Ronan is a High-Ranker of the Haca Dynasty whose outward career as a trusted officer conceals his resentment of Great General Garret and possessive fixation on Garret’s wife, Sarah. His conduct during and after the Blackrock campaign turns him from a senior military ally into a threat to the Ousborne family.

Biography

Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars

Ronan is introduced as General Revon’s aide and vice general, taking the Ammarian defeat in the Marshlands more seriously than his superior and arguing from the strategic cost of lost territory. During the Haca invasion he serves as Vanguard Commander, recognizes that he cannot defeat Barca alone, and prepares a team of High-Rankers instead. The Golden Shield loaned to contain Barca makes him a formidable defender, but it is stolen during the fighting, leaving him injured and materially weakened. His early caution therefore coexists with arrogance and dependence on the dynasty’s elite personnel and treasures. (Chapters 473, 600, 601, 613, 615)

Garret’s apparent sacrifice exposes Ronan’s hidden motive. Although the two grew up as best friends and rivals for Sarah, Ronan privately celebrates the chance to inherit Garret’s position and family, then returns to the capital and attacks Sarah after she rejects him. Lux and Barca interrupt the assault, evacuate the Ousborne household, and strip Ronan of his armor before Asmodeus falsely brands him the leader of a rebellion. By the end of the crisis, Ronan has lost his equipment, his standing with Garret’s family, and control of his public identity, even though the text does not record his death. The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Ronan does not re-enter the action in Chapter 764; the chapter retrospectively identifies the source of Pazuzu’s Legendary armor and shield. The equipment Ronan lost while attacking Sarah now allows Lux’s Fortress Defender to withstand and repel Deimos-Ranked enemies, turning Ronan’s former symbols of rank into another faction’s defensive strength. This is a consequence of the Haca episode, not evidence that Ronan travels to the Dragon kingdoms or participates in the later Abyss conflict, and his ultimate whereabouts remain unreported. Appearance and personality

He blocks Morgazar’s long-distance arrow with the Golden Shield, recovers in midair, and lands on a materialized silver shield; against Sarah, a ring sharply increases his speed so he can move behind her before she can respond. These feats are partly artifact-dependent: the Golden Shield is a loaned Legendary national treasure, his speed burst comes from a ring, and the loss of his shield and armor leaves those benefits in Pazuzu’s hands. Ronan also explicitly judges himself unable to beat the Empyrean-Ranked Barca one-on-one and compensates by recruiting a dozen High-Rankers, establishing the ceiling of his individual combat power.
