Magnar

Magnar Vonmus Gweliven is a Dwarven prince, Saint, and founder of the Dark Guild Twilight Rain. After losing the royal succession and a civil war against his nephew’s line, he builds a kingdom-wide covert organization dedicated to seizing Gweliven’s throne, ordering assassinations and forbidden projects until Lux dismantles his hidden stronghold.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Magnar is introduced raging over his assassins’ failure against Lux and Aina. A former royal claimant, he had already started and lost a civil war against the nephew who inherited the crown, escaped, and returned as Twilight Rain’s founder. From hiding, he terrorizes Gweliven and contests the Order of the Griffin’s protection of the kingdom. His decision to punish failed operatives and continue pursuing young obstacles reveals the governing motive behind the guild: every person and institution is measured by whether it advances his lost claim, turning a succession grievance into a long campaign of covert violence. (Chapter 192)

Abyssal invasion and broken memories

Years of preparation give Magnar tens of thousands of members, hidden research such as the Lycan Project, merchant and assassin networks, and three secret Saints. Repeated leaks ruin projects and force delays, but he cannot identify Lux’s four embedded agents. When Gweliven attacks his underground headquarters, Magnar chooses to draw the army into fortified tunnels, conceal his Saint advantage, annihilate its strongest defenders, and then blitz the capital. The plan nearly works until Lux reveals additional Saints and Calamity-ranked allies. Magnar fights with his great axe, but Sion intercepts him and the hidden numerical advantage collapses. (Chapters 1036–1037, 1040)

Magnar attempts to retreat with a prepared tablet and promises another bid for the crown, only to discover that Hana has locked the surrounding space. He charges Lux in desperation, suffers spatial blades and Finger of Death, and watches Twilight Rain surrender. Even at the end, his only regret is not personally killing Lux while he was weak. At Lux’s signal, Avernus stabs him through the back and leaves him to bleed out. His death ends the guild’s reign of terror and proves the central flaw in his strategy: he built immense secret power but treated seemingly minor enemies as disposable until they became the coordinated force that erased his claim entirely. (Chapters 1040–1041)

Appearance and personality

Magnar is a silver-haired Dwarf and later a Saint; the corpus does not establish his eyes, age, height, or clothing. He is ambitious, vindictive, secretive, and patient enough to rebuild after civil war, but repeated setbacks make him angry and increasingly overconfident in hidden advantages. He plans around witnesses and political reactions, showing genuine strategic ability, yet cannot imagine that Lux has penetrated his organization on several fronts. His dying words retain hatred rather than remorse. (Chapters 192, 1036–1041)

Saint and command abilities

Saint-ranked axe combat

Magnar is a Saint who wields a great axe and can rapidly break a two-Saint barrier when supported by his three hidden Saints. He flies into battle and nearly executes an injured defender before Sion blocks the strike with a larger axe and pushes him back. No named personal axe skill is given. His rank makes him a national-level threat but not Sion’s equal, and once Hana immobilizes the battlefield he cannot escape spatial control or Lux’s Finger of Death. (Chapters 1036–1041)

Covert organization and strategic preparation

As Twilight Rain’s founder, Magnar commands assassins, merchants, High-Rankers, Saints, hidden entrances, an underground city, and forbidden research. Concealment lets four Saints appear where Gweliven expects fewer, while escape tablets offer contingency plans. These systems fail when infiltration compromises information and Hana blocks space before the tablets activate. Magnar’s authority is also brittle: once defeat is undeniable, rank-and-file members surrender en masse rather than die for his throne, demonstrating that fear and secrecy do not produce durable loyalty. (Chapters 192, 1036–1041)
