care for Oswald mark a genuine change in priorities after the loss of his family's power. The narrative calls him more mature at that point, though it does not show enough of his later life to establish how durable the change is. (Chapters 235–240 and 351)

Abilities and cultivation

Myrill is an Advance Stage cultivator in the Academy's second-decade prodigy class and is regarded as one of its stronger students. His demonstrated spell is the two-star Fire Burst, which forms a fireball that explodes on collision and is described as close to three-star power. At point-blank range he expects the blast to kill Nux, showing its intended lethality, but Nux reads and evades the attack. (Chapters 235 and 238–239)

Fire Burst is the only technique Myrill uses. Once it fails, he shows no effective close-combat answer and is overwhelmed physically. The source gives no acquisition history, casting cost, exact range, cooldown, affinity statement independent of the fire spell, or later refinement. His classmates' estimates of his standing are contextual rather than evidence of a victory, and no cultivation advancement is shown after Chapter 351. (Chapters 238–240 and 351)

Relationships

• Oswald: Oswald is Myrill's younger brother. He abandons Myrill publicly during Nux's test, but after Bourkee House falls, Myrill accepts responsibility for protecting and supporting him. (Chapters 252–256 and 351)
• Earl Bishnoi Bourkee: The Earl is Myrill's father and the source of much of the family's status. His complicity in Oswald's abuses contributes to the destruction of the house, leaving Myrill to plan for life without its former protection. (Chapters 235, 269–285, and 351)
• Candice: Myrill bases his classroom influence on his association with Candice. She initially seeks punishment for Nux after Myrill is injured, but later abandons Myrill as an embarrassment when he is pinned beneath Nux's foot. (Chapters 235 and 244–256)
• Nux: Nux humiliates Myrill's false classroom authority, survives his lethal attack, and defeats him. Nux's later campaign against Bourkee House changes Myrill's material circumstances, although no reconciliation between them occurs. (Chapters 235–285)
• Evane: Evane rejects Myrill's claim to rule the class and later uses his neglected return from medical care to expose his classmates' insincerity. The source does not show private instruction between them. (Chapters 235 and 351)

Myrill carries a storage ring containing healing potions. Evane draws on those supplies after his defeat, but the ring has no stated special function beyond storage and is not developed as a signature artifact. (Chapter 240)
