Keoza

Keoza is an ancient Crystal Dragon who abandons the Dragon throne, seals his soul in the Golden Dragon Token, and waits for the person who can help avert the future foreseen by his wife. He chooses Lux, first as the winner of his dungeon trial and later as the bearer of his will. From within the token, Keoza acts as adviser, protector, and limited-use combat summon until his recovered power allows him to resume command of the Crystal Palace and fight in the final war.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Keoza first meets Lux as the Argonaut-Ranked Guardian of a damaged former S-Ranked dungeon. Although his friendliness is genuine, he warns that he can perceive greed and will turn aggressors or thieves into crystal statues. Rather than simply surrender his treasury, he builds a rules-bound siege game that tests Lux’s command against Cadmus and the kobolds. Lux’s victory convinces him to grant three selected treasures, then add the Dragon War Art and dragon blood on the condition that Lux personally use them. Keoza turns into light and enters the Golden Dragon Token as the dungeon disappears, converting a one-time encounter into a continuing pact with the young necromancer. (Chapters 150–157)

The token gives Lux three opportunities to call an Argonaut Crystal Dragon, making Keoza a reserve whose scarcity shapes when he can intervene. In Whitebridge, Keoza kills an Initiate assassin with a crystal spike, carries Lux back to the city, and becomes temporarily invisible so his flight will not cause panic. Lux consequently preserves the remaining calls for disasters that his ordinary forces cannot survive. Later revelations show that Keoza’s generosity was not casual favoritism: he had sealed his soul and waited for someone whose bonds and choices could answer the crisis threatening both worlds. Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

The Dragon Token transports Lux to Karshvar Draconis and marks him as the inheritor of Keoza’s will, but Keoza initially refuses to explain either his past or the token’s connection to the Dragon throne. He intervenes only when the authorities of Pygmalion try to seize Lux. Unable to materialize a complete body, he projects an enormous apparition, confronts the reigning Dragon King as his brother, and rejects an offer to receive a replacement body as charity. His threat forces the kingdom to treat the chosen Half-Elf as more than an expendable outsider and establishes that Keoza’s protection includes Lux’s rights and dignity, not only his survival. (Chapters 418, 421–422)

Keoza also guides Lux without taking control of every decision. He warns that the Forest and Mountain Dwellers will never trust someone who lies to them, prompting Lux to state his purpose honestly rather than provoke a needless fight. He later agrees to restore five hundred of Garret’s elite soldiers from their crystal state, supplying Heaven’s Gate with a trained Initiate force. These interventions show the token spirit shifting from emergency weapon to political and cultural adviser, while still refusing to answer questions when he thinks Lux should discover the truth through action. The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Keoza remains silent when Lux questions him about the Crystal Palace, but the danger to its prince finally overrides that reserve. When the Abyssal Duke Zelken possesses Aur—later revealed as Aurelia—Keoza manifests an immense spiritual image, disperses the attack aimed at Lux, and grips the intruder’s soul without crushing his child’s body. He yields the captured prince to Gaap once the necromancer demonstrates a safer extraction method. The incident publicly reveals the missing king to the Crystal Palace and reframes Keoza’s absence: he had surrendered his body, throne, wife, and unborn child after a prophecy indicated that such a sacrifice was necessary for the Dragon race’s survival. (Chapters 661, 709, 809–811)

His private domain remains useful but not absolute. Keoza hosts the Ranker trial between Lux and Aina, monitors Aina’s unstable power, and warns Lux when the outside world begins breaking into the artificial battlefield. He cannot prevent that external blessing from penetrating his domain, but he can identify the breach, order Lux to retreat, and preserve Aina in crystal until the dangerous surge fades. The episode demonstrates a recurring pattern in Keoza’s aid: he establishes controlled conditions and gives timely warnings, yet stronger laws or powers can exceed the enclosure rather than obey him automatically. Lady Augustina later returns the Dragon Token to Lux before the Abyss expedition, treating Keoza as a final safeguard against an opponent far above Lux’s rank. His decisive recovery comes during Daniel’s attack on Solais. The last summoning brings him forth at Peak Demigod Rank and at least fifty meters tall; he uses Crystal Dragon King’s Breath against the Outer God’s manifestation, shields selected allies from a world-spanning memory effect by turning them into crystal, and finally encloses Lux in a crystal that suspends his ruined body in time. The defense cannot defeat Daniel’s attack by itself, but it preserves Lux’s chance of revival and closes Keoza’s long token-bound guardianship with its greatest protective act. After Lux returns, Keoza takes command of the Crystal Palace’s response to the Abyss. He uses his domain to show the Dragon families what happened to Lux without triggering the memory curse, moves the Crystal Cities as a fleet, and joins the united counterattack. He fights beside Lux, Hereswith, and King Azza against Daniel, but Daniel’s transformed speed allows him to decapitate Keoza immediately after killing Azza. Keoza’s soul still joins the dead who support Lux, and the Pillars of Eternity later restore him through true resurrection rather than undeath. (Chapters 1152–1153, 1166, 1205, 1211–1217, 1221)

Open Heaven’s Gate

Peace allows Keoza to inhabit the relationships his sacrifice had deferred. He joins King Azza, King Victor, Lux, Eiko, and the other troublemakers on a fishing trip, speaks openly about Aurelia’s pregnancy, and accepts Lux addressing him as Father. The outing catches almost no fish, but its real consequence is familial: two resurrected Dragon Kings and their future son-in-law discuss grandchildren and set a date for the joint wedding instead of planning another campaign. Keoza later escorts Aurelia down the aisle, publicly fulfilling the role of father that his century inside the token had prevented him from performing. (Chapters 1226, 1232)

Appearance and personality

In the Inner Grotto, Keoza is a glossy-white Crystal Dragon twenty-six meters long with a twelve-meter wingspan and ancient golden eyes. His body shines in sunlight, and even his relaxed presence burdens much weaker visitors. His recovered Dragon form reaches at least fifty meters at Peak Demigod Rank. Keoza can also assume a handsome humanoid form with long white hair and blue eyes, the same eye color inherited by Aurelia; this form lets him speak with and embrace his family without the scale of his draconic body separating them. Keoza is playful, perceptive, proud, and deliberately difficult to manipulate. He enjoys games, teases both allies and rivals, and withholds answers when he believes experience will teach more. His friendliness ends when someone attacks his chosen people, steals from him, or threatens the Dragon race. He rejects both the throne and an easy replacement body because his overriding concern is long-term survival rather than prestige. That severity coexists with patience: he waits more than a century to see Evangeline and Aurelia, remains with Lux after he could have asked to be released, and ultimately trusts the Half-Elf as his daughter’s partner because he has watched his choices over time. Crystal Dragon abilities

Dragon physiology, flight, and breath

Keoza’s Crystal Dragon body combines enormous durability, flight, claws, and ranged breath. His original Argonaut manifestation has enough force to kill Initiates instantly, while his crystal spikes can erupt beneath a target and penetrate prepared defenses. His dazzling breath is described as capable of pulverizing a direct target; at recovered strength, Crystal Dragon King’s Breath can briefly oppose an attack empowered by an Outer God when combined with Lux’s own forces. The clash also defines the limit: even Keoza’s strongest breath is steadily overwhelmed, forcing him to abandon offense and preserve Lux in crystal instead. (Chapters 150, 198, 1103)

Crystal creation, preservation, and control

Keoza creates crystal structures for offense, restraint, protection, and large-scale control. He can impale an enemy from the ground, encase a person in a statue that blocks physical and mental harm, and suspend a body in an almost timeless state. The protective crystal around Lux withstands full-powered blows from Saints, but Keoza explicitly warns that breaking it would destroy the remaining chance of revival. His authority also extends to the ancient Crystal Cities, whose foundations were formed from Crystal Dragon breath; once recognized as their king, he raises and moves them as floating islands. These applications depend on Crystal Dragon authority and do not imply unrestricted control over ordinary matter or every crystal created by another power. (Chapters 198, 1103, 1105–1106, 1153)

Token-bound manifestation and recovery

The Golden Dragon Token is both Keoza’s soul vessel and the medium of his pact with Lux. It can transport its bearer to Dragon territory, project Keoza’s voice or apparition, and permit three requested combat manifestations. Keoza can occasionally act without a formal call when Lux is losing control or his chosen people face immediate danger, but early appearances remain limited: he is a spirit without a complete body, and the apparition cannot exert all of his former strength. Each activation restores part of that strength until the final summoning reaches Peak Demigod Rank. Temporary invisibility allows a manifested Argonaut body to travel discreetly, while returning to the token ends the visible presence. (Chapters 157, 198, 418, 421–422, 811, 1103)

Domains, perception, and memory protection

Keoza can create self-contained domains whose terrain and rules support trials, tactical games, and memory projection. The Inner Grotto siege limits flight, supplies armies and towers, and revives participants under game rules; the later battlefield lets him oversee Lux and Aina’s Ranker trial. These spaces are not immune to higher authority: the world’s blessing breaches the trial domain, and Keoza can only warn those inside and contain the aftermath. He also perceives greed, identifies Abyssal souls inside living hosts, and projects witnessed events to others while shielding their minds from the pain attached to forbidden memories. That protection lets viewers learn about Lux after the memory curse, but it does not by itself restore the memories that were erased. (Chapters 150–156, 709, 743–749, 1152–1153)

Power progression

Keoza’s progression tracks the recovery of power through the Dragon Token rather than a conventional new cultivation path. The corpus identifies no formal stage between his Argonaut spirit and the restored Peak Demigod manifestation, and it gives no explicit rank above Peak Demigod after his resurrection. His recognition as Dragon King is political and metaphysical authority over the Crystal Palace, not a separate formal combat rank. (Chapters 176, 1103, 1153, 1221)

Relationships

• Lux: Keoza chooses Lux as token bearer, tests his judgment, advises him across cultures and wars, and repeatedly intervenes when his survival or dignity is threatened. Lux’s growth restores Keoza’s power and reunites him with his family; their bond becomes familial when Lux and Aurelia expect a child. (Chapters 151–157, 198, 418–422, 548, 1103–1106, 1152, 1226)
• Aurelia: Keoza sacrifices life with his unborn child to answer Evangeline’s prophecy, then protects Aurelia from possession and the memory curse.
