Sion

Sion is an axe-wielding Saint whose belief that power determines worth makes him both a feared protector of Agartha and an arrogant instigator. His defeat by Gaap's forces leaves him marked by Blackfire and summons him into Lux's service, but he later also fights openly for his homeland.

Biography

The Dragon kingdoms and the Abyss

Sion first appears as the Saint “calling the shots” in El Hazard. He has believed since becoming a Ranker that strong people should be treasured and weak ones discarded, dismissing Darius's warning that such contempt will invite retaliation. That outlook drives his use of bounty hunters against Lux and Gaap, even while his position as a local protector makes him agree to take the resulting battle outside the city (Chapters 853, 857).

Calling himself the Juggernaut of Agartha, Sion relishes fighting several Empyrean World Bosses and unleashes Juggernaut Onslaught when their coordination humiliates him. The do-or-die attack devastates the landscape but leaves him gravely weakened; Blackfire then tricks and swallows him. King Septimius secures his release, yet the coffin's mark binds his body and soul to Lux, allowing the Half-Elf to summon him with permanent enforced loyalty (Chapters 857, 860, 863, 901).

The rescue from the Abyss and the final war

Sion's later deployments place the same appetite for combat inside broader defensive causes. Lux summons him to fight two axe-wielding Saints of Twilight Rain, a contest he enjoys as a chance to prove his mastery, and he easily helps subdue High-Rankers elsewhere. During Agartha's defense, however, he leads the kingdom's army beside Darius, Cleo, and Garen because their homeland, families, and future are at stake (Chapters 1038, 1060, 1138).

In the final war, Sion fights beside Orion at the front of a force containing more than one hundred thousand Golems. The paired “Juggernauts” bulldoze the Abyssal vanguard and raise the Alliance's morale, giving other formations room to act. His latest appearance therefore retains his defining headlong force but applies it to collective survival rather than the private bullying with which he entered the story (Chapter 1205).

Appearance and personality

Sion is a middle-aged man who transforms his body into a silvery-black state for battle and wields a great axe. He is stubborn, vindictive, contemptuous of perceived weakness, and openly described as a battle junkie. At the same time, he accepts moving a Saint-level fight away from El Hazard to prevent civilian deaths and later commits himself to Agartha's defense, showing that his arrogance coexists with a protector's territorial duty (Chapters 853, 857, 1038, 1138).

Juggernaut abilities

Sion's Saint-ranked body supports overwhelming close combat with a summoned great axe. He can shatter the ground to disrupt grouped attackers, coat himself in a silvery-black battle state, and turn into a blazing meteor through Juggernaut Onslaught. That trump card pursues airborne targets and produces an explosion capable of ruining terrain across several miles, forcing Darius to reinforce El Hazard's barrier and magical defenses (Chapters 857, 860).

Juggernaut Onslaught is explicitly a do-or-die final gambit rather than a repeatable casual technique. Agile opponents can evade and redirect its path; after the attack and ensuing counter, Sion survives but is too injured to defend himself, enabling Blackfire's capture. His temperament is another limitation: coordinated foes exploit his desire to be taken seriously, whereas his strongest later results come from fighting within an army or under Lux's summons (Chapters 857, 860, 1038, 1205).

Relationships

• Lux: Sion initially persecutes Lux, but Blackfire's mark makes him permanently loyal and summonable. Lux later deploys him against other Saints (Chapters 853, 863, 1038).
• Gaap: Gaap orders the World Bosses who humble Sion; their confrontation overturns Sion's assumptions about a low-ranked Necromancer (Chapters 857–860, 863).
• King Septimius: The king negotiates Sion's return and guarantees that he will not trouble Lux again, treating the Saint as a valuable but politically costly protector (Chapter 863).
• Orion: Orion becomes Sion's fellow Juggernaut in the final vanguard, combining golem numbers with Sion's direct assault (Chapter 1205).
