Liam
Liam is the SS-ranked Spear Master married to Dahlia and the father of Cai and Rose. Intensely protective of his daughters, he tests Lux and Keane inside the Rowan Tribe’s Ancestral Lands before grudgingly allowing their relationships to continue.
Biography
Abyssal invasion and broken memories
Liam welcomes Cai home but receives her and Rose’s suitors with the silence of an overprotective father. Repeating the standard once imposed on him, he demands that the young men prove their intentions through combat. Inside the Ancestral Lands he uses Rowan privileges and his SS-Rank to overwhelm both, accepting Keane’s technical potential but dismissing Lux once the Half-Elf’s spells are suppressed. He offers a clear condition—defeat him and he will stop opposing Cai’s relationship—yet plans to bury both suitors in floating ice coffins for a week to frighten them. The test is meant as paternal deterrence rather than execution, but its severity draws Dahlia’s disapproval. (Chapters 1076–1078, 1080)
Lux answers by exploiting the Domain’s allowance for artifacts, letting Blackfire counter Liam’s ice and summon a Calamity-ranked Ogre. Liam halves that creature’s strength and nearly lands a decisive spear strike, but Blackfire recalls it at the critical instant, removing the restriction, and then turns four Calamity auras against him. The reversal forces Liam to experience the same helplessness he imposed on weaker challengers. Maximilian stops Blackfire before it can devour him, and Liam survives still unwilling to acknowledge Lux verbally. By the group’s departure he ignores his future son-in-law rather than renewing the fight, while Dahlia openly entrusts both daughters to their partners. (Chapters 1078–1080, 1084)
Appearance and personality
Liam is a middle-aged human man; the supplied chapters do not establish his hair, eyes, height, or clothing. He is quiet, stern, proud, and fiercely protective of Cai and Rose. His test has a genuine standard—he recognizes Keane’s potential and allows any method against himself—but he exploits home-field advantages and takes punishment too far. Even after defeat he preserves his pride through silence, showing that the encounter checks his authority without immediately making him affectionate toward Lux. (Chapters 1076–1080, 1084)
Spear and domain abilities
SS-ranked spear mastery
Liam is an SS-Ranker, one step below Saint, and an accomplished Spear Master. He can blast opponents through trees with a swing, descend from the sky with a thrust compared to a railgun, and create a crater hundreds of meters wide when that strike misses. He also activates buffs to strength, attack, and defense. Rank remains a hard limit: even with boosts he cannot defeat a full-strength Calamity-ranked World Boss alone, and direct impact from the Ogre leaves him coughing blood. (Chapters 1078–1079)
Rowan Ancestral Land authority
Within the Rowan Domain, outsiders cannot use spells or abilities, while those with Rowan blood remain unrestricted. Liam uses the asymmetry to slow Lux and Keane. A second Ancestral Land function halves one selected target’s strength and was designed to resist invading Saints. These advantages are territorial rather than portable personal supremacy: artifacts remain usable, allowing Blackfire to act, and when Blackfire recalls its Ogre the target restriction disappears. Liam’s authority therefore depends on location, bloodline, and maintaining a valid affected target. (Chapters 1078–1079)
Ice Coffins
Liam conjures multiple ice coffins, floats them beside himself, and can direct them toward incapacitated targets. His stated plan is confinement and burial for a week, not killing, making the constructs tools of capture and intimidation in this encounter. They are not absolute prisons: Blackfire, treated by the Domain as an artifact rather than a suppressed skill, knocks one away and batters it apart before Liam can encase Lux. No evidence establishes that the coffins can restrain an opponent stronger than Liam. (Chapter 1078)
